We had a large birthday party (22 guests) we reserved a hibachi and everything was ready when our party arrived. Our chef was funny and cooked our food perfect. Everyone had a great time, the only thing that could have been better would have been having 2 waitresses because 1 for that many people was too much.

I really like this place, I love the house soup! So much flavor in such a delicate little dish. I also enjoyed my steak bento box. The fried veggies are great and the steak was tender and juicy. The rice and noodles were delicious and I also loved the little dumpling and sushi samples. Pretty good value also. Will be coming back for sure

Really delicious!! My bestie and I went as she's never had hibachi style food before. She was in for a delicious treat! Our food came out super delicious and we were able to enjoy conversation. I got the chicken teriyaki box which did not disappoint. Would definitely come back here again.

Reviewing sushi side of the restaurant. The atmosphere is not the greatest as it can be a bit noisy. However the staff is super friendly and attentive. And the food is good. I would recommend getting sashimi here.

My boyfriend took me here on my birthday never been there before that and let me tell you the food was absolutely amazing tasted fresh and the inside is nice and clean the customer service was excellent they definitely know how to treat there customers and will be coming back

Tokyo Steakhouse offers delicious sushi and hibachi. Whether you go by for lunch or dinner, you always get friendly service. The decor is relaxing with the dim lights and little indoor aquarium.

I came in with my family to meet in the middle between sushi and hibachi. The sushi menu has all your regulars and they have a good assortment of house rolls. The facility was clean and quiet. <br/><br/>The fish was super fresh and cut thick. <br/><br/>I will dine here again!!

The food is decent....BUT we had made a hibachi reservation for 18 people for 8:00 and didn't get seated until 9:00! The hostess seated two walk-ins before us! She didn't offer any apologies, but instead tried to blame us by claiming that not all of our party had arrived when we told them that upon walking in at 7:55. We were offered no discounts of any sort for the screw up either. I will not fault the wait staff or hibachi chef, however I cannot say that I will be in a hurry to have hibachi here again anytime soon!

I dont understand all the great reviews. The sushi was some of the worst I've ever had! Not cut properly, not sauced adequately, plating was boring, service mediocre, price outragous, three people shared 4 rolls all order water $15 each before tip we all left hungry.

Every time I visit my boyfriend in New Iberia, we're always sure to go visit. We had visited another place in Lafayette, it wasn't that great, but took him here and he loved it.

This is hands down my favorite place to eat I love doing birthday here and the food is so good...... and the severs is alway fast and does a great good and alway very friendly

I really enjoy their fried rice. My favorite thing to get is the hibachi bento box which is available on their lunch menu. It's a taste of everything, shumai dumplings, California roll, hibachi fried rice, shrimp tempura, veggies tempura, noodles with veggies and your choice of protein. So yummy! They also have a good deal on their lunch menu for sushi. Highly recommended!

The only Japanese Hibachi place we go to in town! Always have had great service and the quality of the food is excellent! Hibachi and Sushi are both great!

Very nice restaurant. Very small and quaint. Can be loud sometimes through the hibachi room but nice otherwise. Dinner time you get a lot of food, lunch portions rather small. Would definitely recommend to a friend!

Nice place and best sushi in the town . The hibachi is so much fun for my family.  My boy like the fried rice and the hibachi show. They did great job. The server is very nice. We will come back.

First off I want to say I immensely enjoyed every time I have been to Tokyo!! The sushi is well priced for the quality of food and the portion size. If you want great quality sushi then Tokyo is the place to go. If you want very cheap price sushi with mediocre quality then go else where! The ambiance is very inviting and warm and the service is top notch! Thanks to the staff, I will be dining in again very soon!!

We love Tokyo! We come for lunch about once a week. If it's hibachi or sushi, the food is always fresh. Even if you come during the lunch rush, the service is great and quick.

The food was great and the service excellent. I'm very picky about how my meat is cooked and the cook got it just right. The flavor was amazing and all of the staff were very attentive.

