Childhood memories came rushing back. This is place is a local treasure. Their long Johns are one of a kind. I’m pretty sure there is some magic going on behind those walls. I recommend trying all the flavors. Peanut butter was amazing. I also recommend trying the apple raisin donut things. All are made to feel welcome in this establishment. The staff is very friendly. 10/10
We love this place! When you go in, you can't just buy one thing! They are famous for their Long John donuts, but they also have a big selection of other delicious desserts and treats. Definitely recommend checking this out if you're in the area - it's a cute little shop with reasonable prices and won't disappoint!
Always the highlight of our trip and our first stop in the area! Where do I start? Their long Johns are out of this world-my favorite is the peanut butter one! Their pecan sticky ring is also awesome and my mom's favorite. My husband loves the muffins! So many great options to choose from-what are you waiting for?
Achenbach has been a staple in our house since I can remember. The vanilla Long John's will always be my favorite donut until the day I die. No matter what part of the world or what part of the United States I have traveled to, I NEVER had a better donut than the one from Achenbach Bakery.
Don't forget about their cakes. Their pastries are the most phenomenal I have ever had, and I have never met who disagreed after they had one!
Keep up the great work!!. You literally have the best donuts in the world!
The staff seemed like they were still a sleep but was not rude. I was disappointed they didn't have any of their filled long johns, that's what I went there for. I never had any not filled, but I got some because that's what they had. They were ok, but they seemed like they may have been sitting for a while they were a little stiff. I also got a Whoopi pie it was pretty good. I plan to go back. Hopefully, when I do, they will have the filled long johns! Of course, I didn't leave without getting a Johnny Long John stuffed plush he's so cute!
While I only had a chance to buy and taster their donuts everything else looked good. I was very happy with the donuts that did buy. Also the people working there were friendly. Next visit to the area and I will try more of their baked goods.
Best pastries in Lancaster. The Long John’s and the Peanut Butter or Vanilla Raisin Iced Ring Bun’s are my favorites.
Lots of good and tasty different treats to choose from. You have cakes, cookies, pies, muffins, sticky buns, pastries and bread for your mouth to thank your taste bud. Yet all these treats and their best know for Achenbach's. You can make a stop here and yet you will find something for your taste bud to be pleased with. They have a small parking lot out front for you to park your vehicle and take your time making your choices of what to eat on the road and what to take home for dessert after dinner or maybe just a late night sweet treat.
Ordered a Long John cake for a birthday. Excellent pastries as always.
I get long John’s here twice a year for work, legendary pastries. Will always be back!
What can I say about this company? I’ve tried their pastries thanks to a very good friend of mine and they were amazing! Not only that they have never met me before but when my mother found out she had cancer they helped us out with bracelets to support her, the kindness they showed me made me feel loved by my friend’s job. Regardless of what they put on their building their food is amazing and the owners care about people. As soon as I can I will be ordering pastries as I can’t wait to have them again and I will forever support this company.
If you can’t accept someone supporting and loving others then you should move on, leaving negative reviews is just absolutely crazy just because you are still living in the early 1900s. It’s the 21st century.
You guys are the best ❤️ Keep being positive!
I absolutely devoured their cheese danishes! I visited all the way from northeastern Ohio and was glad I got the chance to stop in and try some sweets. I can't wait for my next visit, and more cheese danishes :) The way they decorated for pride month was also cute <3
Achenbach's made a beautiful cake to cut for my wedding reception. I gave a picture of what I wanted and I was not disappointed! It was a delicious cake. Also ordered of a variety of whoopie pies which were a huge hit. Highly recommend!
Best long john’s I’ve ever had. I don’t eat a lot of sugar so I’m picky about the few times I splurge and I’m never disappointed here. They also make King Cakes around MardiGras that just melt in your mouth. I’m a lifetime Lancaster County resident and this place IMO makes the best pastries. 🏳️🌈
Their long johns are the BEST around!! Also, the eclairs are a personal favorite. If you're in the area, make the time for a quick stop. You'll be glad you did!
Cute bakery. Pretty easy to find and the service was great. There were plenty of options and I got a whoopie pie and a danish. I never had a whoopie pie and didnt know what to exepect but it was fine. I love making chocolate chip cookies and this wasnt my favorite. I thought the filling would be more like a marshmallow but it was an icing which seemed overly sweet. The danish was really good! I warmed it up the nexy day to enjoy. The cheese was mixed in as opposed to set in the center like I usually see. Very moist and flavorful. Next time, I will try one of the famous long johns that everyone raves about.
I can’t believe I have lived in Lancaster my whole life and only learned about Achenbach’s when I started working in Leola. The Long Johns are AMAZING!!! We have also had great whoopie pies and my dad said their milk apple pie rates as one of his favorites!!!
