Review Vivian's Restaurant Bill's Barbecue - Lincoln City

One of my favorite hidden gems on the coast. The food is delicious, the staff are amazing, and the atmosphere is perfect. We recently stopped for breakfast and we all were very pleased with the food and service. The portions were enormous so you definitely get your money's worth. The chicken fried steak was delicious, the biscuits and jam were amazing and tasted homemade. I would recommend stopping by for food anytime you're in town. We will definitely be back again!

Charming diner with great views of the river, it smelled delicious as we walked inside. I ordered the special of the day, German pancake with lemon cream and raspberries, it was very good. Tabitha was our waitress and she was so wonderful and great to talk to. We are definitely coming back!

We went into Vivians restaurant in the morning. I had a skillet, and my wife had some Bbq ribs. From when we arrived to when we finished the service was excellent! Our server had an awesome attitude and knew her menu very well. We had just had a bad service experience at a hotel restaurant the night before. The service and food at the Phantoms restaurant at the Inn at Spanish Head was very poor and expensive. The last Visit to Vivíans restaurant made the last day of our weekend at Lincoln city all better. I can't wait to go back and eat there again. Everything is made fresh and delicious 😋 ( and 1/2 the price)

It is CRIMINAL that this place isn't more popular or fully staffed. Every single thing that makes a good hole in the wall Vivian's EXCELS at. Clean, muted colors, inoffensive lighting. Crisp, clean, filtered air. Extremely friendly staff: They started lunch service nearly an HOUR EARLY just for my fiancé and I. Anything on the menu that includes their beautiful, succulent, smoked meat is a delight. The double stacked BBQ pork sandwich is my favorite, I was shocked to find out I enjoyed applesauce on a sandwich so much when paired with amazing pork. My fiance enjoyed the spinach salad melange, with giant and flavorful chunks of blue cheese. Will be back every chance we get.

What a gem! 💎 We came in on a Sunday to find that they were only doing to go orders, due to staffing and the kite festival. We almost decided to leave it for another time. I am so glad we decided to stay!! We were given the option to get our food to go and then eat there just with no table service, which was totally fine. The one server (Tabitha) who was working was so gracious and positive. The atmosphere is lovely and the food was fantastic!

Absolutely excellent breakfast location. The portions match the price, and the quality is unmatched. Everything is homemade, including the heavenly biscuits and their accompanying jam and butter. Recently renovated and reopened. #1 choice for breakfast on the coast.

The food here was delicious. My husband does a lot of bbq/smoked food, and even he was impressed. Their spicy bbq sauce is so darn good. I tried the daily special, and while it was good, I wished I had ordered the bbq. Our waiter was great, and the restaurant was very clean. We will definitely be going back on our next trip to Lincoln City.

This place is good. The food is wonderful, the atmosphere is unique. The tables are not all crammed together like some of the more touristy places in town. great place for a quite meal... And where else can you have brisket and eggs for breakfast!

Amazing pancakes and fries. They had non-gmi ketchup, very rare and healthy. Dwayne "the Captain", and Tabitha the server are good vibes. Super chill place and great food

My new favorite place for breakfast in Lincoln City. I've been going to Lincoln City for over 30 years for rest and relaxation and I have tried a lot of restaurants in all those visits. I don't have to look for a great breakfast place any longer. Vivian's is it. From the best coffee I've had in years to the fresh homemade biscuit with in-house made berry preserves l was hooked. I also had the smoked brisket with eggs and country style red potatoes. The brisket had just enough smoke without over powering the plate and was plentiful and juicy. The eggs were cooked to perfection and the red potatoes made me forget my preference for the hash browns style I have always preferred. Can't wait to get back to the coast to try their lunch or dinner selections. Maybe I'll just stay all day breakfast through dinner.

My girlfriend, her daughter, and I went here today after some shopping at the outlet mall. We had never even heard of the place, but we decided to give it a try. It sit against a creek and has windows you can watch the wildlife wander by out of. It has a cozy atmosphere and everyone was very welcoming. Our waiter was super friendly and prompt, we never had to wait to be taken care of. We ordered the country fried steak, chicken strips, and the brisket BBQ sandwich. The food all tasted great and was brought out pretty quickly. All around a great experience and we will definitely be coming back.

Finally got a chance to grab lunch and it was good. The burgers seemed to be the best of the options.

Very good and enjoyable! Although it's not on the beach, it is located on the river and has nice views. The food was really good and the service was friendly.

The smoked brisket hash and the country fried steak both were amazing. And our waitress was so sweet gave us some good recommendations to do around town!

