Review Citizens Kitchen & Bar - Las Vegas

Cheyanne Gentry
Everything in Las Vegas is crazy expensive and this place was no exception, However, the portions were quite generous as well as delicious!!!!! This chef understands how over-medium well eggs are cooked! The bacon was thick & crispy!! And the pancakes were fabulous!!! Our server was very kind, and helpful with our little ones which made for a relaxing experience! Highly recommend Citizens for a family friendly meal!

Really liked it. The service and drinks were great. The tofu bowl was good and likes the fries. The ambiance was pretty good, a little loud but to be expected. Prices were high. Do recommend.

I visited the restaurant several times, for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was good, but dinner wasn't. I had the grilled salmon and it had absolutely no seasoning. For $28, it should've tasted better. Overall, the service was good, so I would return, but I'd choose something else on the menu.

Citizens Kitchen is an open, airy modern establishment. It is part Starbucks with its coffee bar and pastries. An easy place to get take out to eat in your room. But, it is also an inviting sit-down restaurant in which to enjoy not only the great food. But friends and family as well. Fear not the menu selections are cooked and serve promptly and to your specifications. Portions are large and can be shared. The place is acoustically bright (noisy). But, that only adds to the overall experience. Price point at market for Las Vegas. $$ and half.

The best bacon around in my opinion. Didn’t have to ask for it to be cooked properly (crispy) it just came out that way. Large plates for the price and the drinks were strong, just what we needed to start the day.

Bartender was attentive and on top of his tasks. Dinner seating is at 5PM, which is not listed on the website or menu. Overall, decent food. Our fried chicken sandwich was very nice, but a little overdone. The parmesean and truffle fries were average. The service was fantastic.

We decided to try this after visiting the Shark Reef and it was a good decision. Service was really good and the food tasted good too. The menu had quite a few good selections for adult beverages, and the overall menu was a typical American menu. The Nashville chicken was a little too seasoned though, and felt like I was eating more dry rub then chicken sandwich resulting in the loss of a star on this review.

One of my favourites at Mandalay Bay! Easy to get in (on most days), fast and good value. I have a tried a few items over the years and nothing disappoints. The service is good and the vibe is fast and energetic. Recommendation: Try the nachos!

Amazing breakfast and service ! We had large portions and service was fast and super friendly! Really enjoyed every choice for breakfast and that’s why we went for 3 days in a row.

Waiter was MIA most of the time but friendly. Medium burger was cooked very well. Would have sent it back but like I said the waiter was nowhere to be found after the food runners brought it out. Still had good flavor.

If you want a super short wait then go to the bar. Once we sat down we noticed that the bar and the restaurant were nice and clean. Our bartender was very nice. We ordered the food and it took a while to come but everyone was so nice and continued to fill our glasses with coffee so, we didn't mind. I ordered the chicken fried steak it was delicious. My wife ordered an omelet and it was absolutely divine! The food was expensive. But, you tend to expect these things in a hotel. But place to eat at Mandalay Bay, hands down

Stopped here for breakfast the day we got in, food is okay. Most of my bacon was over cooked and so were the eggs. The waiter was what made this place, I wish I would of remembered his name. Great customer service from him.

We went here for a business lunch with 6 of us. Everyone seemed pleased with their order. Our food came out quick and our waitress was very friendly. She kept our drinks coming and was attentive. I personally had the teriyaki bowl with chicken and thought it was really good. My only complaint was I wish there was a little bit more chicken in it... the piece of chicken they gave me was pretty small. Other than that it was really good. I would definitely come here again.

Good place for lunch. Food is good but service was very slow and not great. Not much lobster on the shrimp and lobster roll.

I came here for breakfast one day and I was promptly served upon entering. The service was great, as was the food. I had a latte, which was made well as well as a fresh fruit and yogurt parfait. While it was delicious, it was very little for a large price. However, I’d certainly try the pancakes if I come back.

Visited this place during one of my trips to the IAFE in Vegas. I recommend ordering the Fish & Chips if you make a trip to this place. Bring your appetite because this is a very healthy serving of food. I actually ate here on a night before attending the American Country Awards. Definitely visit this place if you happen to stroll through Mandalay Bay while in Vegas.

This restaurant is inside Mandalay Bay Resort. It's opened for 24 hrs. It got nice options for food but fish & chips are best here. Other chicken options are also good.

