Review New Fun Ree - Little Rock

Parker Mitchell
My daughter and I have been coming here for lunch for years but our last few visits the attitude of the lady who serves us has been less than stellar. I continue going because the food is good but during our last visit she told my daughter she could not substitute the rice for noodles with her lunch order then told the Asian lady in the line behind us who ordered the same thing that she could. No longer eating here. Customer service does matter.

Use to be the place for Chinese food. After today I'll be ordering from the place on camp from now on.. rice cold n dark. Meats just placed on top of rice not mixed in and not alot.. I thought house rice or combo rice has a friedegg mixed in maybe you have to ask for it now idk . Sweet n sour chicken fried so hard breading reminded me of crakers ..felt like my whole meal was from yesterday or when ever not fresh terrible .. I don't recommend this place to anyone anymore 😕

My girls and I have eaten here lots of times. We love the food! However, the last 2 times I have eaten here I have found pieces of metal in my food. The first time I ordered combination fried rice. When I found the metal, I called the restaurant and told them. I stated that I had eaten most of my food and did not want a refund, but I wanted them to be aware that maybe they needed to replace their wok. The lady was apologetic and said thank you. I ordered again tonight. This time I ordered the Double Fried Pork Complete Dinner with Hot and Sour Soup. I found metal in my soup. I have not called them back yet but I will. I will not be patronizing this restaurant again!

I ordered the beef & broccoli lunch special. Rice was without onions. Guess what? Rice had onions couldn't eat & couldn't return because I was on lunch

Usually have a great experience here but I have to say that today was horrible!! My hot pepper chicken was cooked with green bell peppers which are NOT Hot, the fried rice looked and tasted as if it were sitting for awhile and my egg rolls were super small and a little burnt.. I eat here often but will be looking for another place to eat chinese.. On top of that, I was over charged so I called the restaurant to inform them and got hung up on twice!! The lady was very rude that I spoke with.. And I didnt get my money back.

Best Chinese food in Little Rock! Quick service, order is always complete and correct. Parking can be a little difficult at times, but since McDonald's moved it has greatly improved the ease of access. You can order through an app now, which is great because the phone does not stop ringing. Portions are large, food is hot when you pick it up. I absolutely love this place!

New fun ree was very clean, they were very polite, and my food came out hot and fresh in less time than I thought it would.

They now have an application for you to use on your phone. My food was temperature hot when I arrived. I ordered the lunch Kung Po Chicken with Egg Drop Soup and Crispy Noodles. The rice may have been sitting while because it did not taste freshly made. The rice was also very dark, as if it had been in the warmer too long. The egg roll was overcooked and almost burnt on one end. The Egg Drop Soup and Crispy Noodles were good.

I usually don't bother with reviews but this is the worst Chinese food I've ever eaten. Avoid this place no matter how cheap or convenient you think it is. Very low quality. Hate to be so harsh but damn.

While the portion sizes are nice, the food is aweful! Easily some of the worst chinese food I have ever eaten. I do not want to finish eating what I ordered. My honey chicken tastes like week old orange chicken and the meat is tough. The rice is flavorless and grainy. Total waste of money! So pissed I had pay for this crap!

It's located close to my apartment and is open late so I can order after work and pick it up. Staff is always nice and service is quick. Would recommend!

Good food (huge portions). Fast delivery. Highly recommend.

Y’all ... one word: AVOID! The “sesame chicken” was chunks of the chicken used for sweet and sour chicken, stuck together as one big chunk of chicken-ness, in a sauce that tasted very similar to ... wait for it ... SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE! How do I know they didn’t mess up the order and give me sweet and sour chicken? ‘cause it was garnished with broccoli and had sesame seeds unevenly distributed on the chicken!

I've gotten take-out or delivery from here several times. It's always mediocre at best. Today all of the meat was tough, the chicken on a stick appetizer was burned. The egg roll was put in with the fried rice so it was very soggy. This is the third and final time I will be ordering from this place. Total waste of money. More than half my food is in the trash can.

The worst Asian food I've ever had in Little Rock! Used their delivery service, ordering pineapple chicken/fried rice and fried wontons. The chicken was suppose to have a crispy batter. It was greasy, doughy with no flavor! A few pieces were burnt on one end. The pineapple was straight out of a can. The pineapple sweet and sour was nothing but thickened pineapple juice. The fried rice was bland, no egg or much of anything else. Only eatable with a lot of help from soy sauce. The fried wontons were greasy, but much better than the chicken. Pretty much worthless meal for the cost of $19.00 plus tip! This the first time I had tried them and the failed the first impression when it comes to food quality. The good was the order taker was very polite as was the delivery person.
I gave them a 1.0 because they were open. I visited the counter and had some questions as I was trying to recreate a dish that I had elsewhere. The counter girl was very uninterested and not even helpful. I left there and went to Taco Bell where I saved some money and had a meal that was consistently delicious.

