Staff was very sweet and welcoming. Clean restaurant, older (if you read on this restaurant you'll know how old!) But the food was mostly all fried. If you like fried food you'll love this place!! If you're looking for a cleaner menu, they do offer soups and salads!

Out of lemons? Out of French dressing? Don't offer milk for kids? Maybe you should charge more than $34 for your filet mignon. Our waitress was excellent though.

Location is off the beaten path, about 6 miles from Weimer and 13 miles from La Grange. This is a 100+ year old General Store that's been converted into a restaurant and dance hall. Only open Thursday - Saturday for dinner and Sunday's for lunch. The screen doors as you enter remind you of days gone by as do the latches on the bathroom doors. The have a good selection of wines and beers and the food reminds you of Grandma's cooking. Look up on the chalk boards on the wall to see what soups, sides and desserts are being served. The chicken fried steak is delicious as was everything we tried. A must try is the Sausage Sauerkraut Balls and if you like yellow squash - the squash casserole will hit the spot. The prices are reasonable and the service is good. The owner swings through the dining room ever so often to make sure her guests are being taken care of. It looks like she oversees the kitchen as well. Almost forgot, the Buttermilk Pie is just like Grandma's too, crust and filling! Enjoy & Bon Appetit! 😊

Really good food. Try the Chicken Fried Bacon from the appetizers. The Chicken Fried Steak is a choice of small or large ... The small covered half the plate. Nice selection of sides, but no baked potato. Dining room gets quite noisy when full. Waitresses are attentive and friendly, even when very busy. The building itself was a country store on one side and a beer joint on the other side when I was a child. My sister and I always got a root beer on our way to visit our grandparents.

The food here is excellent. Anyone who hasn't eaten here is missing out. This restaurant is a local favorite. I ordered the seafood platter for the first time and it was very good. There was enough for two meals!

The place is a hidden gem out in the middle of no where!! It is definitely a country place. We made reservations, but we were told they weren't necessary. Talk about home cooking!! There were 5 of us older ladies (60-87) and we were having a hard time figuring out what to order as none of us wanted a big meal, but every plate that came out to other customers made us drool!! We all ordered from the kiddie menu as that allowed us to eat smaller amounts of food since we had had a late lunch. My Mom enjoys catfish and has eaten it at lots of restaurants. She said this was the best catfish she had EVER had. Right as we finished ordering a plate of onion rings came out to a customer and they looked so good, so we called the waitress back to order onion rings. They were awesome, light and crispy and not greasy at all. Two of the ladies ordered vegetable plates because there was such a big variety of homemade vegetables. They were NOT disappointed. The waitress was so sweet, got every order correct and kept our drinks filled. Then came birthday dessert for our 87 year old Mom. She ordered cheesecake. This was a huge slice of cheesecake, plenty for all 5 of us to enjoy. It was delicious, light and flavorful. They even put a candle in it for Mom and sang to her. Everyone, workers and customers were so fun and friendly. Definitely worth going.
