Review Alfalfa Restaurant - Lexington

The Jackfruit Sliders were very convincing. Vegan Sausage Biscuits and Gravy was pretty good too. Dog friendly for outside seating but there's no covered patio. I found that I was waiting for service outside. But I noticed that my waitress was very very busy and she was still polite and attentive. So 5 stars for great attitude.

The BEST vegan brunch options! Our server was fantastic- she made sure everything was vegan friendly. We love the style and vibe of this restaurant. Everything was cooked to perfection. We were craving a savory, home style breakfast and that’s what we got! We’ll be back!

Absolutely delicious and loved this place in the heart of Lexington on the main street. The food was fresh, well prepared, good ingredients, and delicious. Compliments to the chef and staff that walked me through the rich history of the restaurant. It started out as a college hangout and dive for a different crowd than the norm. The setting is in a old building setting that you can tell has rich history. You will also find local art work on the walls that give it a nice touch. Try them out you won't be disappointed. My rating for this place is 10/10.

A friend and I went for their vegan dinner night. The first item is a side salad made of coleslaw. The second is a side salad, but it is only lettuce and dressing, where are the vegetables to make this a salad? The next photo is the two salads and the jackfruit crab cakes. The cakes were tasty and topped with what tasted like a spicy Dijon mustard. The red beans and rice was black eyed peas, rice, and plenty of vegetables. It was OK but very, very little flavor. I was also expecting the beans to be kidney beans not black eyed peas. The next item was the impossible shepherds pie. This was my favorite item on the menu. Impossible meat on the bottom, and mashed potatoes on top, but there was entirely too much thyme seasoned throughout the dish. More salt and pepper, less thyme next time. The side dishes we tried were the Thai brussels sprouts, and the cauliflower au gratin. The brussels sprouts were very tasty I was happy and did not have to add any seasoning. The au gratin left much to be desired it came in a large piece like a cauliflower steak was very tough and had zero taste. Lastly, we had dessert of a vegan cookie, brownie, both topped with soy ice cream. We were both very happy with this. I am not vegan but I thought I would learn something new going to this dinner. I did not want to give a bad review just because I was not familiar with the food. The service was great the portions were decent and all in all I think a little salt would have gone a long way in these dishes. We were grateful for the experience, and I will be back to try other menu items.

Very psyched to find a good breakfast spot while passing through. Had the vegan sausage and gravy, which was delicious but a little on the not warm side. I’ve added this spot to my KY awesome restaurant list.

It had been awhile since I had the chance to go to Alfalfa's, so I thought why not visit before the downtown Veteran's Day Parade! We arrived around 11:30am on a chilly Saturday morning in November after parking a few blocks away in case there were any road closings. My least favorite part of downtown is the parking, but we didn't have any issues and a short walk is good for the body. There might normally be some road parking or garage parking nearby, so parking shouldn't be much of an issue. Plenty of tables were available that day, so we were seated quickly. Everything on the menu sounded great and I wanted to try almost everything haha! The problem I had is that most of the entrees are breakfast oriented and I'm unfortunately allergic to eggs. They had a few other options that didn't include eggs, but I didn't want those, of course. I decided on the breakfast burritos and asked if they could replace the eggs with beans and they were able to oblige. So, not exactly a breakfast item any longer but at least I could eat it and it was very good. I also decided to order a breakfast smoothie and it was delicious. They do source locally and have vegan options so that is great and the staff was super friendly and professional so it was a very nice visit. Be sure to check their hours before you go. I don't know if they have settled on just being a breakfast and lunch place or if they will change it up and offer dinner hours again at some point. We tried to visit a second time in December and didn't realize they no longer had dinner hours so we made the trip for nothing. Luckily we parked in the library garage and were not charged a fee for our 10 minutes parked.

Excellent food and service. Delicious pescatarian, vegetarian and vegan options too. I had the avocado grilled cheese, but it looked and smelled so good that I forgot to take a photo before I ate. The owner Wali was very friendly as well, he goes out of his way to make you feel right at home there. The coffee selection was better than most coffee shops and they have great prices on everything, was surprised to find a meal of this quality for what I spent, got two cups of quality coffee and lunch for under $20!
