I had the opportunity to dine at the Whiskey Pig last night. Ordered the beef brisket with a side of sauce that was rich with flavor. The loaded mashed potatoes was infused with butter, sour cream, ranch, sea salt, pepper and garnished with dill (I think), honey vinegar glazed carrots served whole and a wonderful yeast roll.My children had the Asian BBQ chicken wings with the loaded potatoes. We couldn't eat it all, had to take it home. The meal was savory. we enjoyed every bite. The server was most conscientious and could hold a good conversation ( He is 12) He never let our drinks get low, or our table be cluttered. This was a well deserved treat. Thank you all for making it such a relaxing dinner.
My family stopped in today and between us we tried the roast beef and cheddar with hand cut fries and the smoked pork plate. Everything was delicious and the quality was excellent. On top of that, the staff was awesome! We will definitely be back!
This is definitely my new lunch spot! I had the pulled chicken tacos and mac and cheese and everything was delicious! That was the best mac and cheese that I have ever had at any eatery ever! If you haven't tried this place you are definitely missing out!
This place is AMAZING! The staff is the friendliest and nicest as to be expected here in downtown Kinston. We live in New Bern and frequent Kinston often. We have been waiting with high expectations for Whisky Pig to open and they did not disappoint. If you have a bad experience here then it is your own fault. The food was very tasty and the price is expected as the ingredients are farm raised. Please come by and enjoy their ever changing menu.
This place rocks!! Staff and food are excellent. Everything farm fresh and a great variety of foods!! We will def be back!! Thank you for a great experience!!
Great food and meats! Love how the deli menu varies everyday depending on what's in season. What a great shop to open up in Kinston!
The employees are extremely personable and so helpful. Tried a bbq sandwich and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to try the bacon I picked up.
We got the weekly meal for $35 and it was great! We are going to have to do it every week!
Purchased a Heart shaped Ribeye for my Valentine. Grilled to perfection and I must say it was delicious. I can truly taste the difference in the cut of meat vs that of the supermarkets meats. Well done my good friends.
I've been waiting for the Whiskey Pig to open!! I was so excited to be able to be there for opening day! We had a big crew with us for lunch and they never missed a beat! I bought sausage, the one with the sage and spices in it, my family loved it! I can't wait to get back! I love that the lunch menu changes daily! Everything about it was great, from the team to the food!!! The fact you can get lunch and grab meat for dinner it nice. I like the fact they sell other local "mom-n-pop" products too!
I bought some lamb sausage and some homemade hotdogs. Both were awesome, and their selection is amazing. I can’t wait to go back!
Super fast service in a casual atmosphere with exceptional food. Delicious juicy cheeseburger was made with high quality beef. Superb Brisket sandwich was rich and smoky with a side of cool creamy slaw. Sides menu was inventive; want to try one of everything!
Hey guys and girls. If you are in Kinston and you’re craving some good barbecue, you have found the perfect place. Whiskey Pig Craft Butchery and Deli are the real deal. I’ve eaten barbecue from cost to cost and I can say this place is unbelievable. The food was awesome service was spectacular. The first time coming will definitely be back when I am back in town.
GREAT NEWS!! I ordered three Chicken Pot Pies, asked not to put pepper in them, well, we're on our second pie and they are so DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not sure who actually makes them, but they are GREAT, thank you.
I have never been to Kinston, but...I do go to the Raleigh Farmer's Market and religiously get the Chicken Pot Pies. I love them, but the other day I got one with ALOT of pepper, I cannot handle regular pepper. And, I cannot take it out of the pie. When people get home with their pot pie they can put as much pepper on theirs as they want...I have asked to order three without any pepper, so I don't have the problem I had last time. The pastry is sweet, and the inside is SOOOOOOOO good, it doesn't need pepper, you lose the flavor.
Your meat is great, my husband LOVES ribeye, and I do the filet mignon, both are GREAT!!
I've already asked about ordering, so I'm just waiting to see if they will be there next Saturday....hint...my birthday is tomorrow and I turn 65 years young...
