Upon entering MOD (Liberty, MO) just past 12:00pm today, the location was clean and operating well. July 19 Clay County issued a mask mandate requiring face masks and coverings to be worn in all indoor areas of public accommodation. This decision was made due to the rapid increase in the number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations of Clay County residents in recent weeks. Signs were visible at the entrance and inside the establishment indicating social distancing and mask wearing guidelines. One couple walked in behind us, not complying with mask wearing guidelines. At the ordering counter, the two were told they would need to follow the guidelines in order to receive service. He began yelling at the female employee berating her and shouting profanities at the staff. The staff calmly and politely asked the couple to leave the establishment. Shortly after, another male patron took off his mask and began screaming profanities at patrons. He was also asked to leave before placing his order. The four all female staff at MOD kept cool under pressure. They were respectful of all other patrons (children were in the establishment during the incident), and were very apologetic. The staff at this location today was top notch, and steadfast. In a situation where it would have been easy to get upset, they all held it together as a team. Nicely done, ladies!
