Review Tasterite Jamaican Restaurant - Lake Charles

I visit here Aug. 2018 And it was my First Time Here, The lady at the register was not nice to me, I can feel she does not like me and she do not even know me wow. Maybe i look like someone she know, I don't know, But this was my first time there, And the food was terrible The Rice Taste like i stop by someones house and got left overs that was siting there for 5 days then warm up in microwave and charged me $18.50 plus tax i brought 2 plates and charged $37. Now the Meat in the plate was okay, But the rice and the old salad they slap together in that plate was nasty, And old tasting, I don't mind paying high for good quality, Not bad food..... # I'M NOT GOING BACK

This is a piece of paradise. It's really like you walked into a restaurant in Jamaica. The atmosphere is great. The music is great. Not too loud and very relaxing. The service is excellent and the food... The food is actually one of the best I've had. It is very authentic very spicy and has a wide selection. There is seating, not table cloth service. Very casual. There is a bar where cocktails are served. Excellent!!!

I loved this place first time eating there was greeted right away when entering.restraunt was clean and had a tropical vibe too it it was just inviting and comfortable. You order at the counter and then they bring food out to your table.we ordered the jerk chicken and the curry chicken and added plantains as well.we both ordered the small plate but their was nothing small about it it came with the meat which both was super delicious and rice and peas ,and a shredded salad all was super tasty and that's the main point flavor flavor flavor!! And the amount of food was large I only ate half and was full.all in all great place I'll definitely will be going back.

The food was awesome great flavors. The Curry Chicken was very good The Fried chicken was really good not greasy at all like I expected. This dish Deftly exceeded my expectations. The OX tail was so so good. Great place

Friendly! Great food! Bob Marley playing in the background. Trying to make up my mind, I was offered a sample of each of the days meals. I opted for the jerk pork, a small serving, and it was way more than I could eat. They even carry the same "sodas" they drink on the island. Highly recommend.

Ah yes, Man. I've never met a Jamaican meal I didn't like. The meal is more about celebrating with your companions than the uniqueness of the food. Their chicken smothered in a brown gravy was delicious and unburdened of flavors too thick. My son's curried pork looked delicious too (he didn't share with the Ol'Cat). Listening to the other patrons bantering in their native island tongue made the whole meal a real treat.