AWFUL!
The decor in this place is very nice, loved that and it's sign was pretty (ha, I know!)
The service though, one of the WORST I've ever experienced.
The food was OK but I can barely remember it due to the appalling experience of the service!

Firstly they tipped up our coffees with tea from their pot after us asking about 3 times for refills, which was then done with an eye roll from our rude server. We the told her about it and she proceeded to basically call us liars and that they don't fill their pots with tea.
I'm English, trust me, I know the difference between tea and coffee. I realize mistakes happen but to ignore them, roll your eyes and then deny them and not apologize is NOT cool.

The whole meal from then on was a disaster and the server was one of the most awful people to ever be in customer service of any kind. We eventually tried to get the managers attention but apparently she was dealing with a similar complaint with another table. We could see other tables getting annoyed and also waiting for attention from someone because the service was just THAT bad.

Go anywhere else but here.

A place to mop up your drunken-ness at the end of the night. Open 24 hours, it has all the right ingredients for that type of place: grease and alcohol. The foods actually pretty good. Well executed and nice service. The drinks were weak.

Had a Frisco melt and it tasted amazing! Thousand island dressing, two patties and sourdough bread (I think). It was delicious.
We came here at about 9pm and it wasn't packed at all but the service was horrible. We got out food and finished it before anyone even came back to check on us. Wasn't happy about that, but will give them another shot because the food was so good.

At Citizens, I received one of the worst services ever. Food was great but the person who helped me and my girlfriends was so rude. She helped us two days in a row. 1st day, I figured she was having a bad day. But then the 2nd day she dared to call me the C*** Word and my friends the B**** word. When I confronted her she said she did not mean it in a rude way. How can you not mean it in a rude way!? I know my friends can get a little rowdy but that's no excuse to treat me that way. We were there yesterday. It was my last day in Las Vegas for my bridal shower, and it was awful. She couldn't even answer my questions about the menu. Couldn't even fully enjoy my food. I am not one to write reviews, but this is something that had to be shared. She didn't even give me her name when I asked her. I had to ask one of the other girls. Her name was JESSICA, I couldn't wait for a manager since we had to catch a flight back to new York that morning. But this needs to be heard and I hope the restaurant does something about it. I will not be disrespected like that with no consequence.
The food is woefully under seasoned. The coffe reminds of a cheap dinner. The quality certainty doesn't match the price.

The service was polite and fast and attentive.

This place was amazing, friendly bartenders, amazing Bloody Mary's and good food

Solid place to grab a bite at Mandalay Bay. There is nothing fancy about the menu, or the restaurant, but, it's a nice little spot if you're in the Mandalay Bay and in need of a good meal. We ate there twice, once for breakfast, once for lunch, and were satisfied both times.

I had the Turkey Club for lunch, it was huge, with a side of fries. Ingredients were fresh, bread had a nice crunch. Fries were solid, not mind blowing, but, I wasn't expecting them to be.

For breakfast I had their "famous" Bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. It says it comes on a NY Style Kaiser roll, it was just a kaiser-like hamburger bun. Other than that, the sandwich was great. Eggs were cooked perfectly, bacon was crispy and the home fries were actually my favorite part of the dish.

They also have a deli counter stocked with fresh made sandwiches, donuts, and other desserts for you to grab and go if you're in a hurry.

Prices are on par for what you should expect in a Casino restaurant (not cheap), but, the portions were large and our party of 4 left satisfied with both our meals there. Service was excellent both times, our servers were very attentive and friendly.

We are here twice. For dinner we had GREAT service. Our meal was very delicious. I had a lobster roll that was unforgettable! Also for breakfast we were so thankful to find somewhere at Mandalay Bay that juiced. Thank you! Yum!

Beware. Had a great meal. Food was very good. Went with another couple and we split the bill. We noticed the wrong amount upon getting the split bill. We asked our server, Tony, why and he said he ROUNDED the bill up so it would be even. Imagine if this happens to everyone how much extra money is there at the end of the day!

Dinner was free. I knew the manager at the time so dinner was free. Upscale cafe food good for what it was. Cafe food.

Two meals at our table were undercooked (shrimp and chicken...). Not only was the manager unapologetic, he also acted like we were the problem.

