Review The Cellar Bar & Grille - Lexington

Amber Gray-Kurz
Decided to go here because we love Shamrock's and the two restaurants are affiliated. The service was friendly but the food was slow even though there were only two tables in the who restaurant. The Chicken Bacon Ranch Fries were absolutely delicious. The Beef & Beer Cheese sandwich was good but the Cellar Burger was just okay.

Great neighborhood bar and grill. Usually has good food and drink specials. Food is well done bar fare that's a step above comparable places. Good amount of TVs if you're there for a game. Great for groups. Nice patio as well.

Food is excellent and decent price. Atmosphere is good. Lots of TV screens and lots of outdoor seating. I got the Beef and Beer Cheese Sandwich. It was very good. But not as good as the Buffalo Chicken Sliders!!

We had a wonderful dinner! We asked for our twins food to come out with our appetizer, not only did it but it was also cool enough they could go on and eat. Our appetizer was just out of the oven! Our meals were good, wished they had a little more flavor but that is more personal preference vs food quality. We will be back.

The service and food were very good. I got a BLT and fries... Their BLT's are the best in town! My husband got the burger and fries. He ordered a rare burger and it came out well done. Our server QUICKLY corrected the situation. Thank you!

Excellent pub food and drinks! We had multiple appetizers. The beer cheese; delicious. The peel and eat shrimp; perfectly spicy. The mini corn dogs; great. Everything is delicious. Lots of TVs for watching sports. Highly recommend.

I'm not a bar food person, but the salmon entree with sweet potatoe fries was awesome! Our server was great. Yes, things were slow to come, but I could tell more staff was needed and she did an excellent job trying to keep up. I wish I could remember her name, she never stopped moving and got food and drinks to us as fast as she could. Everyone is just short staffed these days and it's unfortunate. Whomever is reading this, please don't get upset during this time when things take longer than you would like. They are doing their best.

Traveling with the hubs for business, this was a place he has visited in the past. Excellent service (Casey our bartender was awesome) we sat at the bar, had Happy Hour drinks, played some Keno and had dinner. Everything was delish and prices are awesome. They have a beautiful patio, not opened yet runs Keeneland to Keeneland. Fun atmosphere, lots of TV’s for sporting events. Kind of tucked away in a neighborhood.

Tonights experience was an absolute joke. I made the server aware of a food allergy upon arrival to make sure it could be accommodated; no big deal if it couldn't be, we would have left and eaten somewhere else. Long story short, the staff was clueless, gave me false information regarding the menu, and it took 15 minutes of my own time to investigate further only to find that they were indeed about to serve me something that contained the allergen. Giving an extra star because my chicken was good, however my husbands sandwich was not.

Our favorite place in town. Fun place to hang out, have a few drinks, watch a game or listen to live music! Super laid back! You can't go wrong going here!

You buy a sandwich and only get two quarters of the sandwich. They actually cut the bread WTF who does that. I would rather you raise the price than serve me half of a sandwich. Side note don’t get the pastrami it’s dryer than beef jerky

A friend and I was there yesterday for the Lexington Burger Week, the Burger was really good, the atmosphere was good, things looked clean, customers seem to be enjoying themeself as we were, our server was very nice, kind, beautiful smile BUT she was not a good server, we had to wait for a very long time to be waited on, took a long time to get our food etc, she never refilled our drinks, she took care of a table of 4 b4 she did us and we were there long b4 they were, we asked for water to go and we never got it, All in all our service was very poor!!! This is why I gave a 4 Star, But she won't keep us from coming back!!!

I am a regular patron of the Cellar. I always order the Turkey Avocado Wrap and request for it to be grilled. In the past, they were ALWAYS willing to do so; however, the past several times I've been told that "the kitchen refuses to grill your sandwich". I could completely understand if they were busy, but they were incredibly slow each time. I've never known of a restaurant's kitchen to refuse a special request, especially for a regular customer. I still love the atmosphere, bartenders, servers, and management, but I hope that the management has a conversation with the kitchen, as recent experience is causing me to not want to return.

Attended a reunion Cellar Bar & Grille yesterday. The staff couldn't have been nicer, the food & drink were outstanding, & we couldn't have asked for a better venue. It might have been my first visit, but it certainly won't be my last!

It's a great place to watch your football game and horse racing (both on big screen TV's). Food was very good, staff were friendly and attentive. Definitely will go there again.

