Hands down the best udon in the greater LA area, as far as I'm concerned. The head chef did change recently but in recent visits it still seems like they're maintaining quality/standards. The oyakodon is also incredible - juicy battered chicken and egg over perfectly cooked rice :)

By far my favorite Udon restaurant in town. Get there right at opening 11:30a since it fills up fast for weekend lunch. Serves udon in soup and on plate either hot or cold. I suggest the spicy chicken udon hot in winter and cold in summer. That plus a HUGE draft beer and you are all set.

Summary: Pretty good. Value is alright. A decent amount of parking in the strip mall, but it fills up. Expect a wait during prime hours. Quality is excellent. Service is a bit slow. My wife and I are not big udon people, but given the super high ratings, we figured we would give it a try. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table to open up on a weekday evening, then we were seated at a table and given some complimentary tofu to nibble on. We soon ordered and each got the curry udon with tempura shrimp (and I added fried egg). The noodle texture was pretty good. I won't say al dente, but close. The shrimp were excellent and very hot when first bitten into. The egg was a nice addition and the broth itself was pretty tasty. I only discovered the spicy seasoning in the little jar on the table once my soup was basically done, so I didn't get to enhance my food with it much, however if I were to return I would definitely add a bunch of that to to start. The service was alright. There were either a shortage of servers given the number of people (though the restaurant is pretty small), or they just had to handle lots of requests, or something. We ended up having to flag someone down to get the check and to get more water.

This place specializes in udon. I prefer ramen to udon personally but their udon is so good I'll take it over any average ramen place any day. The place fills up fast during dinner so they leave the reservation list outside for you to fill yourself before they open.

Oh my god! Udon heaven. This place is perfect for your Japanese carb needs. It is pricey for what you're getting but boy is it delicious. Small restaurant that does not take reservations so be prepared to wait.
