Review Bj's Restaurant & Brewhouse - Lafayette

Lauren (Rose)
Good dining experience, came on a Sunday evening not too busy. Big restaurant with many levels of seating, from big parties to 2 person tables. The menu is also very expansive and diverse, you are sure to find something you can eat no matter your diet/restrictions. Highly recommend the wings, we got the root beer glazed wings and they were fabulous, definitely the best pick out of all what we ordered. I got the brewhouse bowl and it was packed with flavors and many different ingredients, I added blackened salmon and it was cooked deliciously , perfect flaky inside and crispy outside. They are skimpy with sauces, 3 of the dishes we ordered came with sauce and they didn’t give much, so if you are a sauce person, just ask for extra. Avocado egg rolls were okay, the Brussel sprouts were amazing, just needed some more sauce 😉 And of course you have to get a pizookie !! Warm and hot cookie topped with ice cream YUMM. I would come here again

Came here yesterday with the girls for a little lunch break while we shopped. They hadn’t been here before but loved it! The burgers are always great and they have a MASSIVE selection of beer. Also, don’t skip out on the pizza! Basically everything is good here, definitely don’t skip it!

Last minute decision was looking for a pasta dish. Went on the app to get on the waiting list, sat right away when we got here. Ended up with a spinach & artichoke dip for starters. Then 2 of us ordered the deep dish ziti (one without the sausage and meatballs) but had extra cheese. My husband got the brewhouse Philly with fries and coleslaw. Definitely had brought some home so I could have room for a pizookie. One white chocolate macadamia nut, one triple chocolate, and one cookies and cream. The meal overall was delicious!! It was a little long waiting for the food, but I didn't mind. It gave us time to rest in between and chat a while. Also ordered a strawberry margarita!!

The food here was absolutely delicious!!! I could have ordered anything on the menu, there’s so much to choose from. Our waiter Jude was very attentive, helpful, and nice! Definitely will be back here! I also loved that they had the calorie count per dish👏

It was a very nice experience because, we had a nice waitress and very good food was provided With a generally good appearance. The atmosphere was impeccable And the waitress we had was extremely nice, and she even made me a very delicious concoction of drinks when I complained about the bitterness of my lemonade. I recommend this restaurant to everyone.

I tried a third new root beer, and it was excellent. brewed locally. We received both deep dish and thin. Both were excellent. We're terrific at appetizers too. potato skins with cheese curds deep-fried. The staff was helpful and friendly.

2/2/20 Really delicious Pepperoni Extreme Flatbread, Broccoli Cheddar Soup, Lemon Thyme Chicken meal, and the Black Cherry Soda was exactly what I needed! The food tastes very "healthy" and light. The ambiance is pleasant, too. Great restaurant design! Do NOT ORDER THE MONKEY BREAD--YUCK! The ice cream on top was really decadent, though.

Most recent experience was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at any restaurant. Started off great with a excellent server but things went downhill fast. Appetizers came out perfect but right before the entrees were to be delivered I stepped away from the talbe for less than 5 minutes and a buss boy came to the table and took freshly prepared food and began stacking dirty dishes on everything ruining everything that was perfectly fine food. My left over Appetizers that were sitting next to the take home box were completely ruined. Worst part was a perfectly cooked prime rib dinner had a stack of dirty dishes slammed into a dinner that hadn't even touched. So $60 worth of food was completely ruined. I had just spoken to my waitress who knew that I need to step outside for less than 2 minutes but still managed to allow the table with drinks, food to be taken home ( to go boxes were sitting next to the left over Appetizers and a freshly prepared entrees had just been delivered but despite all of this the food was treated like trash. The manager on duty failed to make any attempts to address the complete waste of food and at no time did he offer to make any attempts to correct the horrible mistake. I left hungry, angry, and completely disappointed by the entire events Not once was I stopped by management to make any attempt to correct their obvious mistakes and no discount for the ruined food was even discussed. I worked in the food industry for 6 years and something like this would never have been allowed to occur much less allowing the customer to leave without any effort to make amends. Be aware when taking your chances at B J's Brewhouse because spending too much in the bathroom or visiting friends away from your table could result in a complete disregard for your food.

