Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant. I don't normally leave reviews but I feel compelled to as the experience was absolutely wonderful. We ordered on-line and instead of just picking up our meal, we ended up staying for a few of Dave's mixed drink recommendations which did not disappoint. From the cocktails to the fried snapper, oxtails and the vegan rasta meal, it was FIRE!!! Considering the quality & quantity, the prices are reasonable. Great atmosphere and hospitality, highly recommend.

A day out with family and we decided to try Island Spice which was recommended by a family friend. A relaxing and charming restaurant with authentic flavorful and delicious Jamaican food. We started with beef pies and coco bread. Dave was very attentive, especially with my mother due to her dietary restrictions. Dave made her meal, curry scallops and shrimp, tailored to her specific requests and she thoroughly enjoyed her dinner. My son went with the Jamaican Jerk Pork and I had Jamaican Jerk Chicken. Delicious! The food was delectable with twists of perfectly blended spices. We enjoyed our time in the restaurant and....... I relaxed with a Jamaican mule. Yum! Moreover, we could carry on a conversation without having to shout (which is a nice change). However, someday I would like to go back and hear their live music. I'm sure that would be a blast! The excellent customer service and recommendations of Dave where appreciated. He really cared about our experience and satisfaction as it was our first time to Island Spice. We will definitely be back. Oh, did I mention it's on island time ;-)

Where do I begin? Before even walking in you’re greeted by the delightful smell of the smoker doing it’s daily task of getting your food ready to be plated and served. You walk in and see a perfectly lit restaurant with live music at times and a nice bar with all your staple favorites. Dave, the owner, has impeccable customer service skills and I would say that this is the main reason I come to this establishment but everything about this place is incredible and it would be a shame not to mention the rest of the magic at hand here. The food is stupendous and there isn’t an item on the menu that isn’t made to perfection. My favorite item on the menu has to be the red snapper or oxtail and I posted a picture of the oxtail for reference. If you’re just looking for a drink the man is a mixologist and knows exactly what to make for you so don’t stress about making decisions. I wish I could give Island Spices more than 5/5 stars because this place is past perfection.

No words to describe how amazing Island Spice Jamaican restaurant is! It is a hidden gem in the downtown area of Leavenworth. I came to visit my Uncle and he recommended this spot. It was packed when we arrived and unfortunately the owner was super short staffed--meaning he was the only waiter. So, we did have to wait for a little bit, but it was worth it as we were able to chat, catch up, and relax. When he took our order he informed us that there was not a lot of certain foods left and because of the time he would be unable to make certain dishes. However, again it was worth it as the brown stew, oxtails, and stewed cabbage that he brought us was so delicious! It brought me back to the times I have spent in Jamaica. This is literally some of the best Jamaican food I have tasted in the US period! So full of flavor, love, and yum! I had to get a box to stop me from eating. Also, despite being short staffed the owner was so kind and real, I really liked that! Also, we got to meet his beautiful wife that is the chef. Wow! They have something very unique and special going on in their restaurant. I will be back!

Fantastic meal! I had the oxtail and the jerk pork. All the flavors pair so well. You have to wash it down with some delicious Jamaican ginger beer. Such wonderful food, big portions, great service, lovely music, welcoming atmosphere, you will not be disappointed! Dave has done a great job! -Schuylar-

We happened to see the flags outside and decided to try it since we hadn’t had Jamaican food for a long time. My first response was that it’d be too spicy. We met David the owner, and he grinned and corrected me and said “flavorful”. I now use that word in my vocabulary! We got the pulled pork and the non-alcohol pink ting soda (at David’s recommendation). Boy, was that a refreshing drink after that AMAZING flavorful smoky meat. My husband and I looked at each other and said we hadn’t had this good of a meal since we were in Seattle and had found the best Cuban sandwiches. This is in no way Cuban food but the excellence of representing a country’s cuisine is 5 star and above. The restaurant is owned and managed by David and his wife. David is US military, and we literally thank him for his service! Sorry it took so long to write this. We were there about a month ago. I’d say load up your family and friends and take a road trip. We’re from KC. Thanks David!

Everything about this place was great! My coworkers recommended this restaurant and for good reason. This is now my new favorite Jamaican restaurant!! Curry goat, oxtails, jerk chicken and festivals were fantastic!! Might have been the best I've ever been served. And I'm from NYC so I know good Jamaican food!! Dave made our visit enjoyable despite being busy and the waitress was amazing.

Decided to stop by this Leavenworth restaurant out of curiosity. Met the owner on our first visit and found him (Dave) very curious about how some KC guys found his place. We explained we both enjoy Jamaican food and after enjoying a delicious meal we were sold. The food is incredible, the dine-in experience is awesome and Dave is the MAN! Highly encourage those to relax and patiently wait for the mouth-watering journey you will have at Island Spice Jamaican restaurant. It’s totally worth any wait as the food is made specifically for you. Jerk chicken = mind blowing: ox tails = glorious: curry chicken = brilliant. Wish I could say more and on a personal note, we appreciate your service to our country! 🇺🇸