We love this place.  It is our favorite place to eat hibachi.  We go on Saturdays for lunch.  Great service and food.  We like the selection and the ability to order off of the lunch menu or the dinner menu.

This is my favorite place. The sashimi is delicious, nicely priced, and the portions are huge! I eat here once a week! Emma always makes surely order is perfect!

I've been coming here since they opened and I have NEVER had a problem. Food is amazing and fits my palette just right! I've tried other hibachi restaurants and this is still hands down my favorite. I come here quite often for lunches because the pricing is very good for what you get and its perfect travel from school. I highly recommend to anyone.

My only sushi stop!. I absolutely love the hibachi. The man who does the hibachi entertains kids, adults, and even babies. He's a very polite man and he cooks the food very well. I got the shrimp hibachi and the shrimp were huge, he gave me a huge portion of noodles and fried rice, the miso was AMAZING and our drinks were refilled almost right once we finished them. I also ordered a Super Cajun Roll and it came out amazing as always. The waiter that I usually get is also very polite and always makes sure everything is going well. Every time I make a visit they never disappoint. I couldn't complain if I wanted to, the place is absolutely beautiful and the service is great. The price for 5 people at the hibachi, 2 rolls, the love boat my friend ordered, and ice cream was around 100. I think $20 is pretty reasonable for the amount of food I got. I almost wasn't able to fit all the leftover food in my to-go box! I also tried the mystery sushi on my friend's love boat (random roll every time) and I was blown away. I sadly didn't remember to ask the waiter what kind it was but it was amazing! Basically, I recommend this hibachi over anything. The shrimp one is only $22 and you get the shrimp, miso, salad, fried rice, vegetables, and noodles.

FOOD WAS HORRIBLE. I have eaten here a few times before and the food is usually pretty good. This was the first time I had gotten it to go, BAD DECISION. This place isn't exactly cheap, so you expect the food to be good even when getting it to go. I had gotten chicken and steak. They both were floating in a liquid that tasted what I assume to be lemon scented dawn. The smell of lemon was overwhelming not to mention it tasted horrible. After a few bites I threw mine away it was that bad. My wife had shrimp and chicken, which was also floating in about 2 inches of lemon stew. The shrimp was rubbery and not to mention the horrible taste of lemon was on everything..noodles, rice, you name it and it was full of lemon juice. We both ended up throwing that garbage where it belonged..and went pick up elsewhere. WILL NEVER AGAIN GET THE FOOD TO GO. AS EXPENSIVE AS THEY ARE YOU WOULD EXPECT BETTER. Guess we will go to Tokyo live from now on.

Bleached Dinner. We had a party of 9 persons sit down for sushi about 9:00pm on a Friday night (Tokyo closes at 11:00). The waiter took our drink orders and a few people ordered appetizers. Our drinks came over a period of five mintues but the waiter forgot to bring the appetizers that were ordered, so he put them in late. Which made them arrive during the main course... During this time, a woman came from the back of the restaurant with a bottle of bleach. She proceeded to pour straight bleach on the floors of the dinning room. The noxious fumes made people's eyes water and become irritated, along with our patience. The manager was called and she simply relocated us to a different table, along with the party next to us. This only help a little due to the over whelming odor of toxic chemicals in the air. Our food arrived and a few of us were missing side dishes, ordered sauces, and drinks. The waiter never refilled our drinks during the entire meal. The manager came by with waters for us but too little too late. The restaurant assessed a 20% tip and brought us our checks. I gladly paid my bill knowing that I would never have to dine at Tokyo again.

Very poor service and waitress had no knowledge of menu nor could she speak much English.ordered martini's and they were lukewarm with no sugared rims.tried a second one and was worse.when the people seated at our table left,the cleaner started spraying cleanser all over the table and was flying on our side. she picked up our plates before we were quit finished.will try another place next time.food was good but not the service nor bar.

