Review La Pagua Mexican Restaurant - Lafayette

Always an authentic Mexican dish here. Beef burritos are my goto with that amazing enchilada sauce!

Food was Great and authentic. The wait time for food was long but worth it. The portions were very big! My party of 3 did the meal deal for 2 and we still had food left over. Very reasonable prices and staff was fast. The roasted whole onions were amazing🤩

Great food and their Menudo is second to none in this area. Chips and Salsa are very good as well. Price is a little high in my opinion but all in all if you have a little extra money and want great Menudo, then this is your place to go. Aside from the Menudo, the tacos are very good as well.
Michelle Elmer
Food was great. Our Server(Frances) was super sweet with answering our questions and she was also very attentive. We had a great first visit.

There's a wide variety of choices. I like the tacos here. If Tex Mex is your jam they have a lot of that here too. It wasn't crowded and service was good.
Jennifer Mata
Atmosphere was nice. Friendly staff. Prices could be a little lower to compete with other area Mexican restaurants. We enjoyed our food.

La Pagua for chips and salsa like all you can crunch! Wonderful food and an excellent staff!

Overall good place. Price is a little high in my opinion and atmosphere could be a little better but definitely a place to try if you have the time.

I absolutely love this spot. Service is quick, fast, and polite. As usual the food is amazing. The place just feels clean when you walk in and sit down. Highly recommend to everyone.
Kristi Morgan
Amazing food, fun atmosphere, and they made accommodations for my low carb diet. Great overall experience!!

This would be a much friendlier place if the owners wife Dorris wasn’t being cheated on by her husband Oscar who runs the place with the manager Kim. Because of him having relations with the manager behind his wife’s back the restaurant has suffered when she’s there. She does nothing but eat at the bar and whine at servers over problems that don’t make a difference instead of getting off her butt and getting to work. Dorris be blessed strong woman. I hope you find true love one day and don’t have to share it.

Finally! I have found good Mexican food in Louisiana. Kept it simple today with beef enchiladas, but also wanted to try out the bistek taco. Happy to report everything was excellent. The tacos are small, what you would cal street tacos. I would probably order 4-5 if that’s all I was eating. Beef was tender and flavorful. Also the taco sauce had a nice kick. As far as the enchiladas, another home run. The rice is yellow, and a nice change from the standard red Spanish rice. Beans had a good flavor and the enchilada gravy was seriously good. Some places overpower the sauce with to much cumino or chili powder. But, LaPagua gets it just right.

Good grilled meat platter. Fresh ingredients. Chicken Tortilla Soup was very good. Waitress was very attentive and personable. Will visit again.

La Pagua is one of the better Mexican restaurants in Lafayette. The interior is a tad on the small size so it does not take long for it to fill up when they are busy. If the weather is good there is seating on the outside. My favorite dish is the Ceviche. La Pagua absolutely hands down make the very best Ceviche I have ever eaten. The flavors just excite your mouth. I usually eat it with the corn chips they serve with the appetizer. I have gone there a many times and just order the Ceviche and the white cheese dip or the guacamole dip. Their signature drink is .... you guess it "The Margarita" and it is very good. Prices are very reasonable and the service is usually excellent. All in all a great place to dine.

Have had lunch here on several occasions and have never been disappointed. Today's selection was the Steak Caesar Salad ... Excellent! Good friendly service 😊. I'll be back.
How have I not left a review on this gem before?

This is definitely the best and most authentic Mexican food you'll find in town.

I'm a regular consumer of any and all of their a la carte tacos and their papusas.

The seafood chimichanga is fried perfectly and very flavorful.

I prefer more traditional tamales that aren't so greasy, but the ones here are as good as any you'll find locally.

Service is always spot on and prompt.

And you can't beat the price.

