J. Gumbo's

Only reason I didn't give it 1star is because the food wasn't all bad. Ok, so definitely NOT what I was expecting from the pictures I saw online. First, we arrived at 1pm, they weren't even ready to attend customers. They didn't even have any cash in the register. They had not started up the fryer. There were several items on the menu that weren't available to be ordered. The place in itself was simply underwhelming. It is adjacent to a Tropical Smoothie(which you can walk into). The food was OK, nothing to write home about. We finally ordered 2 Rice and Beans. I ordered the Drunken Chicken and my husband ordered the Bourbon Chicken. While they were good in flavoring, something was still missing. Also when I went to ask for to-go plates, the assistant manager handed them to me and his nails were filthy! I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Honestly...the whole back area(kitchen) just looked dingy from afar. Oh, and on the Vegas Eater website they have this as their headline..."J. Gumbo's Has Arrived with Cajun Cookin' and Beignets". THERE ARE NO BEIGNETS AT ALL! Very much a lie and false advertisement. Needless to say...hubby and I will not be going back. We will continue to search for New Orleans style food in Vegas.

SO ADDICTED TO THIS PLACE! ♥ My mother and I stopped in there to have food for the first time while we got a smoothie next door, and BOTH places are the most cleanest and well organized places we've ever eaten in. The service was gloriously kind, and t he lace is under new management, and we were wonderfully helped by the gentleman named Kenny. =) Adorable decor, and most importantly??? OUTSTANDING AUTHENTIC FOOD!!!!!!! ♥♥♥ We ordered the Gumbo, and it was out of this world, and the best Hot Water Cornbread!!!! Everything was super fresh, and the portions are GREAT for what is paid. Will be back as a regular, 100%. Already craving more Gumbo, and its only been ONE day!!! LOL Thank you guys!!! ^_^

Husband and I love the other locations of J. Gumbo's that we've been to before, so when we saw that one had opened in the Vegas area we were super excited to go. Definitely not disappointed. Always delicious food and generous portions. Guy working there (didn't catch his name) was very pleasant and helpful. 50% discount for active duty military members as well! That was a really nice surprise. I know we'll be back soon.

First visit here. After reading some of the other comments I wasn't sure what to expect. The store is under new management so hopefully that will resolve some of the prior negative comments. The service was wonderful. Very knowledgeable staff and food was way above my expectations. Will be back soon...just have to wait for the burn to go away from my tongue and my nose to stop running...LOL...the spices were a little more than anticipated but I haven't had alot of exposure to Creole and Cajun southern cooking.

Quiet place i was surprised it wasn't busier. Even though it was slow that's not indicative of the food. I had the gumbo with chicken, shrimp, and sausage. Lots i mean lots of protein, huge chinks, they do not skimp. A combo comes with a drink and buttered bread for dipping. Will definitely be back.

My husband and I had an amazing experience from beginning to end. It was our first time at j. Gumbos And Chaine (the name on our receipt, I didn't catch his name) was extremely helpful! He guided us through the menu and recommended his favorites which both my husband and I went for. I got the chicken and shrimp gumbo which was delicious! It came with a piece of yummy buttered bread too! My husband got the shrimp po'boy which was also very good. The popcorn shrimp was nice and crispy with great flavor! As we were getting ready to go he asked us how our meal was and gave us a nice end greet. We loved it and will definitely go back!
