Very disappointing meal, especially for the price. My mom's fish was burnt black and hard. She took it back to the counter and they told her they would bring her another piece, which was raw and slimy. The batter was not even fully done on the inside. My chicken tenders were just over-fried and more batter than chicken. It was a waste of money, and not cheap! Edited to add: I immediately reached out to the restaurant via email as they requested and have received no response over a month later.

UPDATE: Just had salad here and had to knock off two stars because was horrible meal and my wife got less portion than usual. My salad was just a few leafs of lettuce with a slice of radish in a small paper bowl for $7.99! The lettuce was gritty and had a eyelash hair. Also the added cod (for $5!) was half raw. Terrible! OLD: 5 stars just for the taste of the fish n chips...definitely best I ever had. Nice and flaky fish with just right batter fried perfectly. The only thing is I wish they had malt vinegar in bottle. My wife is from Japan and lived in England four years and is on par with the best she has had. High scores on the health inspection reports too!

Great food!! I had the catfish and grits!! Priced at 12.99. My daughter had the fish tacos priced at 10.99. Now the cashier was not friendly though. Other than that definitely worth every penny.

Not impressed. The menu looked wonderful...tried the clam chowder, it tasted like it was from a can. I got the shrimp special.. the fries were mediocre, but the shrimp was really tasty...the sauce was sweet, but not too sweet. All in all, it was not what I was hoping for.

Like all of Ouita Michel's restaurants, Smithtown Seafood does not disappoint. I had the KY Proud Catfish and Chips and couldn't have been happier. Crisp breading, delicious hush puppies, fries and tartar sauce. All parts well executed and not overly fancy, with country food you can go overboard quickly with dressing it up and suddenly it isn't comfort food anymore.

It just isn't good anymore. The batter on the fried fish is well made and the fish itself is good...but everything was very overdone. The fried fish was nearly burnt the hush puppies were hard and tough, the fries was overdone and soggy. The coleslaw was made maybe yesterday (possibly the day before). My husband got a buffalo fish sandwich that he used to ordee frequently and love, but this one was much smaller than the bun and was (again) overdone, with barely any sauce. How disappointing. I used to love Smithtown, but the interesting menu isn't executed well anymore. Go for Atomic, Pasture, or Athenian Grill if you're at the Barn.

The food is fine, but as somebody else mentioned the tacos specifically are a ridiculous price. You get three traditionally sized (small) tacos, which is fine. But for $11 you should at least get a side with it. For $9 my friend got fish and chips, which came with chips, a hushpuppy, cole slaw and a drink (that's the lunch special price, but the normal one is the same price without a drink I think). I'm not sure what exactly they have against the taco loving public, but they should really adjust the price of that one menu item.

Cafeteria style setting where you can order your food and seat yourself. The salad had plenty of good toppings (quinoa, chickpeas, kale, etc), but the serving of cod with it was very tiny. It was cooked well, blackened with tons of flavor, but the serving size seemed too small for the salad.
