It's good.... pricing and portions are good... The fried chicken was so so and the sweet corn looked and tasted straight from the can. The biscuits were great... The Mac and cheese was really good as were the fried pickles. The teriyaki chicken was good as was the hamburger steak. Service a little slow but it was busy ... The waitress did a good job keeping up with the tea and soda so I was fine with the initial slowness of being served.
Wife and I went to Steffens to eat breakfast. We had the Steffens Benedict and the country fried steak n’ eggs, food was great and the staff were nice and attentive they were working extra hard to serve everyone and keep the place clean. the place was full of people. They did a great job keeping everyone happy. Yes we will come back.
This small town mom and pop restaurant was really nice. Staff was very nice and everyone is more than willing to serve you regardless if they were your original server or not. Food was made to perfection. I have no complaints.
I ordered to-go food today and most of it was absolutely out of this world.
However I got the French toast and half of it was burnt, the other half wasn’t even browned. It was also incredibly dry and lacked flavor overall. Hoping maybe this was a fluke. Still a little disappointed as my friends all rant and rave about how fantastic this place is!
I will say, however, the biscuits and gravy as well as the chicago style hot dogs were absolutely fantastic!!!
This place is amazing. On a whim we stopped here for dinner before a Christmas train ride down the road. This is a small town diner serving some of the best southern food around. Everything was fresh and made from scratch. The service was fantastic and the food even better. Hamburger steak with gravy, mashed potatoes and collard greens were amazing. My wife had a chef salad that was fantastic! My parents had soup, cheese burger, fries and a BLT. Everyone was very happy with the food. If you are in the area you must stop in. This place is a hidden gem and we will be back very soon
On travel back to DC, we looked for an "in-town" family environment breakfast spot and found this sweet place. When I saw this house-like" building with tomato plants on the outside, I KNEW this would be a good spot to get some southern hospitality and good southern food. It did NOT disappoint. My food is pictured and hubby got the Flounder, collard greens and cornbread. Our server Carla was the sweetest and made us feel welcomed and special. Yep! This will be our stop whenever we are traveling between DC and Florida.
Get off I-95 if you’re passing through. This is your breakfast stop. Delicious food, friendly people, classic diner decor. Oh, they serve lunch too! Excellent biscuits and gravy. A breakfast burrito that serves 2 easily.
Authentic southern food at its finest. The collards are a little sweet, so it was unexpected, but still very good. This seems to be a local hot spot. Don't sleep on the hush puppies. They're delicious!
Excellent food and Service. Menu fairly extensive. Specials posted on the boards. Sat at booth. Food came fairly quickly, and was very good. Tables were colorful, Soda bar was cheerful, but could use a little update.
A great diner that makes great southern food, & fresh baked goods everyday. The onion rings are one of my favorites, and the fried flounder is cooked perfect every time. The service is friendly and always attentive. It is one of our family favorites and always consistent🥰
Great service, great atmosphere, exceptional comfort food! Guy Fieri needs to check this place out. I had the fried chicken and it took me back 30 years when my mom used to make it. It was awesome. Creamed corn and Mac and cheese also great! Had blackberry pie for dessert, it was awesome as well. Highly recommend. Only problem is... planning the timing of my route north from Florida to stop there again
When you’re in a small down on a weekday and the parking lot is full, you know it’s the place the locals like. This is that place.
Food was good, fast, and hot.
The way they cook their waffles is different, less fluffy and more structure. It’s hard to describe, but good!
We came to Steffan’s after a full day on Cumberland Island, so we were hungry and looking forward to a good, hearty meal.
SO glad we came! Both my friend and I commented that this was probably the best fried chicken we’d ever had. The jumbo shrimp were locally caught and lightly battered and fried. The fried mushrooms were hand battered. The collard greens were a delicious combination sweet and savory - with peppered vinegar on top, of course! And the banana cream pie - even with full bellies - was just amazing.
The crazy part? The prices! So affordable, with such quality, home cooking. And super friendly employees.
Only wish I lived closer so I could
Come back!
If you're visiting Coastal Southern Georgia, this is a great place to stop. A bit off the beaten track in Kingsland, this place has been around since the 1940s. We are staying a few miles away, and prefer local rather than chain restaurants while traveling. Steffen's does not disappoint! My husband likes some southern foods that I do not, and the reverse is also true. So he he had his fried gizzards, and I had my fried green tomatoes. There are nice salads to be had, too, and they serve breakfast all day. REAL BUTTER AND HALF-N-HALF on every table. 😋 Desserts are all house made, and we took a big slice of strawberry cake back to camp where we shared it. It was delicious!
Seafood Night!!!! Fish and chips, stuffed lobster tails, and shrimp & grits. Lobster was incredible, fish was really good and huge. Shrimp and grits were ok, missing the creole taste. Friendly staff as always. We came at 5pm, the line to get a table started about 6pm.
If I could give this place ten stars, I would! If you like good southern cooking in a diner atmosphere, this is the place for you. We were there last week for a reunion, and I think we ate at Steffens four times! Three for breakfast and once for supper. Absolutely delicious each time!
Such a good place to eat that we went back for dinner. Everything we ordered was so good. The prices are great! Would definitely go back if I’m in town.
Delicious food served quickly and at a very reasonable price point. Think 1980s food prices. Most items seemed to be made from scratch. The local smoked sausage was worth the $1 extra. Very tasty. Can get busy at times but worth the wait. Will be back again!!
