Overall the food was Okay. Shrimp and grits were not bad. They only put three shrimp in my grits. Mac and cheese was dry and bland. The candie yams were the best part in my opinion. Based off my experience I think this place is just okay. Not bad if you want something fast and different.

Large pieces of fish which did not taste like catfish. Grits were ok, but cold. Greens were salty. Maybe if you order your food earlier in the day, the food would be better.

After telling my significant other about The Southern Cafe for years, we finally made it (not from greater CLE area). I'm happy to say that it exceeded expectations. Staff was awesome, food was exceptional. They have a clean restaurant (and bathroom). 10/10 would highly recommend.