Atmosphere was great. Only negayive was my food. Fries great, sandwich very dry and touch. 1 sliver of meat and rest was bread.

I think the Cellar is the best for service and music and food we had a wonderful time for our 45th Reunion, thanks for a great time, we enjoyed our time there 👍❤️

The Cellar is one of Lexington's best spots to watch a UK game. It's always packed so get there early. Food is good, especially the shrimp/crab dip and Bang Bang shrimp. Bar is fun. Bring a bunch of good friends.

Not the best, not the worst. The cell reception is terrible, but the company is good. Normal American fare at a reasonably fair price. A little higher than I'd like, but I've had worse for more. Middle of the road dining with a great atmosphere.

We had an unbelievable evening. Thank you for your attention and staffing for our Retirement party. Great food, quick service with very friendly staff. The B.O.P. will have many more parties here.

Very exsguist but dont let that mislead you very upscale suit tie or just go in there decked out with uk gear go # BIG BLUE. Needs more people my age and buisness minded people that might buy you a drink

I have only been here for UK games so I cannot base my entire dinning experience on how crazy it get there. If you want to watch a UK game in a good environment, this is the place for you. As for the food; their menu is very unique because they either have $9 sandwiches, wraps or burgers or $25 entrees. It really isn't anything personal, I just didn't enjoy the food and it was cold as all get out in there. I probably will be back for a UK game in the future.

Nice and Quiet Out of the Way Bar and Grill with OK Food and Price Range. I am a regular diner at the Cellar. I always avoid dining during University of Kentucky Game Days so my service is always spot on. Best foods to order are chicken bowtie pasta with broccoli and white wine. Grouper fingers and grouper platter excellent. Salmon BLT and salmon dinner over rice very good. Chicken fingers are great but hamburgers and hotdogs subpar. Drink prices are reasonable, a game room for children a win win evening for any family. I give the Cellar 3.5 stars out of 5, if quality of food can be bumped up the Cellar could be a 4 star bar and grill.

Periodically go back.... Some good products and good service. Ask for Andi if she is there. Very good server..

-----23 Oct, 2013-----

Pretty decent lunch. Started off with the Triple Threat Dips... Salsa, Chili and Queso. A lot of food and a good value for $7. Pretty tasty as well. Would have been nice if it had been served with some house fried chips instead of bagged chips.

Cup of chili was pretty generic but a good starter as well.

Pastrami Grill was good except for a little burnt crust and the Beef and Beer cheese was interesting and different. Sliced beef topped with bacon and beer cheese with a pretzel bun. The twist is the bun had been deep fried. Don't judge it until you have tried it... Was pretty good!

Discovered a new product while I was there. Had mac and cheese as a side which was unremarkable until I put the Queso on it. Now THAT was good.

Look forward to coming back for dinner.

The Cellar Bar & Grille. My family and I have eaten here on several occasions, recently we just moved to the area and have invited several friends to have an appetizer or meal and drinks. Our friends are amazed and call it the hidden gem of Lexington. Great staff, well priced, wonderful ambiance, I would recommend for a casual night out or a place to watch you favorite team on the big screens!

A Fanatastic Place to Eat. This is a great place to come and eat. I have been on a date with my husband here, we bring our kids here (they have a game room for them), we have reserved the private dining room for a birthday party (awesome), we have been here for a larger birthday party and we come here a lot to watch sports! The food is fantastic, the staff is great and the atmosphere is very welcoming. This place is pretty new and it seems to get busier and busier. I love the BLT, Shrimp & Crab Dip, Blackened Sirloin, Bowtie Pasta and the Cellar Chips. They have a killer patio and on the weekends they have live music out there. Really is a gem on this side of town!

Great Dining. I have eaten at the Cellar many times and never, repeat never, had a bad meal. The blackened sirloin is excellent as is the bourbon glazed salmon. Prices are reasonable for a fine restaurant. This is a great place to eat. I have found all the the staff and management to be courteous and friendly. We Never had to wait long for a meal.

