Review Duke's La Jolla - La Jolla

Casual, good food, nice atmosphere with amazing waitstaff. You can’t go wrong here. If you are looking for a casual good time with good food and drinks this is your spot! If you like calamari I highly recommend theirs and also the hummus. My two favorite appetizers. Lots of good main course options also and don’t forget dessert - they typically have key lime pie also but it’s the Hola pie for me every time!

Duke's restaurant in La Jolla is a must-visit in San Diego. The combination of delectable food and breathtaking views makes it a standout spot. I highly recommend trying the Hula Pie for dessert – an absolute delight that will leave you thanking me later. Overall, a fantastic dining experience deserving of five stars.

Cool place with a great view. Menu was very focused and everything looked delicious. Honestly very difficult to pick. Everyone was pleased with their lunch. They do have a kids menu to keep the little ones happy. Our picky 7 year old was very happy. Beer list was excellent. All local offerings. Service was also excellent. Waiter was very nice and attentive.

Wow, having spent 10 days in SD we found La Jolla cove and Dukes on our last day... It is safe to say it was so good we are already planning our next trip from Scotland to San Diego! The food here was incredible, in a very cool restaurant, with great views... And it was phenomenal value compared to other restaurants in San Diego. It was all fresh and super tasty. We had the hurricane chicken, the burger, and the pulled pork and they were all superb. If your are anywhere near La Jolla... Don't miss Dukes! You may have to wait for a table, but it is most definitely worth the wait. Shout out to Claire who was our brilliant server on the day!

Wonderful food and drinks. The view from the patio was beautiful. They were very accommodating with small kids. The friendliest waitress. Highly recommend

The last time we went to a Duke’s was in Waikiki back in 2009 and it was great! We recall enjoying amazing local fish, so when booking a trip to LaJolla, we reserved lunch here, hoping for some great fish again! When making the reservation, I requested the patio, overlooking the ocean and the staff didn’t disappoint when we got there… the views were beautiful on the sunny day we visited for lunch! The place quickly packs up and the deck is the first to get booked, so make reservations! (Don’t be like these two young girls we watched move from the back to the rail area to have the best view, when they didn’t reserved it and then argue with staff when they got caught… the actually argued in front of the customers who were about to be seated there as they stood there refusing to move! RIDICULOUS!) The menu for lunch is nice… they offer normal seafood dishes you’d expect, plus many Hawaiian dishes, which all sounded so great, it was hard to decide. We opted for their grilled swordfish and fish tacos. The swordfish was perfectly prepared (tho the sauce was slightly salty) and the pasta salad that came with it was great! The tacos were mahi and they tasted soooo good! Nice, fresh fish with an amazing slaw – yum! Our drink simply consisted of their ice tea, which they put a hint of mashed passion fruit in and it tasted sooo good! Clarissa was our server and she was attentive, friendly, and helpful! Definitely would suggest coming here! But please make reservations!

This was my first time at this Dukes. I’ve ate at a different restaurant in Hawaii. It’s been quite a while since I’ve taken one in, but they did not disappoint. I went with the fish and chips, others had the macadamia nut hummus, and the Kalua pork sandwich. Everybody really loved their meals, the waiter was very good and attentive. We sat inside, but the popular places to be outside where you’re next to the water you may need to make reservations for that.

If you visit La Jolla, this is a must to visit place. The food was absolutely delicious and the ambiance was great. I had no complaints whatsoever👌 If you are visiting Cali and specifically SD, you probably guess that it's pricey. So, still it's a friendly warning that this is an expensive restaurant.

WOW, the food was amazing. Really good food. Staff was really nice and recommended dishes. Highly recommend making reservations and request a table on the patio by the glass ledge with the ocean view! Recommend calamari and crab wontons. Parking is located next to the restaurant. It’s $40 to park your vehicle. Get there early parking is limited.