Worst experience ever! I've never witnessed the greed of a restaurant like I did tonight. Valentines night I had reservations that I made 6 weeks ago. Get to restaurant 20 minutes early to only have to wait an hour(40 minutes after my reservation time). Then they squeeze 15 people around a hibachi table meant for 10! My kids and I had to look at the back of the chef the entire time. The table next to us only had 8! Both tables cooked the same amount of food but you can imagine my displeasure when that food was divided amongst 15 instead of the 8 next table over. Then they had the nerve to add 20% gratuity because it's Valentines Night! When I asked the hostess about my seating, her response was "you lucky you got a seat". Really???

Good sushi and nice place in town. Pepper Tuna Roll and pink laky Roll are very good!

I went eat here once and highly regret it. The playboy roll tasted like burnt oil. When I asked the waitress why it was so terrible she replied that it sometimes gets a burnt oil taste because of the way it is prepared. I will never waste my time or money here again. The manager was notified of the terrible taste and did nothing. I had to pay for dinner I couldn't even eat.

Nice decor and good food. Service is a bit uncoordinated. Hibachi grill area gets very noisy when crowded. The quality and freshness of ingredients bring this place to a higher level than most other sushi-grill-Asian restaurants in the Lafayette area. Recommend tuna grill, filet grill, and fatty tuna sushi for a real treat.

Not that great. Very small .... Not that great. Very small<br/>Portions for the amount of money spent. Food was okay but not as good as some other hibachi places I've been to. I did like the atmosphere and interior. It is a nicely decorated place with a nice fountain.

Great Food, Service Needs Work. We eat at this restaurant every week and love the food. It's always fresh and there are some great servers at this restaurant. That being said, there are other servers that need to be taught some common courtesy. During our last visit, our service was flawless until we got out check. We paid in cash. The server owed us dollars and 52 cents. We received the dollars and no change. The server took it upon himself to take our change. No matter if it's two cents or 52 cents, it's stealing money that was owed to us. While we tipped the server, it was about half of the 18% we normally tip. As a former server myself, I have never felt it was my right to take someone else's money or ask if the customer needed change. I would bring it all back and allow the customer to make the decision of what he or she should do with their money.

Foods good but not a lot of food. They give you children's portion of rice.

First Try. We enjoyed it. The atmosphere is cool & quiet. The prices are fair. The pink panther roll was delicious. I made a Happy Plate! I will return to try more items.

Good addition to sushi scene. This place used to be a Bennigan's. I thus was not expecting much in terms of atmosphere. But they've done a great job of updating / remodeling. It's a nice place with an updated atmosphere - both regular tables and nice hibachi area. And the sushi is really good. This place now ranks among my 2-3 favorite places for sushi in Lafayette.

Once you get past the loud obnoxious piano player in the front door you stand at hostess station never to be acknowledged that you would like to sit and possibly order. Once you finally get noticed it still takes a while to be seated then the wait staff has no knowledge of their menu. The food is not worth mentioning. Won't be coming back!!

Pleasantly surprised. The service was just okay especially for a Sunday at 1:30pm it took a while to get just the drinks but seemed to improve throughout lunch. My husband had the noodles and I had the sushi both we very good. The decor was impressive and overall I would definetly recommend.

Smothers Tokyo Live. This place is new, fresh, clean. First off, I read some of the reviews and people complaining of some of the staff not speaking English. I say "Good" . That means it will be close to authentic. This place is not run by your local dimwit kids like Tokyo Live. The crew is professional. The food was excellent and of course like any good Jap. steakhouse there will be a little wait which is also good for me. Gives me a little time to get my bearings and take it all in with a little wine or spirits. See, I go for the pleasure of dining, I don't liked to be rushed when I go to a place like this. I want to relax. converse, laugh, and watch my little one ah at the flames. Creating memeories is what is fun; and this place was a good time! So enjoy, Lafayette it is not Japan, but is is a little taste of it.. minus the fresh whale and tiger penis.

Good food, good prices. The hibachi includes noodles, like a lo mein style noodle. The decor is nice. We went on a week night for dinner, so there was no wait. A lot of the reviews on here say that the service is bad, but our waitress was super attentive-- she even watched the hibachi show from a distance in case we needed refills or finished a course (cleared dishes instantly but politely). I think other reviewers may have had a longer wait when the restaurant was brand new? Altogether a great dinner and I do recommend you try it yourself.