La Pagua is a good Mexican option in Lafayette. Not dive-like or seedy, and some very good food. The main drawback is that La Pagua is popular, so during peak times you will wait quite a while to be seated. The stand out dish on the La Pagua menu is their mole. Rich and truly the best I've had anywhere. Strange that I never see anyone else eating the mole there. Oh well, more for me :) Their drinks are excellent too although more expensive than elsewhere. Overall a great experience and the service is excellent.
John
Our meal was good overall but there was room for improvement. The chips came warm and the salsa was just the right of spicy. We all had lunch specials. My duo of enchiladas one beef and one chicken were a mixed bag. Now they came out hot - burn your mouth hot. The beef was much better than the chicken. The chicken was on the dry side

I brought the family here on a co-workers recommendation and he was right on the money. It's nice to have choices other than tex-mex. The taco Al pastor is the best I've had since I first tried them from a street vender in Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico. As good as they were, the barbacoa taco and cochinita taco were even better. I have never found authentic Mexican food that my wife likes until now. We will be back!

Went around 12 on a Sunday, seated right away, server very personable, and the food was tasty. Authentic Mexican food! I'd choose this place over any other Mexican in Lafayette.

Awesome!. The food and service was great.very kid and baby friendly. They even had sliced avocado for the baby. Affordable.

Customer service not the best. We ordered food at La Pagua one evening. We paid for it and got home with our order, and it was completely incorrect. We called and brought back the food and they refused to refund us or correct their mistake. The workers even argued with us too. We were "regular" customers and would go very often. They did not take responsibility and did not want to be held accountable. It's exccellent until a mistake is made.

Pork and Cheese Pupusa. In-freakin-credible!!

We have been looking for a good Mexican restaurant since we moved to lafayette and we Found it!!! Very good, great and friendly service.
Lcamfamily
Authentic Mexican food at a good price!. You sit down and individual salsa and shared chips are brought to the table. I had the chicken tortilla soup and a bistek taco! Soup was TO DIE FOR! So fresh and homemade. The perfect remedy if you are sick. My taco was topped with cilantro and onions. This food was outstanding. Atmosphere and service is great. Prices are affordable. Enjoy this great Mexican restaurant!
Allison
La Pagua. Finally a Mexican place with authentic food and wonderful service. Great prices too! Always a favorite.
Andre LeJeune
Great food and wonderful staff. The authentic tacos are my go to for lunch!
Msnthrope1
Very ordinary food. Although we had excellent service I really cannot recommend this place as constituting value for money.
Melissakelly1623
Not Impressed!!!!. Food was ( OK ) at Best!!! Nothing special about this place. Ordered Fajitas, - cheese is an extra side dish - with an extra charge. (WHAT???) Margarita - What a disappointment. Family of 4- bill was over 90.00.
Jennyleeprudhomme
Margaritas are good. Great margaritas!
The house is better than most Mexican restaurants.
But, no drink specials, no 2 for 1.
Nonc Chu
So good. This is by far one of the best Mexican restaurants in Lafayette (there's only one other that is almost as good). Great food every time. Tacos are always on point and at around $2 each are always a good idea to add on to whatever entree you get. Homemade sauces rock, too.
Kaitlynlisella
Terrible service. Worst service ever. Sat and watched people walk in and get tables while we waited 45 minutes.
BG
I judge a Mexican Restaurant by 3 things, Chile releno plate, Margaritas, and queso. This place's Chili Releno plate was epic. Haven't tried the Margarita yet. And the queso and salsa is excellent. Definitely recommend this place for a good Mexican meal.

Chicken Enchilada Suiza. AWESOME!
Facebook User
Love it!. Awesome food and best margaritas in town!

