Review Malai Thai - Long Beach

This place is take-out only for now. It's a small location, but I'm guessing if it wasn't "Covid times" they would have a few tables for dining in. The deep fried spring rolls are good. I also got their Phad Thai which was pretty good, but didn't have as much flavor as I was hoping it would have. I will definitely try a curry or some other item next time. Plenty of parking.

Fantastic find in the most unexpected small town strip in southern Washington. The place is take-out only atm but the food is worth raving. I know my Thai spices and while there’s some usual crowd pleasers (=very average pad Thai), the green curry, drunken noodles and the thick rice noodles all hit the spot with flavor and heat. Seemed to be popular with the locals too.

The food here is consistently delicious. I've eaten here 20+ times and never been disappointed. Wait times are always reasonable 10-20 minutes, 30 at worst. My only critique is a somewhat disorganized to-go pickup system (pile of handwritten receipts) but honestly it's somewhat charming, and has never resulted in a food error, so whatever works for them! Drunken noodles are my favorite but literally everything I and anyone I've dined with (yes, I'm a bite-stealer) has been yum.

I have been eating at this Thai restaurant since I was 10 years old, the service is always very quick. I always love showing new friends this restaurant because it’s always a hit. It’s run by a very kind family and they always have a smile to share. The chicken pad see ew is the best I’ve ever had and since going to college I can not find another like it. You would think after eating the same dish for years I’d be tired of it, but I actually look forward to coming home so I can stop by Malai Thai, I’ve got their number on speed dial! Never disappoints !

I'm a regular hear. I wish you would open at 12:00 pm but beggars can't be choosers. The food is an exalatoin compared to the other local food in Long Beach. Very good dinner! I would could come by for lunch but my break is at noon, so I will continue to stop by for an awesome filling dinner -Isaac

I love thai food, and was apprehensive of a small town restaurant - this place was awesome. I didn't want to drink anything after eating my Pad Thai so I could keep the taste in my mouth. (Tried the other local Thai place and it sucked - the only negative about Malai Thai is their short hours, which is why we had to eat at the other place.) Next time we come here we'll definitely make the timing work!

Very warm and homey atmosphere. Food tasted very good. Red curry with veggies, green curry with chicken, shrimp pad thai, deep fried calamari, deep fried tofu all tasted great. My favorite was the mango sticky rice.

Having spent a few days at Cape Disappointment State Park just 15 minutes up the road, this was one of the few modern, semi-upscale (not a dive) restaurants on the peninsula as far as I could tell and the highest rated of two on Yelp. We arrived at the front door on Wednesday night, but, oddly enough, they were "Closed", so we had to find somewhere else to eat in a town with few dining options, even fewer in early spring before the summer throngs arrive.

The Chicken Pot Stickers with Ginger Soy Sauce ($7) were pretty good, coming with seven at exactly a buck a piece. The accompanying sauce was one of two "disappointments" of the evening, a small cup half filled with soy sauce and a little ginger which I could not taste. The other disappointment and a pet peeve was when our entrees both arrived before we were even half-way finished with our appetizer. No excuse.

I ordered my Thai go-to, Massaman Curry, with beef, potatoes, onion and peanuts ($11). It was good, not the best I have had by far, coming with a fair amount of thinly sliced beef in a Massaman sauce that was also "thinner" than most. The flavor was still pretty good.

My wife had Malai Noodles Special (D1 - $9.95), coming with stir fried yakisoba noodles with cabbage, carrot, onion, celery and beansprouts topped with crispy chicken strips and a sweet and sour sauce. The veggies were fresh and the chicken crispy and abundant, a good value at less than $10.

Again, not the best Thai I have had and I love Thai food, but a relative bargain in a tourist town with few decent dining options and even fewer TravelValues.

CombatCritic Gives Malai Thai 6 Bombs Out Of 10 ... Their Drunken Noodles are perfect. Their spice is an amazing addition for heat as well as flavor. We also had the Mango Sticky Rice and Thai Iced Teas. We will be looking forward to our return to Long Beach to eat there again.

Three of us went out for lunch at Malai Thai and none of us had tried it before. We all tried lunch specials, which were all noodle dishes with no sides. There was no choice of spiciness and all of them ended up mild. Decent food, friendly service. We also ordered one take out and the server had it made just in time for us to take it with us, which was much appreciated. It is convenient from the store our extended family runs, so I expect to be back.
