They shuck the oysters for you! Mic drop!
The steamed peck of oysters was delicious. I also got the Nashville Hot fried brussel sprouts..... soooo good.
Overall food was good, as was the service. Good music and oyster were very good too.
Bloody Mary needs work, a bit boring when it comes to the yummy sides that normally come with a Bloody Mary, only came with 2 tiny slices of pickled jalapeños, boring for the price.
Average variety of beers on tap and bottle. Beer on tap was very cold but not the coldest I've had at other places.
Burgers are tasty, but patty was a bit small for price. Cooked well sides good.
Having been a big fan of "A Chef's Life" on PBS, when the opportunity to come to Kinston presented itself, there was no hesitation in planning a trip. The Boiler Room was warm and inviting on a chilly Thursday evening in December and our server wasted no time getting us a couple of different whiskey cocktails to go with pimento cheese and sausage dip with house made saltines and an order of hush puppies with two dipping sauces. That was followed by one of the Blended Burgers with fries and house made slaw and peel and eat shrimp with some of the most amazing Brussels Sprouts ever experienced. Banana pudding for dessert rounded out the evening. What a great meal.
I went here recently with my better half and had a great time. It's hard to put this restaurant into a category. It's pretty unique. It's an oyster bar, but it's just as known for it's top shelf burgers and appetizers. The atmosphere is laid back but there's enough historical touches and polish here and there to make it feel just a little fancy (in a good way). It's a Vivian Howard restaurant (she also owns the Chef and the Farmer across the street) so you know the food is exceptional. For example, you can expect to see burgers cooked to order with toppings like gruyere cheese and garlic aioli and sides like beef fat fries or poutine. This is definitely a foodie's kind of place, so the price is going to be closer to what you might expect for a burger at a steakhouse. But it's worth it. They also had an excellent draft list, a nice cocktail menu, and a solid looking whiskey bar. I can see this place as a weekly foodie excursion or a good spot for a relaxed date night. Definitely check this place out.
My wife and I split Hushpuppies and BR Blended Burger Project for lunch and both were decedent! The staff was very friendly and the experience was very enjoyable.
Great atmosphere. The food is amazing. Love the oysters. The homemade saltines are fabulous!
In love with their Caesar Salad in all its forms, I add grilled chicken and oyster croutons. Banana Pudding its a must have!
Very tasty. There's not many other places I'd eat raw oysters.
Absolutely AMAZING place! Drive over an hour to try this place and WELL WORTH the drive! Incredible food