We ordered: Ribs & Chicken - Ribs were not fall off the bone and chicken was a little dry. Macnut & herb fish - very delicious, the plate was very large for the portion, I did feel full after just thought it was a funny site Resiling - my favorite wine. This one was scrumptious We had reservations and sat outside. They have heat lamps and the temperature was perfect Our waiter James kept our waters full and was very attentive. The reason they did not receive a 5 star review is due to them only having 2 stalls in the ladies bathroom. This large of a location should have more than 2 stalls. Also only one sink and one spout for water but two hand drying stations. Very odd setup. Cleanliness of the bathroom was not the best and one of the menus we received had something sticky on it.

Amazing!!! The food.... the service and the view was all outstanding!! One of the best dining experiences my husband and myself have ever had in our 22 years together!!! We had the best seats on the patio and we never wanted to leave!!! You 100% have to go and sit on their patio!!

The worst. Other then a great view, I have nothing good to say about this restaurant. I spent 15 years of my life managing dinner houses and the lack of training and customer care was staggering. We watched people seated after us, and who ordered after us get their meals ahead of us, we were a party of 5. My youngest daughter ordered a side of potatoes with her French Toast. They brought a bowl of potatoes out 20 minutes before the entrees. I asked the waitress what the delay of our order was. She had a bit of an attitude and said that the kitchen was slammed and working hard. A summer Sunday in La Jolla? Were they not expecting to be busy? My oldest daughters Eggs Benedict was cold, but she had waited so long, she didn't want to return it. Some plates got cleared others did not. The waitress attempted to make amends and had two of our drinks comped. As it was my oldest daughters birthday she said they would comp a dessert as well. Twenty minutes later, still with uncleared dishes on our table and the dessert no where in sight. I asked for the check, to which the server seemed annoyed. Which was a fitting end to this frustrating experience. I will not return.

Food, drinks, and atmosphere was excellent. Just a bit slow in bring the check - but the - Again the view of the ocean was worth the wait. Totally recommend it!

We call for a reservation and we’re told they didn’t take them and that if we showed it would be 20-30 minutes for a table. Ha! We sat at the bar area and got great service from the bar staff but an hour and a half later still no table no view and no dinner. Finally they wanted to seat us in a corner booth which looked like it could sit 4 comfortably and we were 6 so jam in there like sardines. We opted to have dinner at the bar and were treated to a comp dessert from the manager “Derrick”. All and all with the pretentious hostess and the disappointing wait time and inaccurate information given we will probably just go to George’s or another restaurant in town. Great ambience though

I had the Mai Tai which was really good. We shared the coconut shrimp and they were tasty and cooked perfectly. The sauce was a little runny though. We also shared the Black Bean Nachos with the pulled pork and that was super good. Definitely get a Mai Tai here and the pork nachos!!! Service was a tad disappointing but the food, booze and ocean view made up for it.

Best meal I’ve had so far during my week-long trip. Excellent food preparation and gorgeous ocean views. Highly recommend

It was OK. Expensive for a happy hour. Service wasn’t that great..... calamari was awful. Ceviche was yucky! View was just Ok. Obstructed by roof of lower floor. I expect more when I’m paying so much!!! Won’t be back. Much better food and service at Coasterra and World Famous.
Dan Ferguson McNiel
You’re paying for the view, because for equal prices in La Jolla you can get arguably better food. Service and all was good.
Susan Stepanski
The food, ambiance and view were amazing. Try the calamari! They have a special plate for each day of the week that's only $10! That's right, $10 in La Jolla! I look forward to a return trip. Best waitstaff ever.

Great view! Great good! Great drinks and great company! I ordered the poke tacos and was glad I got a salad to go with them. They’re tiny! But super delicious! We’ll be back!

Surfer Hawaiian style decor blends well with SoCal. The food was very good and the view of the cove is amazing

The view was amazing. The hostess and staff were extremely friendly and the experience overall was memorable. Will definitely be there next time I'm in La Jolla...
