Three of us dined at the Sugarbeet last night. The staff was very accommodating as our open table reservations got lost in cyberspace. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and when one of our party ordered a wine that was not available, she suggested another and brought a sample. Two of us had the lamb shank and said it was the best they had ever eaten. I had the Bistro steak and it was perfectly done (rare). The array of mini vegetables was in a marvelous sauce. I really wanted to lick the plate. We all had a lovely pineapple based dessert to top off our lovely meal. We all concurred that this was truly one of the best dining experiences we've had.
Sugarbeet has consistently delivered outstanding cuisine and remains the top restaurant for business dinners and special family occasions as well as smaller after hours gatherings. Seth has created a great space that locals know for great food and outstanding service. Rachel and Lance are attentive and provide top level service. With a great wine list and solid offering of spirits Sugarbeet meets casual to formal dinners with ease. A real treat and guaranteed success for visitors.
Great meal and blend of flavors. Tried alot of dishes some better than others but everything was great. The off menu items /special were amazing. Overall a great place to come to enjoy a good meal in Longmont.
For Appetizers we got a few things. The bison tenderloin skewers, very tender and the apple pieces and suace went very good with it.
The special of Duck stuffed croissant was amazing.
The charcuterie board was really just a meat board, wish it had jams and cheese like other places.
For entress, did the boneless pork chop and the flat iron steak.
I normally eat filets but wanted to try something different.
The pork chop was alright but the sauce and the Brussel sprouts it came with, made the dish.
The flat iron steak was alil over cooked. It suppose to be med rare and was more medium but it was still very good. I think they use choice meat here, the meat didn't seem like prime if it was.
I've done the filet a few times here and wanted to explore the menu, but I'd go back to the filet om next visit.
Our last visit to Sugarbeet was just exceptional! As you can tell by the photos, we couldn't wait to dive in before we remembered we should grab a pic for review. Our cocktails, as usual, we're amazing. I really adore the homemade bread they serve, it is warm, cheewy, flavorful and definitely worth the carbs! We had an interesting take on calamari, It was sous vide and stuffed with delicious little sauteed veggies and then plated with squid ink, really inventive. The star of the night for me was the sea bass which was cooked to perfection and served in a delicious broth, delicately seasoned with saffron, and contained (I think), mung beans. One wouldn't think that this combination would be as delicious as the ultimate dish really was, but I will long for this dish during cold winter date nights for a couple of years to come. My fiance had lamb chops, which were cooked perfectly to medium rare. The whole experience lovely, every bite delicious. Sugarbeet is definitely one of our favorite go-tos in the area, I highly recommend.
I cannot say enough good things about Sugarbeet! It’s by far my favorite restaurant in Longmont. It’s been our go-to date night restaurant for the last 3 years. Creative dishes, a very nice atmosphere, and wonderful service! You won’t be disappointed!
We recently went to Sugarbeet for our anniversary and we're both super impressed with just about everything. The only issue we had was that it took quite a long time to get drinks in front of us, but the owner or manager who was walking around and checking in on everybody frequently stopped by, and when I mentioned it, we had our drinks right away. My wife had their signature Beetropolis which is gin, beet, tonic, mint, and lime and it was excellent.
We started with a sizzling shrimp appetizer, and although shrimp scampi doesn't really challenge the chefs, the shrimp was cooked to perfection, and it was served with delicious toasts with a nice char that really brought the sizzling shrimp together. Next time I would order something different, but I have no complaints at all about the sizzling shrimp, beyond that it's a little basic.
For the main courses, my wife had the seared ahi tuna and I had the Arctic char. Her tuna was perfectly seared, and it was served with an incredible kimchi sticky rice and sugar snap peas that were cooked just enough and still had a really nice crunch to them. There was a really nice creamy wasabi sauce on the plate to dredge the tuna in as well as ponzu, and it was excellent.
It's not as if I'm a chef, or a food critic, but outside of COVID I travel fire business frequently, entertaining customers, and eat at a lot of nice restaurants. My experience here was the first in a very very long time where every single item on our plates was perfect, sometimes the steak is good, but the veggies are a little mushy, or the fish is a little overcooked or potatoes a little salty. The Arctic char was out of this world and one of the best fish dishes I've ever eaten. It had a crispy skin and a pesto sauce on top that was mind-blowingly delicious. I stay away from grains so the couscous that accompanied it was mostly untouched, which was a shame, because the bike that I took was stellar.
Sugarbeet is a place we'll reserve for special occasions, and I'm very much looking forward to the next one. I'll update my review if anything changes on our next visit, which will be in a couple of weeks when the in-laws visit us from New York.
LOVED everything about this place. Keep up the good work.
Outstanding food and service. While many great places have (reasonably) lost their mojo since the pandemic, this place has taken it up a notch. Brilliant menu, exceptional wine selection, and delicious cocktails. A new favorite by far. The pride that owner Ari Kara demonstrates makes everything better for everyone.
Fine dining, but casual relaxing atmosphere. Food was excellent and service is too notch!
Excellent time of food and friends! Ari runs a lovely restaurant and feels like being invited into his home to share his space, time, and food...all a pleasure! We had a mix of the menu to share amongst the four of us. The oysters were outstanding and flavorful, especially compared to the prior week oysters at Jax! Night verses day 🌞🌜 I have had all of their apps and mains...the food is fresh, tasty, well thought menu with wine and drink pairings. Won't be our last visit and looking forward to the next 🤤
This is a new find for us. Comfortable seating in a cozy environment. Excellent service. The food was top notch but reasonably priced. We enjoyed 3 different salads - all with unique and delicious flavors. Three different main courses (pork, beef, risotto). All were perfectly done with unique and delicious flavors and sides. Will be going again!
