Excellent service and very nice area for a very very large variety of sushi! Definitely would recommend!
Sushi Kushi is our only "go to" sushi place. We love the sushi but also the other Japanese foods as well. The Avocado salad is the absolute perfect marriage of flavors and I can never go there and NOT get the avocado salad. Always great authentic Japanese food and great service and ambience as well!
Always my go to place for sushi! This place is number 1 in my book!
This is the best of the best when it comes to JAP good quality food. A mandatory stop when on the north shore of Chicago !!
Best food + good staff = great place! It is always nice to go back here!
Good food and service, I would go back, not crazy about soup we had but salad was good. Sushi was awesome!
My wife's brother was in from Quincy Illinois and we totally enjoyed our dining experience. Nice soundings, good food and fine service.
Excellent food & fast service
I like the brittle tuna presentation much better at the Vernon Hills location though
I love the bento box lunch. Great variety of tastes. Great options. Salmon, steak or chicken. Can't get enough. The Volcano, the Highland Park, etc. etc.
Service was great and the food was excellent. A+++
My husband and I were introduced to sushi by our children when they were at the University of Wisconsin , over 20 years ago. They have sampled Japanese delicacies from Chicago's finest restaurants and all over the world. But their favorite will remain & always be Sushi Kushi in Lake Forest!
I love this restaurant! Try the submarine roll, it's my favorite and I get it everytime I go!
Food was excellent. I had the Ramen with miso base. The broth was delicious & noodles firm. Service was a little slow as I received my Ramen before the rest of our party & I had to ask for tea a few times before I was finally brought a pot. Server was swamped & apologized for the delay. Cute place with delicious food. Great place for a relaxed no rush meal
Visiting DC area for business and found this place with co workers. Amazing food! Their lava sushi was the bomb. Great customer service and oh their noodle was INCREDIBLE.
Decided to check this place out since it was recommended by (I guess) an influencer group that my family was checking out. If you're coming in from Waukegan Rd the entrance opens up from the South by the Fannie May.
Walking in feels like being whisked off into a different world by its dim lighting and covered glass followed by a menu without any pictures. If this is your first time eating sushi you won't know what you want, but a combination plate will give you a pretty good representation.
I had the hamachidon, which was 10 pieces of Yellowtail, a tender, light pink slab in a bowl of white rice with ginger and some spicy wasabi with a bowl of salad. Before you look for the pricing on that, I have regrets. It was delicious, but I'm still hungry. The taste of the sushi rice rivals Blufish's Chirashi Don, but I know which restaurant to head to for my fill at similar prices.
Service was quick. We arrived an hour before rush hour for dinner. There's barely any walking space by the entrance, so don't get stuck waiting to enter.
Their free WiFi is inexplicably fast. It doesn't seem necessary but I bet the place could be converted into a video game cafe.
Food was delicious and they had so many choices. Our server was nice. Some of our food didn't even come out until the rest of us were almost done but we went during lunch so maybe they didn't have the staff that day. Would live to go again soon.
This restaurant has been around long time. One of our friends and family’s favorite sushi restaurant. The interior has been expanded 2-3 times, so there’s plenty of seating indoors, which were full one Saturday night we were there. The sushi and kitchen food are all consistently delicious every time we have them. There’s so many favorites from spicy kinoko, buta kimchi, ika butter, karage from hot appetizers, and the carpaccio is a must have! Their sushi and sashimi are always fresh. What makes this place special is that most of the sushi bar and kitchen employees have been here since basically the beginning, and thats why you can tell that the food is always original. Annie, the front person, is always friendly and makes this place feels like eating in your relative’s home.
The Japanese curry with pork katsu and rice is the best!! Seen the dish in anime and always wanted to try it and boy this place doesn't disappoint. Mango icecream (sherbert) was great as well. The lunch pricing is fair and the waiter we had was great. A must try and favorite of mine and I don't live in IL.
We had a very good first experience at Sushi Kushi Toyo! We have made an effort to try as many restaurants that serve Japanese Curry as possible, and this one did not disappoint!
The curry sauce was savory with a touch of spice. The chicken katsu was fried perfectly, crisp on the outside and juicy chicken on the inside. I will say that I missed the typical addition of fukujinzuke (pickled vegetables) with the curry and next time I would ask for a side of potato salad or shredded cabbage to balance the meal.
We also ordered sushi - Double Dragon and Nagoya. Both were fantastic and we would definitely order those rolls again.
We're already looking forward to our next visit!
The sushi was fresh and amazing! Will definitely come back. The waitress was super nice and helped us when we didn’t know what to order. She showed us the picture menu. She even told us that the sushi bar was getting busy so if we want to order we should order it now so we can get it quicker.
Good taste! Manager is Japanese.
Food ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We went in for there lunch special. I really wanted katsu and I got the pork katsu. It was crunchy but not dry. The katsu sauce went well with it. The salad and the dressing were an appropriate accompaniment. It was so good I even stole two pieces of katsu from my friend!
Loved it..... I'm a huge sushi fan. The uni and aji were as good as you can get. Salmon nigiri was also great,. It's the best sushi I have found in Chicago. Will be here again tomorrow. So appending back today and ate in vs take out. The gyosa are also super, tempura great, oysters too. I'd live in this place if I was local I'd live here
Like other Sushi Kushi around here, food was great and service was excellent. We ordered the chicken, egg, onion over rice and pork chop, egg, onion over rice and it was amazing. Just an FYI, they don’t serve ramen like the other Sushi Kushi
Very good place to get Japanese food. Ordered the tempura udon with a side of California rolls. Docked a star because the sweet potato tempura was hard and not cooked through, but everything else was good.
In our top 2 for sushi and 1st place for their ramen in lake county ☺️ So yummy! Love their spicy mayo too.
When I sat at the table in one of the three dining areas I noticed that many families were dining, some with very little kids, some with teenage students, grandparents as well as guests whom you expect in any restaurats and sharing big sushi or noodle dish. Fod was good but had to wait a bit longer.
We were there around 7 pm, and it was a waiting line. There is no wait list, and the hostess took a couple who arrived after us before us. When I pointed out that she apologized, but the mood was set. The waitress was very nice and helpful. We tried a few sushi rolls, and per my taste, the rice was a little bit dry. The mist soup was good, but the tofu was cold. It took a few minutes to warm up. Butter mussels were very good - recommended.
We'll try the place again, maybe for lunch.
This is a very nice restaurant, very clean and harmonious, we had a very pleasant afternoon, the staff patiently told us how to make tea, they were friendly, I will introduce it to my other friends, come and enjoy it.
