If you are a Chicago transplant in Los Angeles, and you have not been here yet, what are you doing?!? This is authentic Chicago-style deep dish.
Easily on the level of Lou Malnati's. Good crust, well-seasoned and thick sauce, just the right ratio of sauce to cheese. I had a beautiful sausage and onion pie from here, and also got some peach cobbler pie while I was in.
Outside of the amazing food, it's also pretty amazing that they're doing this with just one trained culinary worker. There's a chef who works and trains all the other employees, who are members of his church that fell on hard times and needed a job. Amazing pizza and pie that also does some good for the community is a fantastic thing.

Wow I'm impressed I stumpled upon this place looking for something different from the major chain pizza places. I've visited New York and went on a pizza tour trying 10 different iconic spots looking for the best pizza there and I've since craved visiting Chicago to try authentic deep dish pizza but I may not have to go after all after trying this pizza. I'd easily say this spot could compete with the top 5 pizzas places I've visited. MUST TRY SPICY DEEP DISH if you come here it is literally perfect. Treat yo self to some decent cookies too.

The deep dish pizza was awesome, the deepest I've ever had. Crust was thick and delicious, generous amount of cheese. I ordered the spicy which was amazing. The triple chocolate as well as toffee cookies were the bomb too, and I'm not a toffee fan. The staff were all cheerful and provided great service as well. Highly recommended

Excellent pizza pie great tasting crust with fresh ingredients (not frozen). I had the spinach pizza regular crust very delicious, the feta cheese enhanced the flavors. Kalamata olives brought the flavors all together. In an explosion of wonderfulness in every taste. I will be back for Deep Dish!

The pizza was amazing, cookies out of this world and the staff very welcoming and felt like a family.
although I am told they are not family but an outreach of a local church which leads me to believe maybe that church would be a cool place to go.
Absolutely if you're driving by pull over and stop if you can find a place to park!

For me, an idea works when the people that work there commit themselves to the mission. 5000 pies has an excellent mission which is executed by excellent people to deliver excellent food. the mission is "to transform the lives of young adults in West Long Beach through culinary employment and life skills coaching." It is joyous to enter here. People are friendly. The food is inventive and delicious. Really, a peanut butter bacon and jelly sandwich? It's a take-away dining as there is no sitting area. Call ahead for the deep-dish. The idea is unique not just in mission, but food offering. This is first time that I seen a restaurant offer fresh baked goods as well as from scratch pizza. you're either a bakery or pizza joint, but here get the sweet and savory pie.

It was delicious! I've been to a Chicago several times. More flavor, and umami for sure. If you're looking for good deep dish, must try.
The fries and special sauces are amazing too. You need a food truck!

Like the sign says, great food, made with love. Nice staff, good food, good prices. My only complaint, place is a bit small, and hours are a tad short, but I'm not sweating it. Also, place has a heartwarming story.

That pizza is fire! Love the deep dish and regular crust. Chef Mike knows how to blend the right ingredients for the perfect flavor and is very accommodating to vegetarians. Hand pies and cookies are delicious, too. I can't get enough of 5000 Pies!