-----28 Aug, 2014-----

Awesome!. This is the best Latin restaurant in Lafayette. Margaritas included
Gregg
Awesome! Had the steak fajita chimichanga and wife had chicken fajita chimichanga . Both were excellent-sat at bar to eat, bartender very nice and carafe of margarita hit the spot. Definitely recommend this place!
Jen
Visited from out of town because of high Urban Spoon Rating. LOVED it.. Perfectly cooked Lengua! Not over-seasoned as you can find in other restaurants. Tacos were excellent. The Papusas was delightfully delicious. My husband had the taco al carbon and tacos al pastor. Very good! My kids had grilled cheese and hamburgers and the child's hamburger was delicious!! The meat was tender and flavorful and cooked perfectly. Big thumbs up to La Pagua and we will come again when we are back in town.
Stephen
Favorite Mexican food in Lafayette. I have been going to this place for years. If you like authentic mexican food this is the place to go. I' stay away from the american mexican food as its not as good and is more expensive.
Get the authentic tacos, papusas or Chilaquiles.
Amelia
Nice Comfort Mexican Food!. Wow! I was surprised at how much I liked this restaurant! I went here because La Fonda's was closed (I love La Fonda) and I was delighted with my dinner! The avocado dip was delicious!! The pupusas were fabulous!! I ordered mine filled with beans and cheese, and what a comforting dish! Love this!!
I also ordered the cheese enchilada plate (I'm a vegetarian) and it came with so much food! The enchiladas were yummy as were the refried beans and rice
I loved all of my food, including the chips and salsa at the beginning.
The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the margarita was more like a refreshing lemon or limeade. I could not imagine more than a drip of tequila being in it. It was delicious, but like I said, it wasn't an alcoholic drink for me.
Another suggestion would be for them to add some festive lighting for their small outdoor patio, however, it would only be for the smokers who gathered out there.
Aaguillet
HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!. Ordered take out, they got the order wrong and wanted us to pay for their mistake after making us bringing the food back to there establishment and having the rest of family wait to eat and our other food was getting cold. Will NEVER order or eat at this place again.
Dawn E
Good Food. I ate there recently and the fajitas were really good. It's authentic style mexican food with a friendly staff.
Holly
Not the same it used to be. We stop going for a while to get them a chance to improve with the new location ThE FOOD TAKES FOREVER!! and also is the wait staff are not as personable as they once were. It's as if they are told to no longer visit with the customers like they used to. This is even when they are not crazy busy like usual. No one talks to you anymore. It used to be a more family type atmosphere, especially after knowing the staff all these years.. That's not so anymore. Maybe it's the new manager? She is very rude.
Theresa.remel
Theresa. Absolutely delicious authentic Mexican! My favorite in Lafayette!
Mitchl1221
Ok food. Ate lunch here recently on a Friday. Had never tried it. The food is ok and while they do indeed have some authentic Mexican entrees on the menu, like menudo and tongue tacos, I wasn't terribly impressed with the burrito I ordered off the lunch menu. I lived in San Angelo, TX for awhile and I know what real Mexican food is. My burrito had little to no seasoning. It tasted like a notch or two above Taco Bell. It was ok, but not sure I'll be back especially because the service wasn't too great.
Renee
The BEST authentic Mexican Restaurant in Lafayette. Excellent food, consistent, and friendly staff. AWESOME!
Texas Girl
Expensive for Mexican food! My family of 6 went there and we didn't get anything extravagant...just burritos, quesadillas and chimichangas and our bill was $96!!! The food was not anything special either. We have much better Mexican food in San Marcos for under half of the price of La Pagua! Not impressed!!!
LD
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! The food is meh ok but the staff is so incredibly rude it's not worth it!!!
Joe Blow
Best Enchiladas. Best enchiladas. Salsa, not so much.
Blander27
Tongue tacos were good, customer servive was terrible. They overcharged a coworker on a to go order and when she called them on ot they admitted their mistake but tried to tell her they could not issue refunds on credit cards. She was hung up on several times and had to continue to call back to get her money. She ended up getting it taken care of after wasting an entire day on the phone with them...I dont think I will make this a regular spot due to poor attitudes of the current staff .
John
First time customer. I asked how many shrimp tacos in an order--2--so I ordered three orders. Picked up. Went home. Only three tacos. Called and it was clear the didn't explain it right. Were defensive. Had to drive all the way back. No discount. No apologies.
Won't be back. Bad customer service!