The Cellar - bring some cash. I went to The Cellar for a friend's birthday and had fun visiting friends and meeting some new faces. I must say though, the day I went, there was a game and it was PACKED. I'm talking crazy busy. The menu has a few signature Kentucky-style dishes, but mostly pub-type food. And wow, this place is EXPENSIVE if you decide to have a couple drinks. I ordered and appetizer and two beers - ran me $30 before tip. Honestly, I can't say that I'll return to The Cellar simply because I know of other much much cheaper places in Lexington to eat well and drink cheap. On the upside, the place is absolutely gorgeous and very pretty for parties. They also do weddings and host other events. Definitely try it out, but be sure to bring about $50 per person if you decide to drink.

Hands down, the best sports bar in Lexington. Plenty of screens, all NFL games, enough patrons to create some energy but never so many that it's crowded. And GREAT food!

Every time we come here to eat, we are delightfully surprised. Tonight the service and the food were both excellent. The chicken wings are the perfect size and crispiness and the bartender who was cooking too made us his own special mixture if wing sauces. The main reason I keep coming back here though is the beef and beer cheese sandwich. It is soooo good! The pretzel bread roll makes me wish every sandwich I ever ate came on one, and the beer cheese with crunchy bacon only adds to how good it tastes. I recommend you try this sandwich, I know I will be back!!

Worst Meal I Have Ever Had. I ate at the Cellar on Sunday, June12, 2011. I ordered a simple grilled chicken and baked potato meal. It was horrible. We waited at least 30 minutes to be served, and my chicken was over-cooked (my 3 year old, who loves grilled chicken, spit it out and my friend tasted it and agreed it was awful) and my potato was under-cooked (the one I got from Wendy's the next day was much better). The waitress was inattentive. When I pointed out why I had not eaten any of my meal, the manager did take it off my bill, but she did not comp my children's meals or offer me any sort of gift certificate to return in the future. I have eaten there several times and found the food average at best, but Sunday, it was down right awful, and I do not think I will return there.

Regular food, but a fun place. Went during Keeneland season as every other restaurant had a 2 hour wait. I live right next to this restaurant so I was excited to find it. It was still busy but a little off the beaten path so not as crowded. Decorated very nicely and centered around a stage. Live music is rare in Lexington at 7pm so while the band was not stellar it was much appreciated. The food was your typical bar food. But I would definitely return. Its a good place to go in a group with friends where the food and drinks are reasonable.

The Cellar fits Landsdowne's community. For the last few years the Signature Club has been trying to work in the right restaurant. First they had a members only fine dining restaurant, that didn't work. Then the people who own Annette's downtown took over and opened a new beach style restaurant for the public, that didn't work either. Now it's The Cellar, an upscale sports bar and it looks like this one will stick.

From what I've seen in the reviews and from WOM, everyone has seemed to like this place. So my group wanted to give it a try and went with expectations that this would live up to their reviews. It did, The Cellar hits a home run when it comes to the simple dishes you'd want at a sports bar. What makes them unique? The quality. Lexington is full of chain restaurants that screw up the simplest pub food items. It's nice to now have a place that can fix this dilemma. Their beer cheese plate, spinach artichoke dip, mini brats are all good. I had the burger and fries and it was great.

Along with good food is their great service and atmosphere. The employees are very nice and the facility looks great with a huge outdoor patio. If you're trying to get away from all these crazy chain restaurants in Lexington, this is a nice place to pick.

Very nice and fun place, good burgers. My first dining occasion at the Cellar occurred during the Cats Final Four game. I left there with happy thoughts (about The Cellar…). I wouldn't normally order anything besides drinks at a local bar. I know I can fix a better whatever they are grilling, but I had a burger anyway. I was very impressed, yeah, a burger I know, right!? But it was a perfect mid-rare, good quality ground beef fresh and hand-smashed, the toppings were good and fresh too. Considering it was the busiest night anyone could imagine, I walked away full of cheap buckets of beer and a good burger in my stomach, all with very good service. I have been back since!

SO good!!!. This was my first trip to The Cellar and I was very impressed. The decor/ambiance is great and the food is even better. Don't miss the Mini Brats appetizer! I don't think you could go wrong with anything you ordered here. Service is very attentive as well. Looking forward to going back soon!

Great food and fun. The lobster bisque is awesome. My steak was perfect. They have an excellent selection of beers and wine and liquor. The servers are friendly and attentive. They even have a game room. I give them a 10 out 10.

Great casual. Plenty of HD tv screens, yet not busy and obnoxious like BWWs. The food is american-bar like yet done in a tasteful manner.

Great place to watch golf with your father