Nice atmosphere and beautiful inside. The service was fast and very friendly. I was even checked on by others to see of I was helped already and again to see how I liked what I was eating. Very please with the service. I had the Hawaiian roll, the pepper tuna roll, and the New Iberia roll and enjoyed them all. The pepper tuna was extremely fresh and the new Iberia roll was a rare time I get a cooked roll but it sounded so good I had to try it. Glad I did.

The food was really, really good. I got the tempura udon and my husband got the chicken katsu. It was fresh and hot with reasonable prices. 45 for dinner for two with appetizer and dessert. The atmosphere was also lovely. My singular complaint is that it takes FOREVER for the food to arrive. We were ther almost 2 hours. On a Tuesday evening... infer what you will.

THE WORST SERVICE EVER, we were served frozen scallops at the bar and then the manager argued with us about it till I made her literally stick her finger in the scallop to believe me! I'll never go back.

Best udon and soba in the city. When I first came, I order something hot--the tempura udon. Now, this is a big risk since no restaurant around here takes Japanese food seriously if it's not sushi or hibachi. Most of them do stuff like use regular ol' instant ramen, and you can usually make better by going to World Market.<br/>But when it came to my table, I was STUNNED. My boyfriend was so jealous--and now the both of us order one of the noodle soup bowls every time we come. It's the closest to the actual Japanese dish I've ever seen. It even has kamuboko--which I still don't know how to find in the states. It's the ultimate comfort food. You might as well go slap yo' Momma, because her soup just got told. PLEASE go there and try it! Maybe the other Japanese restaurants will know that they can't just throw extra Japanese items on the menu and expect it to fly. You won't regret it! I've been to every Japanese restaurant in town and then some!

Reservations or No Reservations. Called to make reservations for two for dinner on Valentines Day...were told they do NOT make reservations. Arrived at 7:30 for dinner and were told that there was a 30 to 45 minute wait, then asked if we had made reservations...When we replied that we were told they dont take reservations they informed us that no reservatons are made for party of just 2. NOW, how many people go as a GROUP to dinner on Valentines Day??? VERY BAD 1ST IMPRESSION, TOKYO. Will NEVER eat there are recommend to anyone!!!

Horrible service, we decided on the habachi, a couple there 15 minutes before us hadn't even got their drinks yet. The waiter spent the whole evening talking about how he hated his boss, made us very uncomfortable. The food wasn't that great. Save your money!!

Food was amazing and the hospitality of the workers there were great. I ordered a squid salad, & thanks to sushi chef Hung, I wasn't given what was the actual menu item of a squid salad. I assumed their squid salad was like any other sushi restaurant, but it's not; it's raw. So if you get a squid salad (& prefer it cooked), just make sure to specify that :) - prices are also good for the amount & quality of the food you receive. $55 for a dinner for two, with tip included & leftovers to take home!

Brought my 11,4 and 3 year old kids and a few friends with their kids. Everyone loved it. Great atmosphere, terrific food. Waitress and hibachi chef were extremely friendly with the kids. We had a great time and look forward to returning.

I have eaten at this restaurant twice, and both times the food was amazing! I absolutely love sushi and consider myself a sushi critic (I have eaten at all sushi rest in Lafayette) and this experience was amazing!!! Both times that i have gone have been amazing. The sushi chefs always gave me on the house appetizers. I wanted something spicy so they invdnted a new roll for me. Very nice place, great atmosphere, good prices. Id be happy to go back again

Well Tokyo is a more scale place with a low price. Food was great. I spent $24 for lunch, including a cold beer. Will come again

Just opened so I gave it a try. Nice atmosphere, knowledgable chef, inexpensive and good sushi. Chef added apples to my rainbow roll and I would go back for it.

I walked in, was immediately seated after being asked if I wanted a table or hibachi, and couldn't stop looking around in amazement. This place is somewhat traditional in its Far East Asian design, but with a massive modern influence. I couldn't believe how stunning the place was.
