Review The Cooperage American Grille - Lafayette

Love the Coop! I dined there with friends for my birthday and it was such a good time. The service was fantastic! We sat outdoors and there were string lights, heaters, and comfy seats. There was a new drink that came out on my birthday so obviously I had to try it and it was delish. We dined on oysters and truffle fries to start and I had the paella for my main. Super tasty! Ended with the creme brûlée. Highly recommend. P.S. they also do an amazing prix fixe Thanksgiving dinner.

The Cooperage is a restaurant located in Lafayette. They have dining inside and out; there is a lovely bar; it is wheelchair accessible; it is beautifully decorated with the staves of barrels; and there is a room in the back for groups. My friend recommended we go there. We decided to sit outside in the fresh air. The service was a little slow - - there was quite a crowd there for lunch on a Tuesday - - but our waitress was friendly. My friend and I decided to share some dishes. Our favorite was Warm Shaved Brussels Sprouts. If you don’t like brussels sprouts, you may want to give these a try. It’s hard to tell that it’s brussels sprouts – – I love brussels sprouts, and this is my new favorite brussels sprout dish! We also had fish tacos (Mahi Mahi) and also Prawns—It appeared that they had been sitting there on the counter because when we got them they weren’t hot anymore—but it was still tasty. For dessert we had a large sampling of their sorbets – – raspberry, lemon, and mango - - very tasty!!! This is a great place to break bread and catch up with an old friend!

Servers very very nice and professional Food is expensive but decent The crostini that came with the burrata app was stale and dry. Yuck! Good outdoor environment. I recommend, but just make sure you’re willing to spend the dough.

A family-friendly restaurant/bar where locals hang out and enjoy the food and the athomsphere, eating delicious dishes and lovely looking cocktails, tasty draft beers and colas. I went with my family for dinner. The salad was huge and my husband could not finish it on his own so shsre yours if you are not a monster eater. They have a fried chicken sandwich, but I ordered mine grilled and it was also delicious. I could only eat half of it since it had 3 big pieces of chicken. The burrata and pesto appetizer melts in your mouth!.....

I liked being able to sit outside in winter. There were three heaters nearby that created enough warmth for us to feel fine without big coats. The food was also fine - we had a late lunch there and felt pretty good about our meals...

Delicious salads for Saturday brunch, best crab louie salad I've ever had. Beautiful open layout and patio. We asked the server to expedite for us to make an appointment in an hour and she certainly delivered. I will definitely eat here again when I am in Lafayette next.

The Cooperage  32 Lafayette Circle, (925) 298-5915.  L-D daily.  This bustling spot features an expansive open interior with several dining areas--including a large heated patio and a large bar area.  Comfort food and vintage cocktails are staples on the relatively small, regularly changing menu--think deviled eggs with bacon, mac’n cheese, Brown Derby salad (roasted rotisserie chicken, bacon, blue cheese, avocado, tomato, egg), and a house burger made with a custom grind of short rib, sirloin, and brisket (and served with a side of either fries in a sweet little bag or a delicious Caesar salad).  Burrata with cherry tomatoes and Petaluma brick chicken are also popular.  Well-executed drinks include a gin and tonic enhanced with floating flowers and juniper berries, a colorful and spicey blood-orange margarita, and a mix of scotch and amaretto called The Godfather.

I've only been to Cooperage once but I really enjoyed it. I went for brunch on a Saturday and sat outside. The outdoor patio is a great place because there is lots of room, shade, and heat lamps. I had the Eggs Benedict (sub avocado and tomato for ham) and it was amazing! But the best part of brunch was the assortment of baked goods you can order. I took mine to go and enjoyed baked goods all week.

This new monument to fine dining is in the completely remodeled space where Petar’s ruled for 50 years or so.  Not a shred of the old remains, it’s all new and beautiful, with a vast amount of outdoor seating, a big bar area with 12 beers and 8 wines on tap, a semi-open kitchen and a large private “board room” for special events. We ate there tonight with The Rip (Mike Rippey) and his sweetie, Gretchen.  I made a reservation on OpenTable and was surprised to see that they were booked solid for all the usual dinner hours–I took the 5:45, the next available was 8:15. There were 3 tables in the dining room that stayed unused all through our dinner–it makes me wonder if they are playing games to look busier, although the