My girlfriend and I love this place. Sometimes we eat in (during lunch), but mostly we do take-out for dinners. We usually get the same items every time and not once has it been different than any other time. I do agree that the food isn't the best when comparing it to other Chinese places, but it still does it's job for late night Chinese cravings. The convenience and the price does not disappoint.

Lunch specials are around $6.00 and they include a sizable amount of food. Entrees come with fried rice, soup, and egg roll. I eat a lot, but I had leftovers. Food was hot, fresh, and tasty. Service was fast and efficient; but both of the two employees I interacted with seemed like they'd rather be anywhere in the world but here. I could almost feel their apathy emanating from them. I think take out orders might be the best option here.

New Fun Ree is right down the street from here, so I pick it up occasionally. Service to my hands is generally always under 5 minutes. New and younger owners have taken over, many times letting there teenage son and daughter work the counter, and doing so very professionally and politely. The food is very good, and is a very good price. $6.25 + tax/under $7 for a lunch item with a large bowl of soup. I'm currently eating the Beef in garlic sauce which super good, and the hot and sour soup is always delicious, even cold. I like the egg drop soup too, but some have complained about the consistency being thicker, but I love it. There are also a few items on their lunch menu that most others don't, like orange chicken, among others. There are a couple other better Chinese restaurants that have better atmosphere for eating, and a bit better quality, but none to me match the value at lunch, and of course the convenience to me as New Fun Ree.

Watch out! Their menu prices have changed. Also, they'll charge you $1 to run your card over the phone without telling you. Will definitely consider this next time I order run-of-the-mill Chinese delivery.

This restaurant is located in the most dangerous spot in Little Rock. I didn't even want to walk in without my husband after I ordered over the phone. The food was COVERED in breading and had a chemical taste. The fried rice was decent but it was WAY too expensive. We will not be ordering again!

Horrible, cold and tasteless. Will not be back, pictures speak for themselves. When I complained to the manager he told me goodbye. No customer service.
Nonstop !
The service!!. New Fun Free
They are rude! These reviews are the truth. And the food isn't all that good, the General Tso chicken is basically batter. I've stop going, they don't even rank as a choice. There is always somewhere better.
Mae
Was good back in the day. But it's been going downhill for years now. Tonight was the last straw. General Tso's Chicken (which is a "chef special") is very sub par compared to other, cheaper places. Was kind of bitter even. Sadly that was the best part of our meal. The Hunan chicken was bland, and the egg drop soup (while still piping hot and "fresh") was straight up gelatinous. No soup-y at all. Wasted $20 on that, we'll go elsewhere from now on.

I live right down the street and eat here once a month. Most bad reviews have been on customer service, as the lady at the front desk (owner's wife?) can be brief as somewhat crass. Don't let that stop you! Every item I have had has been very good. I am eating the Mongolian Shrimp as I type, extra spicy. Very good, and good portions for lunch (~$7). The shrimp is delicious, I think 7 in the dish. The egg roll was good, crisp and yummy.....and somehow gone only a quarter way through my main dish. The hot and sour soup is delicious hot or cold. I like their egg drop soup too, some do not like it thicker, but I prefer it that way.

Great value for lunch, but box half of it if you have to be productive the rest of the day.

Wow. TERRIBLE Service. First off, they're extremely rude EVERY time they take an order...

My latest experience was the last straw: After an hour long wait, I opened the bag to find out they completely missed two items from my order. Called them about it and they actually complained to me that they were losing money on my order by having to deliver it twice!

They said they would get it out to me in another 30 min. The drive from the restaurant to my place is a little under 10 min. They said that it would take a while because they had other orders that they were going to deliver first... Asked them if they could deliver mine first, since it will have been an hour and a half since I placed my order... nope.

No discount offered, no apologies for my long wait...

Told them they pretty much lost my business. They said sorry and hung up.

New fun ree. Lately their food has been good. fast delivery and the girl who takes the order have gotten a lot better. we order from them all the time at svi.

Poor Custmer Service. The lady who takes phone orders is extremely rude. Tried ordering for delivery and she made the process overly difficult.
Eva.evans0425
Only once that delivers-Its OK. I'd rather have Chi's or PF Chang or China Delight in Bryant** Fun Ree is okay* They deliver which is plus. The order taker is RUDE-- food 4-5 out of 10. OKAY...not great. BUT they deliver!!!!
Richinar
Service and food has gone downhill in last 3 years.
They really don't care.
The price is average. The quality of the product is barely above buffet quality.
It used to be better. Maybe I was mistaken.

