The owner was very friendly, we ordered a cheese sandwich and it was perfectly toasted. The variety of candy was good too, Lion bars, Mars bars, maltasers. Haven’t seen those candies here in the US in a long time. I will definitely go back.

I will recommended this place to anyone in the San Deigo area. The owner is amazing, his toys are amazing, his stories are even better. Exceptional food! Just down from the beach! It doesn't get much better. If there was a 10 they would get an 11! I will be back again.

If you like a solid deli sandwich cheese shop is a great place to check out. They have a great selection of styles to choose from along with most any type of candy, or soda as well. I have been here many times and have always left satisfied. Just be careful about enjoying your sandwich on the beach, seagulls will dive bomb you for them.

It's called cheese shop but it's really a sandwich shop. They got a lot of sandwiches on the menu so I'm sure you'll find something that you'll like. They are known for the turkey sandwich which is what I got. It was delicious, the turkey was really flavorful and the vegetables were all really fresh. I have also tried the breakfast sandwiches here and they are to die for. The breakfast sandwich was served on everything bagel with eggs sausage and avocado. We came here with a group of four and we were quickly helped and our sandwiches came out within about 15 to 20 minutes. That wasn't too bad of a wait considering they were busy. There's not much eating area here other than a few tables out in the front but you're next to the beach so you can just take it over to the nearest table and have a nice lunch next to the water. Parking is available on the streets but they are pretty hard to find since we are next to the beach.

100/10 rating!! I got a cold cut Club Sandwich after the La Jolla kayaking... exactly what I needed!!! The sandwich was delicious... the Swiss cheese was so fresh. The sandwich was even better with the side of pickle. Mr. Dave was such a sweet man.. great hospitality and service. He even served us warm homemade oatmeal cookies. Can’t wait to go back!!!

Cannot say enough how fantastic the service through to food execution is at this shop. On my first encounter, ordered 10+ sandwiches for a group of friends at La Jolla Shores Beach and the owner had someone from the shop walk down and meet us for an impromptu delivery. I go out of my way for their sandwiches when in the area, and their deviled eggs are not to be missed! Feel so welcome here, on each occasion have been greeted by either the owner or a friendly worker.

Cheese shop is the GOAT when it comes to fresh sandwiches and a wide assortment of rare candies and sodas. Been coming here since my grom days and it’s just as good as I remember. Got the Turkey Jack Avo Sando and was beyond pleased, refreshed, and satisfied. Cheese Shop is a true institution of LJ and I wish it many more decades of success!

I’ve been waiting to make a trip here from a recommendation. I was at drs appt at Ucsd and had a couple hours to kill until next appointment.
Upon arriving I was expecting to throw some elbows to find parking but somehow found a spot within stones throw as soon I arrived.
I got a sarsaparilla soda and Compromised with the wife to split a NY special on rye & Soupensalad, wish I got the mortadella though. Went around 11 on a Friday and found plenty of seating outside! We enjoyed our lunch spread and with the street was closed off it made the atmosphere more chill!
