Review Norma's Red Rooster Restaurant - La Pine

What a wonderful find in La Pine. This mom and pop dinner is right on highway 97 and it's like stepping into grandma's house. The farm decor and poultry in various form displayed proudly in the simple and homey dinning area. The food is classic greasy spoon goodness. Breakfast was amazing all around. Hashbrowns perfectly done, chicken fried stake was exactly what I was looking for. Good food for a very reasonable price. Look out for the glass of milk! It's gigantic!

Great chef who understands meat and spices. We have been here three times the last six months and never disappointed! From burgers to chicken to homemade from scratch cheese cake.... This is a gem.

Never ever pass through La Pine without stopping at Norma's! Stopped on the way to Crater Lake with a party of 10. Service was fast and friendly with amazing food! Each of us had either breakfast or salads, with no complains from anyone, even the picky kids! The biscuits and gravy ($5) are amazing, and the salad ($8) is perfect for those trying to eat green. The portion size was huge for the cost, average price per plate was $5, which was extremely cheap for how good it was. Don't forget to take a picture with the giant rooster outside!

My wife and I went here to have a nice breakfast. We came here a couple months ago for the first time. This place is a cozy little cafe off of Highway 97 in Lapine Oregon. Both times we were here, we were greeted by Jamie with a smile. My wife had the Southwest omelette, and I had the Corned beef hash. The omelette was huge, and the corn beef was not out of a can, it was fresh. Jamie is so friendly and a great waitress. The home like atmosphere reminds me of my grandmas. The prices are very reasonable and the food portions are big. I recommend this little cafe to anyone who likes good food and great hospitality.

Loved our breakfast and the friendly locals. Best true-blue American dining experience - the corned beef hash magnificent and the omelet complete with taco meat, olives, peppers etc, was delicious and filling. Service relaxed and generous with bottomless coffee and great value! From the 2Aussies 😀🙏

Great place! Due to a slight miscommunication we had our cherry pie before our breakfast! Trust me, I'm not complaining! The pie was still warm and hit the spot! But for me, the real star was the corned beef hash. This is definitely made from scratch! It was amazing!

Try to stop here for breakfast every time I drive south to CA. Never disappoints. Old town feel and friendliness. Food is good and portions are generous at very reasonable cost. Just good oI'd fashioned food--nothing trendy. How refreshing in this day and age! Update 06/20. The business is permanently closing its doors. COVID-19 craziness help make the owners decision to retire once and for all. This restaurant will be sorely missed😞

I'm glad they're trying new things! I felt like I was in my Grandma's kitchen, friendly service, good quality American food, and priced well.I'll be 100% honest I have not gotten over there to try the new barbecue yet, so I'm looking forward to that, I have a feeling that I won't be disappointed, good luck! Thanks

I’d give five stars but this isn’t where I usually go for insults. My Bagpipe instructor is Scottish and he’s better at it than Norms Husband, Darrell. Had a great club sandwich and coffee. Was told that I wasn’t allowed to sit inside, but I think Darrell liked my wife so was allowed to eat inside. Had homemade Turkey soup with my sandwich. It was good, but the club sandwich was really good. My wife had the veggie burger and potato salad. That looked awesome too. We figure I must have done something to spin up Darrell, probably not opening the door for my wife, but not sure. Had a good time attempting to defend my manhood against Darrel. He let my wife know he works Mon,Wed,Fri. Flattery will get you anything, my wife gave a good review. I’m holding it to for stars as this isn’t where I usually go for abuse. But I expect better next time. I may bring my bagpipes.

Yum! Great mom and pop diner with fantastic home cookin'. If you're looking for a fancy place or a chain restaurant, this place is not for you. If you're looking for a great meal at an equally great price then do your taste buds and wallet a favor and check this place out!

The southwestern omelette was so good!! Cute little family owned place where the owner treats you like family!

Best kind of service. I came through La Pine about a year ago, and I still think about this cafe, so I'm writing a review now.

It's more than just the food (which was just what we were looking for from a breakfast cafe, I thin I had a fried fish sandwich and also included an incredible giant cookie with shredded carrot and all kinds of lovely ingredients, by the way.) There was an older gentleman serving behind the counter who absolutely made our day. I was passing through with my ex-girlfriend and he had the kind of social savvy to realize that we weren't getting along as well as we should. By making little jokes here and there, or picking on me in just the right kind of way, he cheered us both up and set us back on the road in good spirits so we could have a beautiful time in this most wonderful part of Oregon.

We came in hungry and annoyed with each other, and we left well-fed and laughing again. If I could write a perfect breakfast spot into a novel, this would be my model.

Pretty good place. If your passing through and looking for a local funky place with good food, look no more. they have limited electricity (yeah its that funky) so no hashbrowns or fries, bummer. if they could run an extension cord in there I'd be digging on the place more often.

Very friendly, kitshy cake, fresh home cooked food. Great pit stop for breakfast or sandwiches.
