Review Juan Tequila's - Long Beach

anthony weaver
What a great experience. The staff are great. My waitress was attentive and made sure my dinning experience was enjoyable. This is authentic food and great ingredients. The chips and salsa are dangerous because you can get carried away and fill up on them. They are perfectly seasoned and the salsa is fresh. Wednesday night come here for a trivia night experience. fun for the whole family

So I normally order to go and dine in to the one in Waveland but today I did it in Long Beach .l did a to go order and I got half of the portion comparing to the one in Waveland. Never again . Btw I never write a review but I was so disappointed and mad ( I’m hungry ) . And we got 2 of those 😩

Ate here while visiting my parents many times. Great atmosphere and great staff. Everyone was really nice and it's an overall great place to eat with family or friends. When my son was 7, my parents would take him on karaoke night (not sure if they still do that) and they always had a great time

Two stars is being generous. Margaritas were weak and we asked for extra shots just to give them flavor. The food was overpriced and lacked flavor!! The portions were small and also failed to meet average expectations. Save time and money.. Avoid the disappointment of patronizing this establishment.

After my underwhelming experience began with the Margaritas with lacked flavor. Our meals lacked flavor, small in portion and cold. After the very poor dining experience we got the bill!! Grossly overpriced!! Don't waste your time or money here!!

Tacos are tacos. Mexican food is pretty generic. The food is fine. We love the white queso and chips. The setting (view of the gulf) is amazing. Especially at sunset. But the people is what sets this place apart. Always friendly, pleasant, efficient, aware. It's clean, colorful and by the way Christian.

This place is amazing! Great service, never have to wait for a table, and food is SO GOOD! food comes out quickly and staff check on you frequently. Best Mexican food I’ve eaten!

Delicious with great service too! The strawberry margarita was the best one I have ever had. Loved the chips for the chips and salsa. Light chips not the thick kind. The guacamole dip was super fresh. The fajitas were also muy bueno!

I used to love this place, I really ate some great food there a couple times. Then, it seemed everything started going downhill. No consistency in food or service anymore. I kept giving them chance after chance and making excuses as to why maybe it sucked this time or that only one of the meals out of me and my lady's food was sub par, but I can only give a place so many chances. Especially this last time. They finally destroyed the one meal they hadn't messed up yet: the carnitas. The black beans were so salty they were inedible and the carnitas were overly salty pot roast that was pretty much inedible as well. The salsa isn't even consistent anymore. (This was a takeout meal so i was unable to mention anything to management or the server, but even so, besides taking the meal off the bill, there was nothing anyone could do. I don't wanna come back even with a coupon or whatever.) So sorry juans, consider us broken up: it's not me, it's you.

This was our first time here and it was amazing!!! Sampled platter appetizer was so full of flavor, margaritas were great and burritos were delicious!!! and don't even get me started on the fried ice cream and churros....WOW!! Haven't had Mexican this food in years!! We will be back for sure!

We have eaten here plenty of times before and it's been great. Today our experience was opposite. The server (who seemed too busy to even be a server) got our drink order wrong off the jump. We ordered cheese dip, carnitas, and a fajita burrito meal. My boyfriend took one bite of his Carnitas and his face said it all. He briskly chewed it up while explaining to me we would be feeding that to our dog. The manager was also too busy to even look my way when waving him down to explain the situation. The server only returned after I had to get up and basically stop him from cleaning the tables across the room.. never refilled our drinks.. never checked on the food.. and was extremely unfriendly. We will not be going back.. bad food.. bad service.. bad for business.

Used to love this place when I come to town every few months but it has definitely taken a turn for the worse. The glass I was drinking out of was all chipped all around the rim and left 3/4 of the expensive margarita, told the barmaid but she charged me anyway for the drink. Asked for more salsa but it never came. Ordered Chimichanga to go but it is the most soggy, cold piece of crap I have ever had. Juan used to be at the restaurant but I did not see him tonight so maybe that is why service and food was bad. I will have to find a new place to hang out when in Long Beach. Adios.

Very authentic Mexican food! Been by hundreds of times, never stopped! It is now my go to place for Great food and Cocktails!!

Juan and Erin are two of the kindest and caring people I know. They care about their customers and want everyone to have a good experience in their restaurant. Thank you for always making us welcome and for fixing special foods for me to eat since it is so hard to find foods for me to eat. And for always catering to all of our needs. The food is always wonderful and so is our service. If we ever have an issue you always fix it. Couldn't ask for a better place to go with our family.

I LOVE this restaurant! We visit Mississippi several times a year and I make sure we go at least twice each trip. The place is spotlessly clean and the food is phenomenal! The queso bean dip is the best I've ever eaten. The chips are delicious and the pop is served in a huge glass and very icy. The service is unbelievably good. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Being a Texan, where we have fantastic Mexican food, this food was excellent. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. Usually if we are not in Texas, we don't go to a Mexican Restaurant. Juan's was recommended and now I recommend them to you.

Great food at a great price. The deep fried stuffed avocado was amazing and our waitress, Keana, gave us excellent service!!!