I liked the pulled pork plate, very good. The pork was just too salty for me but I use salt on nothing. The fried okra and cowboy baked beans will be the main reason I'll return. Though the sweet potato casserole is a draw as well. The slaw is excellent, know it's mayo base. Obviously, though it's a butcher shop, special attention is paid to the sides as well. Don't let the gruff personally of the butcher, mentioned in other reviews, keep you from trying his pork. He just comes across that way but he truly seems to want you happy with your experience. (My opinion, I don't know him personally) He's probably just persnickety. That's what makes his food so delicious. A curious thought; because of the name, I expected a pub or micro distillery on site but no. Maybe it's the secret ingredient in the rub?
They only have burnt ends every other week so plan your trip to the Whiskey Pig accordingly! All the sides are amazing, the food was prepared fresh and prompt. Bring a cooler and take fresh cut meats home.
Great BBQ and Ribeye Brisket sandwich. Visiting Kinston for the weekend and stopped by for lunch. Friendly staff, clean inside, and great food. Highly recommend!
Extremely helpful friendly people! Was such a pleasant experience! Fresh from the farm meat ! This is my go to place for meats from here on out.
I’ve had a lot of bbq in a lot of places. Whiskey Pig rates right up there. Have a plate and take some home. The selections are varied, the people are gracious, and Kinston is trying to reinvent itself. Help them by eating some really good bbq

Pork chop & Milissa are so nice. Bought a few New York strips from the butcher. Best meat to ever touch my taste buds!!!
I was there today with my daughter .. I had read a previous review from about a week ago and was concerned but considering other reviews this seemed out of sorts.. So we tried it for ourselves ..
I ordered the Brisket platter with fried okra and loaded potato ... My daughter got the chicken salad sandwich and we got an extra side of squash casserole ..
I have lived in Texas many years so I know brisket and this was very VERY good .. The sauce was perfect ... The potatoes and okra were awesome (it was WHOLE fried okra ) YUM !
My daughter's said her sandwich was SO good ...perfectly made and the squash casserole was perfect !
I am not sure where the other person ate ..but must have been somewhere different.. Several were in there eating ..We all knew how to order and what to do..no confusion at all and the staff was pleasant..helpful and friendly ..We will be back for sure ..so many thing I still want to try !!!
Thank you for a wonderful lunch !!
Big portions, really good pricing, and the food was delicious! We had the Brisket Plate and the Pork Plate. For one of your sides, definitely get the beans!
We had a pork and a brisket sandwich, each with a side of mac and cheese. Both were very good. The employee who helped us was very friendly. Reason for 4 stars is didn't care for the amount of bbq sauce on the sands. Would have been better served on the side. It hid the flavor of the delicious meat. Portion size is also on the smaller side.
Visited from Jacksonville as there are next to no butchers around here. It was absolutely worth the drive. Many options for meat. On top of that, the food they serve is fantastic. Very friendly staff. Will be coming back!
Okay if you’re in Kinston, NC this is a 100% must try! Their food is all homemade and delicious! This is the best lunch food in Kinston, and it’s not even close. My wife had the Ribeye sandwich 10/10 and I had the Gobler a country take on an Amarican classic turkey sandwich 10/10. The sides where amazing! Pay the 1.50 and branch out past the fries. I had the Squash casserole and it did not disappoint. My wife had the loaded mashed potatoes. Stop in enjoy the atmosphere and great food.
Great spot to grab a bit to eat! Had the Blueberry Balsamic Turkey Sandwich with Fried Okra and Sriracha Ranch. Fresh ingredients and very tasty. Everyone else enjoyed their meal and raved about the Brisket! Highly recommended!
Exceptional customer service! We chose to have a late dinner this weekend and they had started the process of closing up for the night when we arrived. Chef Jason greeted us upon walking in and took care of us himself from seating to checkout, he is very personable & treats you like a friend. Everything was delicious and large portions we both had leftovers which made for great lunches. My partner had the surf and turf special with a very tender well seasoned ribeye perfectly cooked garlic shrimp. I had the Hawaiian Ham and Swiss at Chefs recommendation and I will definitely be getting it again, great balance of sweet & salty with enough cheese you could taste but not so much it overpowered the other flavors.
We've eaten here twice now, and also bought some lamb to take home which was excellent. Really lovely place. Good people, very welcoming, nice mix of customers. Highly recommend the deep fried okra. Will be back next time we're in town.