The double stack pulled pork sandwich is amazing! And the ranch is probably the best I’ve ever had🤤

Not impressed. Food was luke warm and had no flavor at all. Had the pulled pork breakfast and the meat had not flavor at all. Toast was cold, butter wouldn't even melt. Waitress was very nice and the view was pleasant
Wonderful food and service. They have moved to the following address. 1115SE 1st street Lincoln City. Highly recommended if you want friendly people and a nice meal.

My husband and I came to Vivian's for breakfast on our last day at the beach and were so sad we hadn't learned of this place sooner! We shared the corned beef hash and the breakfast skillet! Both plates of food were outstanding! My husband even took the leftovers home which he never does. For the skillet you can choose to put two different kinds of meat in it (we chose bacon and ham) it also had fresh peppers onions, sliced potatoes, and plenty of cheese covered in two eggs (we went with over medium). The corned beef hash was creamy and savoury. We also had a fresh biscuit with homemade jam that came with it. The biscuit and jam were so good! We really loved this restaurant and were sad that we only discovered it on our last day at the beach.

Every time my friends and I go to Lincoln City we stop here specifically for their yummy, thick, rich clam chowder! I cant stand the runny chowders with barely any clams. Vivian's is one of my favorite places for chowder because the flavor and consistency. The BBQ isn't the greatest, most times it's been dry but the fish and chips and chowder are spot on. I like good quality food and think it's worth the price.

Excellent seafood. I had the local wild salmon, which was - as promised - lightly seasoned and grilled to perfection. It came with deliciously prepared carrots and kale in garlic butter. I ordered a cup of chowder in lieu of potatoes; it was much thicker than I've had before, but the flavor was great. My husband had the seafood fettuccini in marinara, also perfectly cooked. The service was also fast and friendly. We didn't try the BBQ, but I thought the dual menu/dual owner idea was charming. Will definitely go back to sample other menu items and the dessert menu.

Quite Suprised. We were stuck in road construction and decided this was a restaurant close by. What a diamond in the rough. The food was very good, and the portions were big. Although I asked for my BLT bacon to be crispy the food was great. Would highly recommend this place. You have to wait a bit for the food but well worth it. Would go back again when visiting the area. Thanks Vivians!

Wow my two piece fish and chips were good my guy said his beef brisket was not good at all. My parents did not like the pulled pork. Needless to say, we will not be back

Don't waste your time or Money. My family and I were seated fairly quickly and it did not appear to be busy at all. We waited 35-40 minutes for our meal to come. We were a party of 3 adults and 2 children. I could not eat much of my Salmon Ceasar salad (because of gastric bypass approx. 6 months ago-I was only able to eat approx. 5 bites). When I went to the bathroom and came back, the table was cleared and so was my plate. They threw away my lunch while I was in the bathroom! I paid for a Salmon salad that was barely nibbled on, and then thrown away! I didn't even have the option to take it home. The waitress offered to make me another salad and I said that what I was really interested in was the Salmon (because it was good and post-op gastric bypass patients need protein all the time). She just said, "oh". When I went to pay my ticket, she grabbed a former customers ticket and started ringing us up. I said, "No, this is my ticket. The one with my credit card on it." Then she said, "are you sure you don't want another salad?" I said again, "I was interested in the meat that was on it." She said again, "oh." I CANNOT believe that I left this place a tip! ALSO, my sisters BBQ sandwich was very dry.

Food wasn't bad at all, but their average food couldn't ever live up t the price and the waitress wasn't that friendly : (

The Sign Should say "For Rent". Went for dinner on a Friday night. I ordered the smoked barbecue ribs. They were the driest ribs I had ever tasted. They lacked any smoke flavor and were not tender. There was very little meat on the bone. The sauces were over powered by the amount of cinnamon in them. The best part of the meal were the french fries. The absolute worst barbecue I have ever eaten.

My wife ordered the barbecued beef brisket. It was so dry that it was inedible. The baked beans that came with it were burnt.

To the restaurant's credit they cooked her a different meal without charging us for the brisket, but for the less expensive hamburger. That too was dry and flavorless, barely edible. To their discredit they don't believe there is anything wrong with their food. The service was okay, but someone needs to be checking the quality of the food coming out of the kitchen before it is served to customers.

I am glad I didn't waste money on the more expensive menu items. We will not be going back, ever!

A jewel in Lincoln City. The roast beef was tender and flavorful. Also the chicken and pear dish was great. Our server was awesome - she went to great lengths to help us with our gluten free diet.

