Kay's Place

Decent at best. What would I expect from a small diner off the highway in Ohio? No one rises to low expectations - unfortunately, this joint didn’t rise at all. Kay’s Place earned two stars because of the friendly and attentive wait staff. I started with a Cobb salad that seemed to lack proper toppings and portions. Albeit, it was a large serving it was underwhelming with flavor, lacked imagination and the chicken fried more and more each bite. This Cobb salad needs work, more blue cheese crumbles, tomato and bacon. For dinner, I made the mistake of ordering the “hand cut” Delmonico, decently seasoned and cooked to my liking. The meat seemed tough. The broccoli was likely frozen, microwaved and un-seasoned. The baked potato was fine. If you’re starving on the road, Kay’s place could provide salvation. Otherwise, keep going to the next town or order something deep fried.

We stopped in for lunch. We were seated right away. Our server was great, she was very attentive and super friendly. The menu was very large. We ordered and our food came out pretty quickly. I had a meatloaf sandwich, it was very tasty. I would have liked a little more gravy to drown everything, but that's a personal preference. Everyone was pleased with the food they received. We ordered monkey bread to take home. It is very good.

On Saturday night, a friend and I stopped in at a very busy time. The hostess and waitresses were very attentive to our need for a table. The service was excellent and impressive. The Delmonico Steak dinners were grilled exactly how we liked it. The selections are so good that it was hard to choose but the chef on another day, described the hand cut 10 oz. Delmonico in a way that you could almost smell and taste it before it came to the table. Everything is made from scratch and homemade, mashed potatoes and even the pies. The pie selections were very good and we finally settled on the Coconut Pie topped high with a meringue that made a typical creamy one nice and light. Enjoy the tastes of good home cooking here.