I live in Long Beach and I have been to this location many many times. Everything is always great, from the view to the service and of course the food is wonderful. Their Margaritas are delicious as well! ❤

I went to Juan's last night (Thursday, Feb. 16th) with my husband and son. We've been to this location several times and love everything about it! Well, this time was very different. We were seated right away and handed menus, then were brought our drinks, chips, and salsa very quickly. After that, everything went downhill. We were not checked on for at least 10-15 minutes, even though there were only 4 tables being occupied. The waitress finally came to take our order and then left. Another 20-30 minutes passed before our food finally came (she didn't come check on us, no refills, nothing). I ordered a few a la carta items, one of which were 2 chicken enchiladas. Well, I received 2 cheese enchiladas, which was ok, if I hadn't pointed to the menu while I was ordering, specifying the chicken. I would've sent it back if I knew it wasn't gonna take another 30 minutes. At this time, I was almost out of drink and had no offers of a refill. After another 20-30 minutes, she brought our check and we left. I love everything about this place. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is fun and family friendly (my son loves to listen to the singers on karaoke night!), and the service used to be friendly, extremely fast and efficient. Not last night. The service was NOT good! I don't know what kind of changes were made to the restaurant (the decor, the way the furniture was set up, and the menus have changed), but it needs to go back to the way it was!

Great food and great service!!! Love this place stuffed avocado is the best!

We were tourists who were treated like family. Excellent food, value & service. Very clean as well!

The chips have a weird taste. The salsa leaves much to be desired and is very watery. The cheese dip is not good. The food is subpar. The service is just ok. El Saltillo is MUCH better, and only a few minutes away. Don’t waste your time here.

Here for Taco Tuesday. What a treat. 99 cent tacos.
Beef or chicken. Crispy, crunchy, or soft.
Chips and salsa super good.
Best tacos, bar none. Plenty of filling and very tasty.
Had to order an enchilada just to test because the tacos were so good. What a treat.
So glade that I don't live here. I would die from over eating.
Their sauces are not the typical stuff you would normally get. Had to be simmered like southern cooking to get their flavor.
We love Mexican / Tex-Mex food but can't find really good restaurants. This is not the run of the mill Mexican because it is truly home made with the owner over seeing all phases.
Wait staff above average. Our waitress tonight was Lisa, and a gem. Fast service.
Prices are more then fair.

We are full timers in our 40 ft diesel pusher with over 100000 miles covering all North America

This place has the best combo on the coast. Please order the Katy's. What is not to love: cheese dip (yum), steak (yes please), all on top of more cheese, how can you go wrong? The chips and salsa are never ending and how can you go wrong with 2 for one margaritas on Tuesdays?!

Don't waste your money. Bad food and terrible customer service. I left this evening with the utmost frustration of having spent my money on such bad food and a staff that just didn't care one bit. There is no way that the locals eat at this restaurant and I'm pretty confident it relies on idiots like myself(vacationers) to support the location,.

Take you business elsewhere.

Go someplace else. Bad service. We were one of three tables to complain about service the night we went. Go to one of the other places in long beach or downtown gulfport

We are new in town and were told this is the best Mexican restaurant....well I sure hope not! The food was not good! I've never seen a Mexican place not have sopa de pollo. The service was pretty bad too. We ordered charizo and queso but were brought cheese and beans instead. The waitress insisted that's what we ordered and wouldn't take it back. We will not be going back!

This place has excellent salsa !! Service was great with an awesome view of the gulf. Food was really good. The only thing I didn't like was the chips. Overall a great experience!!

Very good. All around. Drinks, apps, food and service was wonderful.

Great Mexican food served by friendly staff. My family loves to eat at Juan Tequila's!

Food is OK, music is way too loud. We won't be back any time soon

Being from Texas I have found very few places here in south MS that I would call Mexican. Juan's is definitely on the GOOD list. We were met by a friendly host and waiter. Although he didn't speak English (yep Mexican) very well, there was no doubt he was dedicated to getting us what we wanted and making sure we were well served and attended. The place was clean. The portions were big. The atmosphere was up and lively. A good experience and we will be back.

We walked in and were greeted immediately by a friendly Server. Place smelled great with the aromas of Mexican food. Food was delivered promptly, Server was attentive, & we really enjoyed the food! Great view of the Gulf, large Margaritas, & authentic cuisine....we were pleasantly surprised & will be back.
Stacy Fetter Adams
We really enjoyed the Carnitas and Mexican Tacos! Portions were large and service was fast and friendly. Loved the outdoor patio. All in all a great experience.

It's like voting...choosing the lesser of two evils. This area is hard pressed for a good Mexican resturant and this is not one of them, although there are worse. There's no character in their decor, which can be said of the cuisine as well. In our case, the appetizer (chicken flautas) was better than our entrees.