Really love this restaurant. They have a very large menu which can seem intimidating, but is much better than a smaller alternative. There is something for everyone at this place. Our server came promptly within minutes of being seating and was extremely patient with answering questions due a few first-timers in my party (we had 8 people). Additionally, another server stopped by the table for quick chat to break the wait the time before our food arrived. Tons of food was ordered, the staff was very friendly and helpful and we certainly recommend this place!

This was a nice experience that I was invited to. The orders were already placed for us which was appetizers. We enjoyed the potato skins which were delicious: I hardly ever order these anywhere because it makes you full fast. Next we tried the "sampler" with cheese sticks, boneless breaded chicken pieces, spinach and artichoke dip, and avocado eggrolls. These were all good as well. I'm a Dipper so I appreciate when each item has it's own dipping sauce. After that, a plate of what I believe was brisket sliders but they did not make it to our end of the table; therefore, I cannot tell you what they taste like. The wait staff was kind of attentive, could have been better. I say this because I have been a waitress in a place as such and it does take some preparation, improvising, and a few servers to get the job done effectively as if it were a table of two. This was not the case. We waited for each appetizer to come out about 15 minutes in between. I could easily tell where the "bottleneck" began on the floor. In my opinion, I will have a different experience when I go with my family or a friend. Overall, it was delightful and I met some great people. The atmosphere was nice and I will visit again for the personal ordeal. It was good enough for me to return but not so bad to complain. This is an unbiased and honest review.

I really really like this place! It is for their selection of beer, their food, the bar, the ambience, the people... the list in endless. I have been here in large groups and small and I've always felt very welcomed. The people are very nice. Coming to the food, I've always enjoyed their food. The Salmon, the Chicken, the Pizza, the Burger and the salads. I've never had anything major complains about the quality of the food. I had a small complaint with the salmon once, and it was promptly attended to, which was very professional of them. I felt that the steak could be presented better than it is. Overall, I love this place. I have enjoyed all kinds of Pale Ales at their Brewhouse. Never tried the cocktails or anything else. Must try.

Lunch on a Sunday...game is on the TV ...food is great...beers are awesome. Went tonight for apps and beers, after 7pm on a Thursday. Easily was seated a few menu items were out of stock but what we did get was delicious as always. New menu selections !! The Ahi Poke Tacos are delicious!! The food is always amazing, but if you have the opportunity to go to a Beer Dinner definitely do it...awesome experience along with amazing food and beer pairings.

The menu is almost too extensive, which causes two main things: 1) Indecisiveness 2) Lower quality. The service isn't terrible. I come here when invited, otherwise I prefer to go elsewhere.

Came here for the fish and chips. They said REAL COD served the REAL WAY! We were there when they opened. Waited quite a while. Manager comes over and explains to us that they "screwed up the batter and will be attempting to remake it for us". Kindly offers us a free app. Very nice of them. Second time, we get the fish and chips. It looks great, except for the fact that the fish are immersed in a sea of cooking oil on the tray, so we transfer it to a clean dish, cut it open and out spews even MORE oil. Either their oil wasn't hot enough, or they SERIOUSLY need to hire someone who knows how to fry fish. It took us a week to recover from this! The fish was also undercooked. The cod looked to be of really good quality, but they seriously need to hire someone who know how to cook it. Never going back! Very pricey!

I don't like this place. The interior is nice, but that's about it. The beer. Club sandwich. Hamburger. Turkey dip sandwich. Fries. Salad (drenched in dressing). Clam chowder. None of it was any good. Certainly not a place we will go back to.

I always enjoy this place. The menu is pretty large so there's something for everyone and their pizza is pretty good if you like tavern style thin crust pizza.

Was not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. Food is very flavor oriented, nothing unique or fancy, just and american themed restaurant that on my visit executed all the food exceptionally well. Food was hot and fried perfectly. The Salmon was delicious, the chicken was crispy, the mash potatoes fresh. Everything was seasoned right, we had no complaints. The drink menu, and food menu was huge!!!! It was a little difficult trying to decide! Over all just a pleasant experience. My expectation is that in time the kitchen will suffer and the food will become as Applebee's. But until then I will enjoy this spot.

Food is really good. Had Brussel sprouts found them phenomenal. Great atmosphere and well diverse menu with plenty to choose from, from many different ingredients.

Nice place with lots of promise.

As a beer fiend, I'm going to say their selection is well thought out and very balanced and that includes their own brews. Too often I see places with dozens of taps only to have nearly all the same style, color, and flavor on each one. Kudos to whomever is in charge of the beer selection.

