It’s a neat little breakfast place that sells baked goods, breakfast items plus salads and sandwiches.
This was our first time visiting it for breakfast over the weekend. I got avocado toast and my husband got the breakfast egg sandwich. Both the items were okay, nothing special. In fact, my husband thought he gets better breakfast sandwich at Panera Bread.
We also tried their chocolate cream puffs and they are to die for!!!! Definitely give it a try if you are a chocolate lover like me. They weren’t overly sweet, just perfect!
They only have outdoor sitting so keep that in mind and dress appropriately per the season/weather.
While not the best view restaurant, this is probably one of the best bakeries in Southern California. All the breads and pastries are made in-house.
The breads and pastries are made to perfection. Not too sweet, not over or under cooked. Perfect. The croissants, for example, are wonderfully crispy on the outside, and soft and buttery on the inside with velvety layers.
While other bakeries hide their pastries by overloading them with sugar, this bakery uses the perfect amount of ingredients to perfectly bring out the taste. With Scratch’s blueberry scone, for example, they manage to highlight the wonderful taste of the blueberry, with the earthy taste of the scone. Delicious!
It’s rare to find a bakery like this. I do not give out such reviews often.
This bakery is worth coming to. This bakery is even worth driving a good distance to come to.
Be prepared to come often and buy a lot of delicious breads and pastries to bring home and share!
I called Scratch Bakery when I needed a few dozen cookies same day. I waited til the last minute to call local bakeries, and of course most of them could not fulfill that order with basically no notice. Scratch Bakery was the exception. I'm not saying wait til the last minute to order cookies from them but what I am saying is that their customer service was second to none. I called and spoke with a young lady named Tanya; she listened and together we came up with a solution. I paid for four dozen holiday cookies that had been baked the previous day. They were ready for pick up in no time and I was more than happy. She was friendly and professional and this was the first time I had visited this bakery. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable. It was a cloudy day and there were people seated outside enjoying the mild weather and people inside gathering at their local spot. A+ and the cookies were wonderful!
On this escapade, we found ourselves at a delightful nook in Laguna Hills, indulging in a trifecta of delight: a coffee as smooth as a jazz melody, a bagel embodying the very essence of freshness (dryness? Not on its watch!), and a bear-claw that would make any pastry aficionado's heart flutter.
Seating, you ask? Well, we embraced the Californian spirit and enjoyed our treats under the gentle embrace of the sun. Who needs indoor seating when you've got the golden state's mild winter as your backdrop, right? ;-D
In a nutshell, we're already plotting our return to this Laguna Hills gem. If you're in the neighborhood, don't miss out!
P.S. This review might be making a late entrance (we visited in November 2022), but like a perfectly aged wine or a masterfully baked bagel, it's worth the wait!
I was looking forward to trying their strawberry custard croissant , and I was not disappointed. I decided to order a couple since it was my first time. Descent size , price , flaky croissant , rich custard with just enough strawberries. Before entering the bakery I was a bit confused because I saw the door to enter but there were so many tables and chairs around main door . I had to zigzag to get to it . I just think that door should be clear of tables and chairs for easy access, however; I was greeted almost immediately upon entering , great customer service.
Very nice place! Only outside seating available. Take out also available. Just go in, order, grab a number and find a table. They’ll bring the food right to your table!
I recommend coming around 11 am and noon. This place gets really busy during actual breakfast time, 8, 9, 10 am.
We showed up at 11:30 am. A party of 4 adults and 2 kids. The place was not busy at all. No waiting in line. Lots of choices.
Staff was on point, very helpful, excellent recommendations, excellent attitude. Cool atmosphere in this place. Food was ready quickly, since it wasn’t busy!
Also, lots of dessert choices lol. They also do cakes, for birthdays and celebrations!
Definitely will recommend this place. Wish they had some inside seating though, but I know there is probably not enough space inside because it could get really crowded with the ordering line.
We had a good experience here today! Thank you!
Our original plan was Woody's but we stood at the front waiting for host/employee anybody but my wife walked around and couldn't find anyone. So we walked over and it was the best decision ever. Food was amazing service top notch. I got the Ronnie G and wife got the Pot roast dip and of course we got the cruffin. Definitely will be back to try more things
1st time visiting in person always have great food. I had only door dashed and it has always been fresh. This has been my recent breakfast spot in the area. I recommend their breakfast sandwiches. Cant wait to try more items on the menu.
Better than Subway and Mc Donald's. You won't go wrong! Staffs are friendly, accessible parking, wheelchair accessible. Great pastries and coffee. I love the English muffin. You'll like it!
Amazing amazing spot. Stopped for breakfast and got delicious avocado toast and an awesome breakfast sandwich. Great customer service - asked the cashier about the pastries, and she snuck in a free home-made cream puff in our to go bag! Highly recommend.
My wife and I found this place on a whim. On a very busy morning, my wife and I were headed to our respective COVID work from home workspaces when it dawned on me that I could really use a breakfast burrito. About 45 minutes after I said it, she knocked on my office door with the most amazing surprise. She handed me a hot and surprisingly hefty bundle of everything I was hoping for!
After DESTROYING the entire burrito in a matter of minutes (any reasonable person would have just eaten half) I asked my wife where she found such a gem. She told me she searched "breakfast burrito" in the delivery app and went with the highest rated. I was floored when I found out that the burrito (literally STUFFED with avocado, bacon, sausage, egg, cheese and potatoes) was not only less than $10 but also was made at a "bakery-cafe." This burrito rivaled any burger joint in the area and even put a few taco joints to shame for LESS money.
Now that we've ordered a second time with equal satisfaction, I HAD to post a review! Scratch makes one of the best breakfast burritos in the area!
!!!!UPDATE!!!!
We've become addicted to this place! English muffins, ham and cheese croissant, breakfast sandwiches, baguette, marbled rye loaf, Monte Cristo, chocolate
I am in love with this place! Everything is amazing, from their drinks to their sandwiches to their pastries. Their Everything Croissant was TO DIE FOR. Definitely also recommend the Lemon Tart, Spinach & Artichoke Croissant, & Cinnamon Roll. Honestly I'm trying to make my way through all the pastries so I'm sure I'll be adding more to my favorites list as time goes on. Still daydreaming about that Everything Croissant though. Gahhh it was perfect.
I had the best fresh English muffin since moving to the US 14 years ago. The breakfast sandwich was great, perfect size and very tasty. Coffee was also great. Thank you.