Flint
Not as good as it used to be. Slow, indifferent service. Saw one of our mole dishes sit for 10 minutes before it was served with the others. By that time, the mole looked and tasted horrible. Our other dishes were mediocre. Better Mexican food at Blue Agave and La Morenita.
Viola
Not as good as I was lead to believe by other reviews. First time I've ever had fajitas served NOT sizzling. I won't be coming back not at all impressed.
John Saul
Ignorance Is Truly Bliss!. La Pagua is a traditional latin food experience. If your thing is steaming fajitas on hot iron covered in Oleo or scantily clad double breasted bodies covered in sprayed on makeup serving fat wings—Well, you get it. Their Menudo is very, very good as is most of their traditional latin food. If you want fluourishes you need to go somewhere else. Hasta luego pendejo (I'm a gringo by the way)!
Holly
La pagua is not the same anymore. We miss the all staff Food is ok. Service is very slow and food takes forever.
RaginTiger
Just ate at La Pagua for this first time tonight. Had chicken tortilla soup and grilled tilapia. The soup was good but kinda bland. The grilled tilapia was not flavorful at all. The salsa was ok but nothing special. Overall it was an ok experience but not good enough to want to make me return.
Myveryownjet
My family and I have been FAITHFUL patrons of La Pagua since their opening five years ago. Although, we don't enjoy the new location as much as the old one...new employees, new customers, etc...we still enjoy our dining experiences. Our favorites are the pupusas, tamales, coctel de camarones, barbacoa tacos, tacos al carbon and parrillida la pagua. This is the best Mexican food in Lafayette...and I know Mexican. I'm from San Antonio.
Megmill
This is not what I would consider "traditional" style Mexican. While the flavors are pleasant I did not particularly enjoy. The salsa is very mild, and has a chili seasoning type of taste. I ordered the chicken fajitas for lunch, the chicken was flavorful, however the quantity was disappointing. I had about seven strips of small chicken ( similar to the fajita chicken in the bags that you can buy in the freezer section at most stores). The rice was decent, but lacked flavor. In addition, they served a single hard flat taco shell with guacamole on top.. Very disappointed in that, as when I think of fajitas I expect to receive a few warm soft tortillas. Anyway, in the positive side, they make one of the BEST strawberry margaritas in town and they served a whole onion grilled and wrapped in foil, which was delightful! Overall, not a horrible experience, just not my idea of good Mexican food.
Ramin Pirouznia
The tongue tacos and the bistek tacos are some of the best I have ever had.
BillD1956
1st time last night. Drinks weren't good. Tasted watered down. Camerones Pagua were NOT as advertised. No bacon, no cheese, just deep fried store shrimp. Pollo Asada was ok, only. My friend's Cosmo was left on table. Bar tender waited on us and worked bar. Heard many good things but Will not go back.
Cookincajun
Punished by Salad. I have enjoyed La Pagua in the past but now am on a diet so my options here were, to say the least, limited. I ordered the La Pagua Salad with "grilled chicken"- this is apparently on the menu to punish gringos like me. Bag lettuce, two strips of avocado, cold chicken (not fajita style) and the dressing was a packet of Kraft honey mustard. I asked for the house dressing and learned that there is none. How does a chef not know how to mix vinegar and oil? Never again, gracias!
Daisy
This was the worst "Mexican" food I have ever had! Everything tasted like it came out of a can! The hot sauce tasted more like pizza sauce watered down! We got the enchiladas and they were super small! Very over priced for the food quantity and defiantly over priced for the taste! It was a disgrace to actual Mexican food! I would go to Taco Bell before I would go here!!
LJ Benoit
Love this place! Best Mexican restaurant in Lafayette! Order the "pitcher" of margaritas for a better deal...it's not actually a pitcher, it's a carafe.
Jwebb189
Best Mexican Place in Lafayette. Best Mexican in Lafayette hands down.
Anthony
Good. I am a regular of this place. I'm glad they have a new location but it is still too small. The food is probably the best Lafayette has to offer as far as Mexican food goes. I wouldnt say they have exceptional prices. Service is just OK. Their lunch menu isnt really cheaper than their dinner menu either. They dont offer drink specials which is a shame. My biggest pet peave about LaPagua is their business hours. They close way too early, 9pm on most nights and 4pm on Sundays. I know many people who have wanted to eat there at 10 or 11 pm on any given day. There are not many restaurant choices in Lafayette after 9pm and it's a shame that LaPagua doesnt take advantage of the potential business that is out there specifically for their food.
Nutmegger
I really liked this place!. And I will go back! My only negatives were that it was super busy and there was about a 20 minute wait.

