Review Fortune Cookie Express - La Jolla

After our shopping trip we decided to get something to eat rather than cooking. Combo items ready pick are all meat. The only vegetarian item was tofu w/ vegetables (a la carte) and it took only few minutes to cook. The veggies were cooked to perfection, they melt in your mouth. White sauce was just enough, and it seasons the food enough (not too salty). The only thing was a piece of hair in the food. Maybe people in the kitchen should wear hair caps. The food was enough for family of 3.

This is freshly prepared food that is ready to go. Their chicken wings are some of the best that I have ever had . Get the 3 item combo, it is enough food for 2 people and it comes with a drink.

We've been buying from them since 1995, When they were called The Great Wall, for 99 cents per item. All the food is always great -- especially the fried chicken wings.

My husband was craving “Chinese Food”; and, I honored his request with three “3 Item Combos” and a dozen “Salt Pepper Wings”. We haven’t been here for years and was pleased with the service and delicious food. He loved the “Broccoli Beef” and wings. I loved the “Orange Chicken”, “Lo Mein” and rice. Thank you so much ☺️

Best food for the price anywhere! You can get a whole dinner for 4 for $40. And get the extra family size shrimp with it. It's so good! Family run. Closed on Sunday.

I recommend the garlic fried chicken wings, orange chicken, beef broccoli, and mushrooms chicken from the steam tray. Order from the kitchen (family size) I recommend the shrimp chop suey, shrimp and bean sprouts spicy, and kung pao shrimp. Don't forget to get a punch card for the combo meal.

The lady (owner) that serves the food is too slow. But other than that the place is good.

Good food and value. There was a bit of a wait and only take out due to covid right now but was worth it. I had the orange chicken with half and half rice and low main.

Good portion sizes. Really good food, very flavorful - I had the chow mein, orange chix and pepper beef (and fountain Pepsi)

Best Chinese food in the area in my opinion always get combo #5 bbq pork fried rice very good but it does take a bit to make i recommend add a few spoon fulls of bbq sauce when it's done gives it that extra savory taste that u didn't know u wanted

This is a family owned restaurant that provides excellent customer service. I have eaten the food from Fortune Cookie Express for over 20 years and the flavor and quality of the food has not changed. They have the best Orange Chicken; no other restaurant in San Diego comes close to it. My favorite items are the Garlic Chicken Wings (always crisp) and the Thai Curry Chicken Breast with the sauce poured over white rice. My recommendation is to try the "cook to order" items which can be made hot and spicy upon request. Also, if you're a soup person the Chow Ma Soup hot and spicy is delicious. It is my go to item when I'm a bit under the weather. This restaurant has catered events for me and everyone always loves it and goes in for second and sometimes 3rd servings. This is an eatery I suggest you try.

As a first time customer, we got the family meal and received huge portions of a variety of dishes leaving us with plenty of leftovers - great value! Very fast and friendly service on top of the delicious food. Workers were wearing masks and there was sufficient plexiglass to separate them from customers. Easy to get in and out of the restaurant and shopping center.

As a first time customer, everything is beyond my expectation and way better than Panda Express. Their orange chicken and Thai curry chicken are my favorite. So delicious! I will definitely come back more often!

For a cafeteria style Chinese restaurant it is so good and you get good sized portions. Their garlic wings are to die for! I've always been happy with my choices there. They also sell fortune and almond cookies as well as chili sauce. Good prices too.

This place is really good, they have a selection of Chinese restaurant staples available in one two or three(I think) entree plates with fried rice or low mein, as well as made to order food if you want. The fried chicken wings are very tasty as well, pretty much my families favorite wings in SD. I def recommend this place.