What a joke !. This place has the atmosphere of "Grandmas tea room" rather than a place for barbeque, and the instrumental John Denver reminded me of being in a dentist lobby,..not even a picture of a western scene. The menu ? $9.95 of mozerella sticks ? not even a handfull of chips, spoonful of beans, coleslaw, to go on a $12 or so sandwich without costing extra ? we where the only two people in the place, and after spending 25 minutes trying to find something worth staying I finally left after I heard the timer and sound of the microwave door shut...save your money and grill at home.

Breakfast was pretty good & a fair price. The interior was much improved since I was last inside this bldg (different restaurant back then).

We stopped here late, almost 8:pm. They close at 8. With a 62% rating, I didn't expect much. We wouldn't have stopped if I had seen the urban spoon rating prior to being seated. I'm glad I didn't look. It took a bit long to get our meal but it was worth the wait. Pulled Pork was perfect. Angle hair pasta was also cooked to perfection. We also had a Shrimp Louis and a fresh pear/walnut salad with a very unique dressing that seemed strange at first but paired exceptionally well with the salad. The service was first rate. The wait staff are older, professional and didn't miss a beat. They seemed to know we needed something before we actually did. You know the saying, a clean fork on the table before the one you dropped hits the floor. I can't say they were perfect. Everywhere has a difficulties now and then but all in all, I would give our experience a 95%. They make most everything fresh when ordered and it shows. Even the little things like fresh brewed ice tea and they made a new pot of coffee THEN asked us if we would like more, well after closing, knowing they may not even poor a single cup. We were the only ones there an my wife had already had 2 large cups. Its the details that make the difference. We will definitely go back when in the area. It's disheartening to see bad ratings and reviews on an establishment that works hard and is successful. I think one should give it another try before they make such harsh generalized statements based on a single experience. Maybe you were having a bad day, not them.

Amazing. I LOVE this restaurant, I know people say Bill doesn't know how to do BBQ, but Bill is not the cook. Vivian doesn't cook there either! My 2 aunts own this restaurant, Monica and Ann, there prepare WONDERFUL clam chowder and AMAZING cod. I have never beed a big fan of chowder but my aunt is a goddess with hers. And the cod, words cannot describe the greatness. I love it, I LOVE IT. They are such kind people, eat here, you will LOVE it. I promise.

Nice meal, tasty and filling! Quiet, not a tourist trap! Carrot cake is to die for!

Stopped here for lunch. Seated prior to reading reviews and with reviews was not expecting much. Chowder was a bit thick but good. I ordered crab and shrimp melt was very rich but also quite good. My wife had the cheese burger also good. Service was friendly and prompt. Overall a good experience.

Retired couple. Great service. Much value for money. We had the special lunch for the day. Nice bowl of Navy bean soup with 1/2 of a ham sandwich. Their half a sandwich was most generous sized ! All for $5. Then we had the hummingbird cake with black walnuts, bananas and pineapple. WONDERFUL !!! The person who waited on us picked out the biggest piece of cake for us . We never asked for any special treatment but we certainly received it.!!

BBQ Served Past Its Prime - Vivian's & Bill's. If you are looking for good and fresh BBQ, Vivian's Restaurant and Bills BBQ is a place to avoid. I took my family there because they advertise their BBQ as their specialty. Maybe the BBQ was good at some point but what actually makes it to your plate is another creature all together. My wife ordered the most expensive BBQ on the menu, the Trio Platter ($23): the brisket was reheated so many times that it was black, no flavor, and soggy; the chicken was dry; the ribs could not be pulled from the bone with a tow truck. They gave us some pulled pork to replace the ribs: waterlogged and over-seasoned (and not the good seasoning). My plate of just brisket ($16) was a little larger pile of the same soggy, re-cooked meat that was on my wife's Trio Platter. I ordered Mac-n-Cheese ($11) for my kids because the description sounded gourmet style, I guess if Velveeta is gourmet then they knocked that one out of the park. The only redeeming quality of Vivian's and Bill's would have been the clam chowder, if we did not have to send it back to be heated to proper temperature. Overall, we are sad to find such poor quality being served in such a beautiful town. Rating: AVOID!

HORRIBLE BARBECUE !!!. I had the beef ribs. So much smoke flavor you could not taste the meat or sauce. Ribs were VERY overdone. Beans were not bad. Coleslaw probably from same vendor as KFC. Service was good but very long wait for meal that was probably straight from the microwave. Extremely overpriced and kind of a snootyness about the place. Save your money. Bill has NO idea how to make barbecue. The parking lot across the street was full, this one was empty. I now know why.

Very good barbeque. We had a good bbq dinner here. Portions are large (we had kielbasa and brisket and could have shared one meal). Each dinner came with two sides (coleslaw, green salad, baked beans, etc.) and a dinner roll. This is a relatively new establishment which we definitely would like to see succeed. Prices are moderate. Good service and friendly people.