Seriously, that's it.

Shouldn't that be expected for EVERY 5 star review?

Food was very good. Staff was Good. Wait was almost to the minute that they said it was.

It was a bit loud inside, so probably not good for a romantic dinner (depending on your idea of romantic), but I brought my two year old twins, so it worked perfectly for me, and it wasn't like it was a "rowdy" crowd at all, so don't get me wrong, just very busy with lots of families having dinner.
Steph Perry
Great!. Awesome! Pitcher of the "el jefe" margarita and t he papusas were BOSS! Salsa was... ok. It was very good overall. Christie was a great server!
DrPiggapus
One of my favorites. Was a hole in the wall, but like George and Weezie, La Pagua has moved on up.

Very good food, excellent drinks and perfect service.

There can be a bit of a wait so get reservations.

Try the beef tongue taco and you might just be able to roll your Rs when speaking Spanish!
Eric
Worst restraunt I've been too in a long time. We got seated rather quickly and ordered drinks and guacamole. The salsa here tastes like Campbell's tomato soup absolutly horrible. When you get a
drink drink it slow more than likly it will be the only one you get for the evening. Guacamole was basically blended avacados my dinner was fajita chimichanga, basically a two ingredient dish. About 3 chopped up onions and 2 oz. of steak. It was completly bland and rubbery. My dinner wasn't the only bad one my brother took 1 bite and dedicated his plate to our dog mason who btw decided this food wasnt worth her time either. It was my birthday and I was haveing dinner with my family this place ruined the night food here is so bad it would have been worth the 45 min wait at coyote blues to have food with flavor. I would completly recommend someone just lock the doors on this restraunt and stop them from serving food EVER.
Scott
We've been going since the 3rd day they where open in the small place behind Baskin Robins. From the small place they where to the larger place now, the food remains the same. It's great.
Only complaint is the wait staff are not as personable as they once were. It's as if they are told to no longer visit with the customers like they used to. This is even when they are not crazy busy like usual. It used to be a more family type atmosphere, especially after knowing the staff all these years.. That's not so anymore. Maybe it's the new manager?
But overall it's still by far the best Mexican restaurant in Lafayette.
Joanne
Their service is a little slow. My dinner was very good however my husbands was not. They have no idea how to serve a fujita. He ordered the steak, chicken and shrimp fujita. Well he ended up with 4 strips of steak, 5 small shrimp and no chicken. It came out on a cold plate without lettece or tomato and no refried beans. If your liking for a good fujita this is not the place to go.
Samantha S
Came here on a Friday night (11-2-12), was told there would be a 30 minute wait. We stood outside (4 and a toddler), and watched as everyone around us got sat. We asked the host a couple times when we were going to be seated, they told us our table was coming up. A 30 minute wait turned into 50 minutes and we still did not get seated yet everybody that arrived after us did. We gave up and left because they were giving us the run around. Won't be trying to dine here ever again.