I've been there about 7 times or so since it opened. My experience with service is hit and miss. Certainly, I've always had good table service. But out of 4 trips to the bar, only once did I have decent service. One time came close to okay. The other two were horrid. I haven't seen those particular bartenders again, so perhaps they've been weeded out of the initial hiring pool by now. I'm sure as they find their footing, BJ's will improve overall in the service department.

But we folks don't go out to eat for beer and service. We want great food. You can certainly find some here. Both the rib appetizer (made with a rootbeer based glaze) and the entrée (made with a beer based sauce) are both excellent.

The cherry glazed salmon over cous cous is also delicious. (though I had ordered the quinoa bowl, whatever)

The Ahi Poke salad is pretty good, and a very refreshing and light appetizer that you won't fill up on.

Skip the burgers. Terrible and flavorless patties. What a shame. Their fries are worse. The only redeeming quality is that they are thin and crispy. But since they refuse to season them AT ALL, you'll definitely need some ketchup to be able to put them down. I just don't understand people who don't season food. I mean, I'm not asking for you to burn my mouth out with salt or pepper, but something other than BLAND would be nice.

The tavern pizza (italian market) was too 'tangy.' But as with any pizza, it was much better cold for lunch the next day. (I think the tang came from the fact that the pepperoni is diced AND they have pickled pepperoncini as an ingredient)

The ribeye was horrible. Not worth the price. Drowned in black pepper. (really, from a flavorless burger that you make yourself everyday to a steak ruined by drowning it in black pepper—consistency people, consistency) Also, you'll need to order it two degrees less than what you want. They apparently cook it to temp, but they forget that a steak keeps cooking after it is removed from the heat. Medium rare quickly turned to medium well half-way through eating it. A thicker cut might help out here. Mine was a bit thin at 1/2inch.

But by far, their best dish is the North Beach Mahi & Shrimp. It's like a tavern version of a courtbouillon. The fish and shrimp are lightly poached in a thin tomato broth and served over cous cous. The flavor is excellent. (see you guys DO know how to cook and season properly. Now why can't you do that with a burger and fries? or that $25+ steak?)

All in all, I'm sure I'll be back to try other items on their absurdly large menu. (which might be part of their problem)

Worth a visit if not for the beer and ribs alone. Also, they make their own root beer, cream soda, and cherry soda. If I can make myself avoid an adult brew, I'll try one of these next.

It's a nice place and the staff was very attentive and well trained but i found it was pretty over priced. For me I feel that the food needs to be top notch to charge those prices. I did like the beer options and love trying new beers but I don't know if that will be enough to get me back there very often. Give it a try if you like, but I would prefer spend my cash on something that might satisfy my taste buds to a higher level.

1/28/2018
Gave it another try today and had the Deep Dish Ziti and it was very good. Great gooey cheese, seasoned sauce and tasty meatballs. I also couldn't pass up having the Fried Cheese Curds. Such a great comfort food. So savery and delicious. It's been a while since I've been there and the service was still very good but maybe the food quality improved. I have upgraded my rating to coincide with my new favorable experience. I still think the price of the entree was a little high. The price for my entree was equivalent to most restaurant pasta entrees with shrimp, mine had no Seafood. A few dollars to high in my opinion. But if cost isn't a factor for you, throw caution to the wind and give it a try.

This place is your basic Chilis/Bennigans/Applebee's/Cheddars with a very large beer selection. The menu is huge with burgers, pizza, pasta, sandwiches, seafood, steaks...you name it. However, all in all the food quality was only average at best. Nothing was bad it just wasn't very good either. Unless you are a really big beer lover, you aren't missing much here.

Visited during the opening month so service was a little slow. Overall our experience was good and environment is family friendly. Large food and drink menu basically anything you can think of. I had an appetizer and deep dish pizza. If I could do it again I would probably order the regular pizza the deep dish was just okay. Prices were a little high. Definitely worth a visit.

House beer was great. I had the brisket BBQ burger. It tasted good, but it was all bun. Not enough meat. Service was great. Parking garage sucked.

This week the kids have been out of School for Spring Break. My nephew was visiting, so I took the kids shopping. After a busy day of shopping and fun, we went to dinner at BJ’s Brewhouse and Restaurant. The exterior of the building really came out well. When we walked in we were greeted by a really sweet hostess. The restaurant was packed. We arrived right before the mad rush.