GET CHINESE FOOD SOMEWHERE ELSE!. Do yourself a favor and get your Chinese food elsewhere. The food is not delicious. The counter staff are not nice people. Simply put, the food is not worth one dollar. The egg drop soup is overly thickened and gooey. The menu is vague and the counter workers will not explain it to you. Stay away from the eggrolls, skip the egg drop soup, don't order the golden crispy shrimp and avoid ordering any of the Chef's Specialties. Try Mr Chen's, Fantastic China or Chi's on Old Cantrell. New Fun Ree SUCKS!!!

Shrimp Lobster Sauce or soup. Today I called in to order Shrimp Lobster Sauce when I rec'd it was a clear soup not a caramel colored sauce and it had other soup ingredients like peas and mystery meat. I called to tell them it was not as it stated lady that answered the phone was short with me and said it is a soup not a sauce. I told her that is not what I order and it is not listed as a soup on Menu. She started to yell at me and I told her I would be returning it she hung up the phone before I was done talking. When I walked back in the restaurant their was a gentleman at the counter an the lady that I talked to and took care of me during the original purchase was in the back. She started to yell very loudly at him from the back in a language that was not English. I told the gentleman that I wanted to return it. When I walked in I was prepared to go with something else but the lady continued to talk to him loudly in language that was not english waving her hands. I told him that she along with you spoke perfectly understandable english as you were charging my card. It is very rude for her not to come and address me in the same english she spoke 10min ago. I asked for a refund. I have been dining there since I moved To Little Rock in 2005, I will NOT purchase anything from them again. I have liked Shrimp with lobster sauce since I was in my teens I am 50yrs old. I have NEVER got it in the form of the clear soup. I have a very discerning pallet for food. I am from Chicago and they have some exceptional dining options. I have travel throughout the US so when I ask for Shrimp Lobster Sauce I know what to expect. Maybe geographically they don't make it the same here. That being said the customer service I received said we don't give a dam buy it or not. WELL I do enough to post this to remind you as a restaurant owner nasty food and good customer service will prompt me to take a chance on something else on your menu. NASTY FOOD AND NASTY CUSTOMER service will remind me of the better options I have in Little Rock and take my business elsewhere. I know the difference in a Sauce and a Soup.

@ Lisa Donnalley. Fried Bean Curd is offered on their menu, which is what tofu is.
Lisa Donnalley
Good prices, good food, good prices. I only wish they would included more tofu into the dishes as a protein source.

Not again. Have ordered delivery several times and the food was fine, not overly impressive but good for fast delivery. They do not take card and I have paid in the past with check or cash. They just informed me that they will not take checks that are not local. As I have ordered several times without issue with my checks, I'm annoyed and will not be ordering from here in the future. It is too much of a hassle when there are other options that will deliver and accept card/check and cash for a rainy night delivery meal.

Not the best Chinese food I've ever had, but well worth the price. Dependably fast and cheap.
Adognamedsteve
Cheap, fast, and large portions. The portions are huge and the lunch special is great.
Kyle Gregory
Chinese carry-out tastes like the others. It's pretty good Chinese food that is a touch expensive for carry-out.
David G.
No way.... I can't say that I would ever go back here, unless the people I am with in Little Rock twist my arm really hard or offer me money to go back ! I noticed that many of the comments mentioning the low prices and quantity of the food. It is confirmed that prices are reasonable and the portions are large. I like value as much as anybody, but there are certain expectations for the food. Notice the picture that I added, it is actually a rare case where the food looks better in person than pictured, but it is still lacking in taste. The Hot & Sour Soup was the best thing that I had. If quantity and price are your main objectives, you will be happy. If it is great tasting Chinese food that you are after, keep looking.

Place is ok as far as this type of food goes. I'd give it 3.5/5 stars. Most of the allure is how cheap the meals are (lunch right at $5). They also deliver in a limited area ($10 min) which is great. Will visit again!
Paedraggaidin
Good, cheap food. I love this place! I've never dined in, only had carryout and delivery, and I've never been dissatisfied with the food or the service. The lunch specials are good deals, with a large amount of food at a great price (around $6).

One of the best things is that you can get any entree made "healthy" i.e. steamed without sauce, oils, or added salt. Definitely recommended!

Easy Satisfying Take-Out Chinese. Okay, it isn't NYC, but for 8 bucks at the end of the day you can take home enough to feed three people. Call, drop by, grab and go, done. The food tastes better than most take-out Chinese in LR and (a big plus) has never made me sick. Way better and cheaper than chain fast food places.

I ordered the shrimp and chicken with cashews. Yes it had a lot of celery and cashews but this was not a big problem with me, since the sauce was good. There were only about 4 shrimp in the entire dish, which was a real shame because that was the best part. The chicken, on the other hand, tasted old. I'd say give the place a try if you're stuck in the area-otherwise I cannot recommend.
Aaron Miller
Terrible food. The cashew chicken is mostly cashews, celery and NO chicken. Orange chicken was clumpy, but better than the cashew chicken. Ordered szechuan beef and got Mongolian beef. Not much flavour. The steamed rice was the most edible out of all of these.