Mochasboss
The food here is remarkable. Fresh, clean, no junk ingredients. Amazing salsa, fresh made. They also make their own tortillas. This the real thing. My favorite is the 3 mixed enchiladas. Excellent food!
Zach Hinchy
Excellent. If I'm wanting delicious, high quality Mexican food, La Pagua is my favorite choice. Their food is always delicious and service is great. Some of my favorite restaurant style salsa anywhere. Their new location is also stellar. Highly recommended!
Williams First
The service is great can't wait till they move. With so much stuff on the menu its hard to choose but I like anything pastor if "bordo" (excuse the spelling) makes it !!!
GREAT PLACE!!!
Ruben
Absolutely amazing! I have been looking for a place with real, authentic mexican food. Im glad i went to check it out.The staff was great!
Celtic_Diva
Good. Really like this place, though I'm not big on Mexican food. Queso and salsa are great, the tacos are delicious, and they have an amazing mojito. Never have had any problems with service. Highly recommend the place.
Seej
I don't like everything on the menu. Burritos are so-so, but you won't find better tacos in Lafayette. I get the Barbacoas every time.
Tasty margaritas and nice servers!
Mixologyhobby
Best margarita in Lafayette. Period. The food is only alright but I haven't been enough times to fully experience it, but def give this place a try!
Tammy
Great authentic Mexican food with wonderful service. We will definitely be visiting this place again.
Bradley Marshall
Like no other!. Excellent service! Try the pork & cheese pupusas and the torta de barbacoa. Can't miss!
Jennifer D'Augereau
Always delicious and the tortilla soup is the by far the best I have ever tasted!
Stephanie L. Innes
The food was too rich! The cheese that was on top of my chimichanga was white Velveeta which was too thick and rich. I barely ate anything and it was pricey! Won't be going back!
LOVESTOEAT
Fajitas far from sizzling??. Recently ate here after a co worker told me about the Margaritas...I had guacamole and a shrimp taco. It was good. So were the chips and salsa. My husband ordered Steak Fajitas and they were room temp!!!! Probably won't return. Nothing special.
Emily Japporo
The atmosphere is great with pears and so on. The logo is a little disturbing though! A dancing cactus is a nightmare. I'll get over it. The tacos are great!!
Jacob Hohensee
Great place. The food was delicious. Our waitress, Kristie, was wonderful.
Roux Sauce
Very Authentic!. I went here for my first time last week. There were four of us and we all loved our food. The queso was amazing and the salsa was freshly made! Our waiters name was Alfredo. He explained every part of the menu to us... and if its your birthday he sings happy birthday to you which is amazing!
C. Kirkhoff
What is it about this strip?. First class casual dining Mexican. Along with Mae Sone, this is another crowning jewel of an otherwise dingy-looking little strip mall off of the main drag.