Quick friendly service! Cold beer and huge glasses for drinks! Nice open atmosphere

Food is always hot & fresh! Big portions. Great, fast, and friendly service. Take out gets 25% off..I was shocked at how great this place is. I Def recommend it:)

BAD!. The food was not good and the service was worse.
The plate for the faitas was so hot that the meat was
burnt. The meat had no taste and was so tough that
you couldn't chew it. The waiter never even asked if
we needed drink refills and for the final touch the manager never spoke a word to me when I went to the desk to pay . I think out of common courtesy the normal thing to do would at least have been to say thank you for your business. Unfortunately we had guests and their food was just as bad. I won't be going to this restaurant again.

Tequila by any other name .... Would taste better someplace else. Had lunch there and was deeply disappointed. Ate out on the veranda which has nice view of Long Beach Small Craft Harbor, but food, drinks, and service undistinguished at best. Had steak chimichanga - steak was bland and chimichanga only crunchy on one corner. The cheese sauce also bland except for one section. My wife's shrimp burrito had a few shrimp, lotsa onions, and a mushroom. The house maragarita on the rocks was somewhat strong, but lacked the tartness I enjoy. Service started out good, but lagged as the meal continued. Generous with the chips and an undistinguished salsa.

Wow.... Talk about a great place to go to eat, especially if you're military!!! 25 PERCENT DISCOUNT FOR MILITARY!!! The fajitas are so good and I love the Tamales, they are delicious! They have some of the best sweet tea on the coast. I leave fat, dumb and happy every time I eat there. They are always having specials, like this month is kids eat free Mon-Wed, all day long. If you want to go and your other half don't like mexican, they have some pretty good chicken strips. Most servers hardly speak english, but they are very curtious and care about their customers.
The one plays with my daughter every time we go there. If you drive through long beach on 90 and you are hungry, you must stop!

Mexican in a box. If you are looking for the regular old mexican in a box that serves up the same ol' stuff. This is it.

The atmosphere is worse than most, and there's hardly any decor.
The night we went the service was horrible but the food was good, once they brought it out.
Thomas Whidden
Ate dinner there tonight. Was underwhelmed by the service and food left a lot to be desired. Won't be back.

DO NOT TRY. Went there, ordered a shrimp plate. RANCID shrimp. Uncooked bacon. Terrible service. If you want some Mexican-esque food, try Mex Express right off Jefferson Davis. I don't work there, but it's simply better. Well, the steak containing menu items are good, as are the nachos (ask for no lettuce).

Margaritas are terrible and service is sloppy at best. Will NEVER. Be back!

Great Food. I am very picky about the Mexican food I eat growing up in Southern CA and being able to drive to Mexico's Baha Ca to eat had me very spolied. My family moved to LB Missisippi 10yrs ago and I have been jonesing for good Mexican food. I went to Juans on a whim and I am now hooked. I love Carnitas and they have some really good Canitas, much better than Los Tres. Go during the week if you have young kids it is less crowded and very enjoyable.

A friend of ours recommended Juan's early this week, so we took our family last night for dinner. It was incredible!!! Having grown up in East Texas, it has been hard to find a good Tex-Mex restaruant on the coast, but I think we have found our place to eat. has been, and still is, my favorite Mexican restaurant on the coast. The food, service and view are grat too. I would highly recommend Juan Tequila's.

Having tried their frozen margaritas a couple of nights ago, there was eagerness to try something new. One favorite at finer Mexican restaurants is quesadillas. Since the neck of my beer was wrapped with a napkin like a neck tie the waiters were wearing and silverware wrapped in a red cloth napkin, I knew I was there. Had my choice of beef or chicken or just beef or just chicken or shrimp. I quickly chose the beef. Love fajeta strips on my quesadilla. To my surprise what I got was hamburger meat finely chopped with Mexican cheese. Not what I expected. It was served on a modern 9 inch square white plate. Kinda gave that Asian feel. The taste wasn't bad, it's just that I couldn't get over the hamburger texture. Service was fast and the waiters were curtious. As curtious as they could be not knowing but a little English. But I did think that I was gonna get pranked when the waiter that escorted me to the table had hug buck teeth with a gap and spiked hair like Jerry Lewis and walked with a hunch. I'm serious! But back to the review. All the trimmin's came with the quesadilla such as guacamole, sour cream, lettuce and a mix of tomato, onion, parsley and a hint of cilantro. Speaking of cilantro, the salsa and chips are free. And the salsa has my favorite Mexican ingredient, cilantro. Not hot either. The quesadilla was not two tostatos but one 6" folded. That also was a disappointment. Imported beer was $3.50 versus domestic for $3.00. It was a Saturday afternoon and the place was busy, busy, busy. My other stop here was during the weekday and it was dead, dead, dead. Eight or nine beers to chose from. Draft consisted of Miller Lite, Micholob Lite and Amber some-em' or other. No bud, imagine that.Bet the owner doesn't drink beer. They did however have a full menu to chose from like appetizers, beverages, burritos, chilis, chimichangas, desserts, enchiladas, quesadillas, salsas, soups, tacos, tostados, tortillas, etc. From talking to an English speaking employee, this place has only been here for a couple of months. All tables, chairs, bar, decor are new. Thus, they just opened.
