Review Chestnut Hill Cafe - Lancaster

A nice little cafe in downtown Lancaster. They serve Passenger coffee, which is some of the best in the area. The menu is fairly small but the food is a must try. The ingredients are fresh and tasty. The only knock I have is that they have some items on their menu that are unavailable.

Their food is incredible and the space is so cute, but have had a few issues with getting the correct order. For example, we ordered three things and every single one of them was wrong and also labeled incorrectly. Delicious, but not what we ordered. Will definitely go back still!

So good. Very cool vibe. Had the Lucky Lox on an everything bagel. The large Mocha was just as delicious.

Stopped in to refuel during a bike ride. Iced coffee and breakfast burrito were both delicious! Will definitely be back.

Great place to go for some food and drink. It's a little bit off the beaten path and thus a little quieter. I would say their prices are great but it is delicious.

My husband and I had a great experience here today! Our breakfast sandwich and bagel were both flawless, quality, and perfectly made!! We loved it. The staff were so nice and clearly working hard. We will be back often!

This place is a staple for my lancaster visits. The staff is really friendly and helpful, and the food / drinks are also great. Thanks to Kelly, Jade, and Skyler specifically for giving me a great experience. The atmosphere is very relaxing with soft music, a piano, a small library, and plenty of seating. If you’re ever in the West end of Lancaster, I’d recommend coming in for a cup of joe and a chocolate croissant!

They're using Square One Coffee's superior coffee, so no surprise I had a delicious and well-executed cortado and macchiatto on my visit here. Definitely well worth the stop.

Everyone here is super friendly. I've gotten bagels here twice, and both times I wish they were a bit more toasted (they were closer to being heated up than anything else). Also the prices are super odd (ie. $4.24, $3.19, etc) but I dunno if I'm just missing something there. That's also not a negative, as they're entirely reasonable, just odd choices.

Great neighborhood place to grab some excellent coffee. The food options are also great (bagels amazing). Service can sometimes be a little slow due to the set up, but they are always friendly and it's well worth the wait!

anytime im dogsitting on chestnut street i make it a point to come & get my everything bagel bacon egg and cheese at least once! the amaretto latte is my go to, & staff always treats me kindly & never fails to be consistent. the owner is always around doing what he can & makes this feel like home. I normally dont write on these but I have to say this place was bad. The server was ill prepared to handle the few people that were there. We asked for the house blend which they were out of and offered something else instead. Isnt that like McDonalds being out of fries? Lol. I asked for a large iced tea and had to go to the counter twice before having a small ice tea deliver that was filled to the top with ice so I had 2 swigs before it was gone. All in all this place was bad given that there are a ton of coffee places around they need to hire mature staff who know how to prepare coffee and tea in an expeditious manner and at least have the appearance of caring. Sorry to say but this place clearly needs adult supervision onsite to handle customers requests. The staff were clearly confused, slow on the draw, and not very helpful. Maybe to the folks who visit on a daily basis are ok with this sort of sub par service and food but if Im paying good money I expect good food and good service.

I am at Chestnut Hill at least 3/4 days a week and keep coming back primarily because of the staff. I’ll admit that I never get too adventurous with my coffee, but I have found the food to be consistently good and they are willing to go off menu upon request. Sit alone at a table or join in the conversation at the bar, either way you will feel right at home!

I love the atmosphere of this little cafe. The tea and bagels were great. Staff was friendly. I REALLY appreciate the vegan cream cheese and I think you'd get a loyal stream of customers with a few more vegan options on the menu. ;) An easy way to make your cafe welcoming to city parents would be a high chair and changing table in restroom. ✌️

I used to live in Lancaster 2 years ago and loved Chestnut Hill and would go there often. I'm in town visiting , my wife and I wanted to have lunch for old times sake. A big disappointment 1- They brought our sandwiches 10 minutes apart . So much for having lunch togather . 2- My sandwich had no flavor and my stomach has been upset since I ate it. 3- They had no soup. What good is a soup and sandwich place if they have no soup. My recommendation is don't go there with high expectations.

I love the atmosphere of this joint. The mocha I got was oh my goodness gracious brand of yummy. The chicken ceasar wrap ...no flavor..and seemed like it was microwaved but, I still didn't care obviously because I hung out working away on my computer which I could plug in...and free weefee. Today, I may check out breakfast there and then get some of that delicious looking ice cream!

For the 5th time I was let down by this place. I have no big order. Just an None toasted bagel and lox with extra salmon. After waiting an hour for a fixed order I left with nothing. We used to like this place and I rarely wright reviews however this pushed me to let you all know. �

Awful worst place. Girl was drugged out and never even brought us what we ordered had to beg for bagel and coffee we already paid for and then not even an apology. Don’t go here it’s run by drug addicts!!!!

The food and drink - both sweet and savory - is delicious. The wait staff and customers are always friendly and the entertainment is awesome!

A very relaxing place , especially when enjoying a coffee or the tomato bisque soup on their outdoor patio

After over a year and a half of driving by this cafe and wanting to check it out my husband and I finally stopped in. It was completely dead when we got there. Ordered our drinks, paid and sat down. 10 minutes went by with no coffee. Two other people walked in ordered got their coffee in under 3 minutes. We waited another 5-7 minutes went by until we finally got our coffee. Mind you there were two people working, no reason we should be waiting this long. Now it wasn't what we ordered or paid for but after nearly 20 minutes of waiting I said okay it's fine lets just go. We left although I ordered an iced coffee I was not happy when the hot coffee I got instead was barley room temperature. I'm also shocked that for 2 small hot coffees the price came out to over $8. Seems pretty steep for a room temperature small coffee that tasted like it had been sitting out since that morning. We threw the coffee into the garbage and went to another coffee place. Never again.

Staff is disrespectful and made the whole visit my last.

I normally have a really lovely time here, which is why I don't really want to leave a single star, but this afternoon, I was waiting at the front completely unacknowledged for 15 minutes. Seriously, nothing, like not even a hello or just a second or do you have any questions. When the man was finally done ignoring us and doing what he was doing, he came to take my order only to tell me that the soup (which is on the chalkboard and not crossed out or anything) wasn't available, and then when I went to switch my order a scone, I was incorrectly told the flavors, switched to a different scone, only to find out it was completely flavorless and dryer than a scone should be. When I went to the front, a woman told me scones were supposed to be dry...I've had plenty of scones in my lifetime and none of them have been this inedible...and what did you expect, that I was just going to sit back down and still eat it?? I felt I was treated with completely terrible customer service. The only redeeming moment was when the manager came to the front to work with me and was able to find a quick solution with kind demeanor, as I'm normally used to experiencing here. The young man behind the counter honestly made me consider leaving and going somewhere with more dependable customer service and friendlier people, like Mean Cup, for instance. I'm considering not coming back here for a while which is disappointing for me but had I just been treated with an ounce of quality customer service it would have been an entirely different situation. Do better, Chestnut.
