Most good local BBQ places have a faithful local following. It is also easy to see why people will travel for miles and miles to sample what Red State BBQ offers. My eyes quickly spotted the double smoked brisket on the menu, and I couldn't resist. Adding the baked beans - which were fantastic - and the mac and cheese completed my lunch. One of the most extensive menus I have seen at a BBQ place.

Decided to call on a pick up order on the way back to Lexington from Louisville. Ordered a full rack of ribs, and smoked buffalo wings with Mac n cheese/beans for rhe sides. Everything was excellent. Very friendly staff, told them I was 45 minutes away and made sure came everything came out hot. Got me craving some summer days. I'll certainly be back!

I haven’t tried everything on the menu …. Yet.
But what I’ve had has been great!!
Pulled pork, Ribs, Brisket, it’s all amazing and I love the variety of sauces available. Something for every palate😋
The sides I’ve had are really good too.

Awesome atmosphere with good food! Had the two meet with brisket and sausage. Sausage was great. Brisket was ok. Not Texas brisket, but pretty good for a place in Ohio. They’re various BBQ sauces were really good!

Anything less than a 5 star is un-American!!! The service is sooo friendly and the order was fast and delicious! Pulled pork, brisket and side orders of macNcz and coleslaw were amazing!! My photos don’t do it justice but suffice it to say you can cut this ambiance with a knife!!!!

Red State BBQ just outside Lexington, KY. I rarely trust a brisket outside of Texas but I took a chance today. I'm glad I did. No smoke ring, but we all know smoke rings aren't always the best flavor indicator. These were some extremely tender slices. And, when paired with the Apple Bourbon sauce, oh my! Red State is a small stop in the road, maybe 15 tables available inside. Lots of out of state tags in the parking lot. Counter service with no frills paper and plastic plasticware. A great setting for an excellent meal. A multiple time Best of Kentucky winner, I highly recommend enjoying a meal at Red State BBQ during your trip along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. This is my very favorite BBQ place. Great food and nice folks. Double smoked brisket snd beer cheese grits are must-haves!! Also try the South Carolina Mustard bbq sauce. Unbelievable!

The pulled chicken was amazing, perfectly seasoned and juicy. The pulled pork was good too, not dried out. The brisket (boyfriend got it) was the best brisket I've ever had at a BBQ joint. Staff was very friendly!! We will be back!!