The atmosphere was refreshingly pleasant in sharp contrast to most other holes in the wall, and set the precedent. The salsa was okay, nothing to write home about, but the real stars were their handcrafted cayenne and cilantro sauces that you could mix in and douse anything that you wanted with. Chips were perfect. The chorizo quesadilla was perhaps even more perfect, with the addition of delicious homemade guacamole. Tacos el carbon were nothing fancy, nor did they need to be to complement mounds of good steak and fantastic grilled onions. Alcoholic drinks are sweet and satisfying, although not poured very heavily and as a result, fairly expensive.

Service was superior. No...really! Take any preconceived notions and throw them out; I have done the job, and these people executed with genuine kindness, enthusiasm and a sense of humor. We did not need to request anything (except napkins because I was clumsy).

I feared La Pagua might have been way overrated (like Luna's in LC), but it is well-deserving of its praise.
Cmomgo
The papusas were fantastic. The service is fabulous. We will definitely be back again and again.
Lauren
Fan-fricken-tastic !!. This is by far the only authentic Mexican restaurant in Lafayette. The carnitas and barbacoa tacos are fabulous. The tortilla soup is my favorite... El Jefe Margarita is great! I could eat here everyday. SO
Lord BoardKnight
Best authentic Mexican food in South Louisiana. Excellent fajitas and burritos with very creative margarita
Pattisue
Authentic and Delicious. We've been twice, both time very pleased with our choices. Last night I got the Coctel de Camaron (shrimp cocktail, Mexican style). There were plenty of really fresh shrimp swimming in a light sauce with diced tomatoes, onions & cilantro. Fresh & delicious. I also ordered three tacos, the barbacoa, al pastor, and the cochinita. Flavorful, delicious, nothing like Taco Bell! REAL food. Did I mention delicious? I'm sure my husband's meal was good, too. He said it was, but I was too busy enjoying my own. Our server was helpful and informative. Will return. The Bloody Mary was good, could've used some veg!
Mechele De Avila Evans
Cheese enchilada. Very cheese, rich slightly creamy sauce. Yum! This is not Mexican food gone gringo, but the real deal.
Brian Blessing
The Barbacoa is amazing. Being from Texas, I am so surprised they nailed it. Can't wait to try other dishes. Their salsa sucks, but they can fix it.
Brandi Comeaux
Barbacoa taco. Huevos con chorizo. the rice!! It's all freaking phenomenal!
Marieli Barber
Barbacoa taco. Humm i love this delicious taco only at la pagua restaurant!!
BlakeW
La Pagua. It's amazing.....go there!
Aaasusie50
La Pagua. The most wonderful Mexican food I have ever eaten. Had a tamale, a shredded beef taco, con queso dip, a tamale, and a pupusa. Will definitely be back
Hank
An absolute disaster. At best this is airport food. Fajitas were a few pieces of room temperature beef which appear to have been cooked hours earlier. The salsa appears to be store bought. My girlfriend ordered the tacos and three times had to spit out grizzle. Poor service all around. Save your time, stomach, and money.
Brandon Louviere
Papusa!. Awesome food. Try the mole or the papusas. They are fantastic. Authentic food.
Amb1830
Great food. This is my new spot for Mexican food. Casual atmosphere, small space, great service, terrific food and unbelievable drinks. I believe their Cadiallac margarita is $7 for 12 oz and oh so smooth! The chicken tortilla soup was good and tacos even better.
Amber Ray- Flores
Ehh. It was OK at best. We have a Mexican restaurant in town and we go sometimes to get something different. They have a large menu- and I liked that. Lots to chose from! The guacamole dip was good. The cheesedip was unimpressive. My meal was ok, but had way too much spice (and I love spice). The salsa was also unimpressive. The service was good too. We will be back! Hopefully my next option from the menu will be a better one!
B Wallace
Real Deal & The Usual. Great mix of real mex and tex mex to keep everyone happy. Try the pupusas. And if you're trying to be healthy (i'm not), a few friends of mine love the fish tacos.
Tuts
Best TRUE Mexican in Lafayette.... If you are looking for real authentic mexican food, this is the place. Chef/owner has worked at many places around the city, & beyond,& finally decided to open his own place. The place is small but the service is great-ask for Alfredo, he knows how to service a table & he is knowledgable about the entire menu, answering your questions & recommending house specialties . The tacos are a TRUE taste of Mexico, get one of each, you won't be disappointed. The fajita chimichanga is probably one of the best I've ever had. The portions left you wanting for nothing more than a to go box & the prices are very resonable. If you are tired of middle of the road, same ol' same ol' food that passes for Mexican, try La Pagua, you will be happy you did!
Shelly
Love it!!. I'm from the south/midwest so i know the difference between good authentic mexican food and not so much. La pagua is absolutely delicious. My favorite Mexican food resturant in Lafayette. Not to mention the awesome service!
Anm11
This place is truly a hidden gem!! By far the most authentic Mexican cuisine I've had in Lafayette! The food is amazing, authentic, and made with the freshest ingredients! The prices are beyond fair as well! All around great experience and will be returning again and again!!
Sam Matta
Great Great Food. I have had Mexican food a lot of places that are known for it (San Antonio, El Paso, Albuquerque, Phoenix) and this rates as some of the best i have ever had. and the service was great as well. all around a great experience.
Nicole
Love it. My husband is a picky eater. Not because he doesn't enjoy food but because he can't eat spicy food. I'm very hesitant to go out of the box when it comes to eating out. I heard good things about La Pagua so we headed over. It was Great! Not spicy but flavorful. The tortilla soup is amazing. As was the fajitas. But by far the fish tacos take the show.
