Review Island Flavor - Las Vegas

If I could leave this place 10 out of 5 stars, I would. They are THAT amazing! The food is incredible and the service is next-level! Their attention to detail is unmatched. Garlic fried rice. Masubi. Poke (omg, the poke!). Chicken katsu (get it with katsu sauce AND gravy). Chicken teriyaki noodle bowl. Ube cheesecake. You honestly can't go wrong with anything here. Vegas has SO MANY great eats, and we came back here twice during our short visit. We had to get our fix before leaving town. I will be back every time I'm in Vegas! Do your taste buds a favour and pay them a visit. Run! Don't walk. Seriously!

Excellent, friendly service as always. We always order too much food and the staff warns us, but we want to try everything every time we visit. My friends love the music. I dislike the misleading political ads in between.

Island Flavor is a Hawaiian restaurant that is a paradise for food enthusiasts. It offers an extraordinary dining experience that captivates all the senses. Located off the strip of Las Vegas, hidden on the northwest side, this establishment takes diners on a journey through the vibrant flavors of Hawaiian cuisine, elevating it to an art form. During my visit, I ordered the Mixed Plate, nothing short of a volcanic explosion of flavors that left me in a euphoric state. The Mixed Plate at Island Flavor is a true symphony of flavors, featuring two exceptional components: Teriyaki Marinated Chicken Thighs and Kalua Pig with Cabbage. It's a celebration of the diversity of Hawaiian cuisine, which combines a harmonious blend of ingredients that epitomize the island's rich culinary heritage. The Teriyaki Marinated Chicken Thighs were a revelation of taste and texture. Each bite of the succulent, tender chicken thighs was a testament to the chef's skill and expertise. The teriyaki marinade infused the meat with a sweet and savory flavor that was perfectly balanced. The char-grilled surface added a smoky note to the dish, and the result was nothing less than heavenly. The Kalua Pig and Cabbage was a fitting tribute to tradition. This classic Hawaiian dish is prepared with the utmost care, capturing the essence of island flavors. The Kalua Pig was slow-cooked to perfection, and the addition of cabbage provided a subtle crunch and a mild sweetness that complemented the pork perfectly. Now, let's talk about the monstrous Spam Musubi. This colossal creation is an authentic Hawaiian delight, where the salty and savory allure of Spam meets the comforting embrace of rice and a layer of nori seaweed. The spam musubi was generously sized, making it a hearty and satisfying side dish. Each bite was a fusion of textures and flavors, with the slight crispness of the nori contrasting with the tender, seasoned Spam and sticky rice. It was an actual umami bomb that delighted the palate. To add to the perfection of the meal, the server was exceptional, a paragon of sweetness. She went above and beyond to make my dining experience memorable. Her thoughtfulness was evident when she surprised me with a complimentary Rangoon chip, showcasing the warm hospitality and attention to detail that Island Flavor embodies. In conclusion, Island Flavor is a culinary haven that transports you to the enchanting shores of Hawaii, offering a gastronomic experience that is both sophisticated and soulful. The Mixed Plate, with its Teriyaki Marinated Chicken Thighs, Kalua Pig and Cabbage, and monstrous Spam Musubi, was a revelation of flavors and textures that celebrated the best of Hawaiian cuisine. It is a restaurant where tradition meets innovation, and the love of food meets the art of cooking. My dining experience was mind-blowing, and I wholeheartedly recommend Island Flavor to anyone seeking a journey to the heart of Hawaii through their taste buds.

The Gravy. It is so good it haunts me in my dreams. Everything about the menu is delicious. But the gravy is the star. If I could give 10 stars I would.

Really good plate lunch. The Kaluha pork and cabbage was excellent. Mac salad wasn’t super sweet which I loved. My dining partner got a mixed plate with the kalbi (delicious) and chicken katsu (not my favorite, but this was one of the best that I’ve tried). Friendly, fast service. Will be back.

It's been a while since we went to Island Flavor in Durango. Since the new ownership and expanded dining area before, the portions and quality went downhill but pleasantly surprised that the portions got bigger again and the flavor got better. Their furikake chicken is a must try and the roast pork-not a lot of places serve this dish. The saimin is loaded. Rae gave great service ‐------------ 6/11/2019 I ordered chicken teriyaki to go and they gave me chicken katsu!i ordered 5 plates and one of them wrong! I called and the supervisor said that she will call me back. Never got my number and hung up! So different frm the old management/owners

One of my favorite stops when in Vegas! The 3 meat combo is delicious, and I always love the kaluha pork and cabbage.

I haven't been here in more than 5 years after moving out of state. I'm glad to say that the food is as good as ever. The chicken katsu was crispy and hot and the fries were fresh out of the frier. Be warned though the portions here are large!

The kalbi rice is the best thing on the menu. The furikake chicken has a yummy flavor and is crispy. My only issue was with the poke bowl - it just wasn't good. I'm not sure if it was because the rice warmed it too much or because of the minced texture which I wasn't expecting. It just wasn't my thing, but I would go back for the other dishes!

First time trying Hawaiian BBQ from out of town, and was impressed with the quality of this place. Service was decent considering how busy it was, and it didn't take long to get our food. Portion was so good I didn't need to eat again for 24 hours. Would visit again!

We made the trip out from the strip based on the reviews, and really glad we did! We had the pork & cabbage, teriyaki chicken and furikake chicken, all were super tasty, and the guava cake was good too (and I don't like guava) Our host whose name I've forgotten - sorry - was so lovely too. Overall really nice, must try if you can!

So amazing! There is so much food for the price. Rae was super sweet and very helpful to us first-timers. We will definitely visit again!

Overall location is nice and the food was decent. Had the bento box and it had a lot to enjoy. The music that was being played on the tv was random things from YouTube and made it more of a eat and leave rather than a sit and stay a while vibe.

Found this place thanks to Fluffy and so glad we made the trip from the Strip. Totally worth it! Food was delicious and service was excellent. We had the furikake chicken with fried rice and the guava cake. All great! Big portions.

Island Flavor located on Durango and Windmill is your typical neighborhood Hawaiian eatery. The restaurant was clean, spacious, and decorated Hawaiian-style! The menu included your island dishes. On this visit, I tried the short rib fried rice, which was absolutely delicious. It was a huge plate of rice that could probably feed a family of 4. I literally ate from this rice for 3 days in a row. My friend had the combination plate with the Furikake fired chicken and teriyaki steak. Like most Hawaiian places, the mixed plate came with white rice, macaroni salad, and cabbage salad. It looked quite delicious. I can't wait to visit again.

Great first experience here! Will definitely be back for the food and positive attitudes of all staff we encountered. Restaurant was very clean and maintained as well which is much appreciated (especially during this time) We were first greeted by Meagan, and then Kehau took over. Looking forward to seeing them again soon!
