Everything was simply delicious! We are excited to go back and try more of the menu.
The menu can be a little bit confusing especially if there is a lot you are not familiar with - we were going to order online but decided to go in to be able to speak with staff which made it much more clear. I did not know that cow towel was the word for tripe - but we ordered it and it was yummy with the melon/spinach soup - also good to distinguish that “soup” means the sauce/gravy they put with the dish and not a separate soup like with other cuisines.
Overall, I highly recommend this for the very tasty food and oxtail is always a great choice!
So we stopped here because I wanted to take my coworker out to dinner for his birthday, I have always drove past this place and have never eaten here. Well I am so glad we stopped and ate, first off the smell of the food when you walk in is amazing, the friendliness of the owners was hands down the best service. We sat down and the place is decorated with African design, very comfortable and welcoming. We ordered 2 beers from Ghana called Star, great beer if you want a beer brewed and bottled in Africa. The menu has so many authentic African food choices, so we did fried plantains with tomato soup appetizer, I ordered the Fufu with spicy light soup (extremely spicy, definitely had habanero in it because of the smoky spicy taste) and my coworker had the Canola stew with cabbage and oxtail, both dishes were amazing, they brought out a banana bread with chocolate sauce for desert. We definitely can’t wait to eat here again and highly recommend this place, if you like trying foods from other countries then this is a must try, the service is excellent and the food is incredible….
Finally checked out African Grill and Bar. The stews are on point. It reminds you that soul food has its roots from food like this. Family owned and operated. It seems everyone has a role at the restaurant and takes great pride in delivering a great culinary adventure. We will be back to try gizzards and cabbage stew. They had run out by 6:30pm. Yum!
This is some of the most flavorful and interesting food I’ve had in Denver! The curries and stews were all incredibly delicious. The oxtails (in the spicy jerk curry) were cooked well. Regarding the spicy items, “When we say spicy, we mean spicy!” (said the owner) because they’re certainly not messing around when it comes to habaneros. If you order hot at a Thai or Indian restaurant, though, you will be extremely happy. I can’t wait to come back!
This place is fantastic, the people who own it are so wonderful and funny. My sister took me for my birthday on Monday and I've been missing african food and let me tell you their food is outstanding! If you like spice their food won't disappoint 😋 ❤❤ if you want delicous african food you HAVE to come here their food is worth every penny! If I lived closer I would definitely order out more!!
Great place for African/Ghanian food. Very neat place and staf, very nice and courteous. Highly recommend. Got my favorite Ghanian dish - fufu and goat spicy light soup from there...at the end of my 5 day conference on Denver.
This was my first taste of African cuisine and let me tell ya it was AMAZING. I have been wanting to come to this restaurant for a while and ended up going today with a friend. The flavors blew my mind! It was just so delicious. Theodora and Sylvester (the owners) were so friendly and helpful and just the sweetest. So not only was the food just so delicious but the owners were so friendly. I will be coming again to try more of their food! I highly recommend checking it out.