Opens Late. If you find yourself hungry and Citizens is the only restaurant opens after midnight in Mandalay Bay, it is not a bad place. We missed our dinner reservation at elsewhere because the show ran longer than expected, we ended up at Citizens.
Two of us shared a Turkey Burger and a Lobster Roll, in fact, they're pretty good for what they were. Service was spotty but still attentive.

Will NOT go there again !. Met someone for breakfast at Citizens at Mandalay Bay on Monday for Breakfast. Was not busy at 8AM. It is small and cramped, with small tables. We were seated fast and I ask what happened to "RED WHITE AND BLUE" restaurant? and she just shrugged. Waiter took our order and food came out fairly fast. The table was so small we had to put the bread on our Huge round plates and put the bread plates on a chair, along with other table items, so we could use our coffe cups. Food was barely warm, and looked really dumb in the middle of this huge round plate. My bill for one eggs benedict and coffee was way over priced even for vegas. $20.00 +. The service was really bad, we had to flag down someone for refill, When we were done the dirty plates just stayed on the table, even after he finally brought the bill. There was no room to sign the bill with all the plates! He never came back to get the bill, so I raised it over my head and the manager took it out of my hand, and I thought someone was stealing my credit card, as I pulled it back I ask if he worked there and he said he was the manager, so I asked him to clear the table and take care of the bill and he did. I told him of the problems, and so did three other tables while we were there. I don't think is was because we are older, but they just have VERY BAD SERVICE !!!

Horrible service and "ok" food. My daughters and I ate at Citizen Kitchen and Bar after leaving the Shark Reef. There was not wait; we were seated immediately, which means the restaurant was not packed. After receiving our dinner, we saw our waiter twice and that was after I had to hunt him down and almost scream across the restaurant to get a refill. He brought the refill when he brought the bill... after we were finished eating. Then, I had to hunt him down again to get to-go boxes. Horrible service!! But, it could be because we were Black; I saw our waiter checking with the other tables more frequently and the patrons at the other tables happened to be White. So, if you're a minority... get your food to go or plan on having to chase down your waiter for below average service :-)

Husband and I went here one night. Just passing by and took a chance. The best steak we've both had in awhile. His came with an amazing horseradish dip that I stole plenty of. They don't overdo the sides like some restaurants. The cheesecake was melt in your mouth amazing. Would go again next visit to Vegas.

Average food (by Vegas standards). Had the Chicken Cobb and the ranch had the consistency of mayo which was strange.

I couldn't tell which was worse, the food or the service. My friends and I had a birthday party here and everything was cold or wrong. One person didn't even get a bottom bun on his sandwich. Avoid this place like the plague.

Perfectly fine with French food and well experienced with ‘modernist’ cuisine, both at local spots as well as internationally revered recipients of three Michelin Stars, but born in the Midwest and raised on anything but foie gras or liquid nitrogen cocktails suffice it to say that I’m a fan of the whole “upscale American” movement – the sort of food that takes the shake n’ bake that mother used to make and turns it into something worth leaving the house for, the sort of food that critics love to critique even though they likely cannot make it as well themselves…the sort of food being served at Citizens Kitchen and Bar in Mandalay Bay.

I feel like I’ve probably experienced most of the decent burgers in town at this point and am starting to fish for restaurants that serve an ok burger. Such is the case with Citizens Kitchen & Bar that recently opened in Mandalay Bay. No one has suggested I try their burger, but it’s a venue that pushes their comfort food, and what speaks more to that than a burger? Plus, with the rapidly declining quality of Burger Bar, Mandalay is in desperate need of a good burger. So could this be it?

Citizens is split into a fast service/to-go area and an actual restaurant. They are also open 24 hours a day. We were looking for a quick place to have breakfast before heading to the airport on our flight home, so we decided to check it out here. I ordered their eggs benedict which is served with hashbrown salsa and toast. My eggs benny were pretty good and they were fairly huge. But what really surprised me about this meal was the hashbrowns – made with cilantro, green and red pepper – it really gave the dish a southwestern feel. I was so full off the eggs and hash that I didn’t even touch the toast!

Citizens is another solid spot by the Light Group. It’s an upscale diner serving comfort food 24 hours a day in Mandalay Bay. Brunch might be the best time to go if you want to pig out on plenty of sweet and savory offerings like I did. The massive stack of red velvet pancakes may be one of the better versions in town. Just bring family or friends to make a dent in it.
