We had our wedding rehearsal dinner here for about 40 people on a Saturday night in July and it was amazing. The food, ambiance and service were just perfect. Manuel worked with us on the menu - we offered filet mignon, a pasta dish with lobster, chicken herbs de provence, and a sweet pea ravioli for the vegetarians, in addition to a first course and desserts. Everything was scrumptious. Everyone gathered for cocktails ahead of time in their bar area which was adorable and worked well. It was a pretty warm July day and the interior wasn't cold-cold, but cool enough and pleasant. Maryann was an incredible stewardess of the evening, experience, and people, while Manuel worked from the kitchen. One of the best delights was that in the evening the dining room looks even more elegant, and a little less "country" than it did during the day due to their nice soft lighting (we had only seen it during the day up to that point). Everyone was able to hear the speeches, and having a few people in the dining room next door (behind a closed door) didn't bother or interrupt us or the evening at all. This is a real gem tucked away in rural mid-coast Maine!

we had dinner here last night- our party of 6 was celebrating two wedding anniversaries and the news of an expected new baby. without saying anything directly to our fabulous waiter, the staff surprised us at the end of the dinner with celebratory little tastes of port wine. i heard through the grapevine that the husband does virtually all the cooking by himself.... you never would think it's possible though, every dish so perfectly plated and tasting out-of-this-world! i would have guessed there was a staff of 15 back there! so amazing and worth every single penny. perfect experience from start to finish. Thank you Youngtown Inn!

While the menu is not extensive, the food is outstanding. The menu changes, and everything is delicious. I rarely order pasta at restaurants, but do here because the flavors they blend it with are amazing. Two members of our party ordered the steak and said it was one of the best they had eaten at a restaurant. The desserts are perfection. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and service is prompt. You never feel rushed or interrupted. The restaurant decor is the perfect blend of vintage and modern. A beautiful place to sit and enjoy a fabulous meal. Do yourself a favor and make time to visit Aster and Rose.

A gem of a place. Aster & Rose was recommended to us and we’re so glad we tried it out. A cozy restaurant with great service and food. The menu is small but has a nice variety of dishes. Our food was excellent! Cocktails great. We moved to the small bar (which has a fireplace) to have dessert and a nightcap. Definitely worth a visit for dinner. We’ll be back.

You have to go If you haven’t been to Maine Aster & Rose is the reason to! Mary is the best server we have ever experienced - and I do mean she was an integral part of a wonderful dining experience! The food is impeccably prepared and presented. Our tastebuds are so happy! Be sure to enjoy all you can including the perfect cocktails. Incredible find!

While in the Camden area, my husband and I spent the weekend at the Youngtown Inn, and had an excellent dinner there. (An earlier 5 star review by Sarah Sagarin is spot on.) As usual when we visit midcoast Maine, we had eaten at famed Primo Restaurant (Rockland) the night before, and both preferred our meal at A&R. I had a seasonal tomato salad, the roast cod (succulent) and shared the blueberry cake with lemon curd and anise-hyssop ice cream. My husband had charred octopus, and braised short ribs. Waiter Sam was attentive, a challenge given that the restaurant was short a server due to "Hurricane" Lee tree damage earlier that day. We had heard that A&R was becoming a 'destination', and we can see why. Kudos to Michael and Karrie!

Oh my gosh, what a lovely way to spend my 60th birthday. My husband read the description and selected the restaurant. We made a reservation, which I highly recommend as they were very busy. Kate was our server, but all service staff ensured that we enjoyed our experience. We started with appetizers: 1. Local Mushroom Salad with Tahini Vinaigrette and a Poached Egg 2. Chicken Liver on Toast with Pickled Shallot & Strawberry, Spicy Honey & Pistachio Entrees: 1. Maine Halibut with Potato Salad, Tonnato Aiolli & Radish 2. Duck Breast with Gai Lan, Carrot, Beluga Lentil, Citrus Demi Glaze Nicely balanced flavors throughout. We asked for a special dessert option, with no notice (shame on us), but they happily obliged! The atmosphere was comfortable yet elegant. We definitely recommend and will dine again when we are in town.

I cannot say enough good things about both the service and the food at Aster & Rose. Since my husband and I first heard of their opening a few months ago we have made a point to come as often as we can. The staff and owners are incredibly kind and welcoming. They have a great bar with a cozy fireplace and funky wallpaper. The main dining room is warm and inviting. The drinks are creative and the food is absolutely delicious. I have ordered the smoked squash agnolotti so many times it might be embarrassing but it is so good I can't pass it up! My husband has celiac and they were very gracious in accommodating his allergy. If you are in Maine for a visit, do not miss this spot! Better yet, if you live in the area, make this your go to night out! So happy to have Aster & Rose join the Midcoast community!

Delicious meal with friendly and attentive service from Neil. My friend and I both had the Caesar salad, scallops and shared the chocolate custard for dessert. Enjoyed it all. Loved sitting near the fireplace in the cozy bar area.
