Review Shipwreck's Bar And Grill - Key Largo

From the moment I stepped onto this waterside restaurant, I knew I was in for a treat. The ambiance effortlessly captures the essence of relaxation and joy. The staff here goes above and beyond to ensure every guest feels welcomed and attended to, creating an atmosphere that's both inviting and comforting. The cuisine? Absolutely divine! Fresh seafood delicacies prepared with a mastery that highlights the natural flavors of the ocean. Each dish felt like a celebration of coastal culinary artistry. Dining here was an experience to savor, one that I'll fondly remember. If you're looking for a perfect blend of seaside charm, delectable cuisine, and impeccable service, this restaurant is a true gem on the beach.

THIS is what i would call a “dive” but in the most fantastic, gotta love it kind of way. Good to great food (we loved the seafood combo of grilled shrimp, fish and conch fritters (oh boy were those fritters delicious). Also had the key lime pie which was pretty good and we especially liked the working atmosphere on the canal - good fun all around. also had the lobster with key lime sauce (but that was a little rich for lunch) and the crab cakes which my Swedish friend assures me was quite good as well. 👍🏻👍🏻

Food was good. Their coconut onion rings and mussels are delicious. Bread must be dipped in the juice of the mussels. It was packed with so much flavor. As for everything else, it was ok. Bang bang shrimp wasn’t the bang bang shrimp we thought it was, but still crunchy and good.

Happy hour appetizers were on point! The jalapeño poppers were so fresh! Fish fingers were the best I’ve ever tasted. So good!

I recently dined at this restaurant and overall had a pleasant experience. The view is absolutely stunning and sets the perfect ambiance for a relaxing meal. The customer service was exceptional, as the staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and attended to all our needs. One highlight of the meal was the coconut onion rings, which were a delicious and unique twist on a classic dish. I also enjoyed my burger, which was cooked to perfection and came with generous portions of toppings. While enjoying our meal, we were delighted to have a friendly cat visit our table, adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant. In terms of practicality, the parking was easily accessible and convenient. Prices were very reasonable, especially considering the portions sizes of the dishes. Overall, I would say my experience was positive and I would recommend this restaurant for a nice view, great customer service, and tasty food at a reasonable price.

Chilled vibes, good food. You may have to wait 10 minutes for outside table on the water if you turn up at lunch time.

This is a great place to eat and drink as you enter the Florida Keys! They have some unique beers from the Keys if you are a beer drinker. The food was decent and there is plenty of seating near the water. It’s a great atmosphere and you can feel very relaxed as you watch the boats sail nearby.

Have you ever just wanted to find a whole in the wall on a beaten path? Well look no further! Even though this place has exceptional reviews and it's a town favorite, it lives up to its reputation. There weren't any long lines, the staff were friendly, the establishment was clean, and the views were fantastic. The catch of the day was just that! Super fresh seafood and it had an amazing taste. The waitress was on it. She was taking care of 6+ tables while we were there and we didn't have to hunt her down for anything. The young mind behind the bar was shy but pleasant to talk too! Highly recommended. A++++++

Food was super good! We got the jalapeño poppers and wings for an appetizer. Definitely recommend this place for a nice relaxing place to eat. We went during happy hour (3-6), it wasn't busy at all.

Great hidden gem located on a canal. Great food and great service. Best happy hour in the Keys, Monday through Thursday 4 to 6. Fried shrimp platter was outstanding. Shrimp was perfectly cooked with a light batter. Onion rings were one of the best I've had.

Great little find after the heat of August! The shrimp were huge and the Quesadilla outstanding. Coldest beer so far! Outstanding service and great staff. Thanks for SC

Yes, yes, yes!!! Best service and food. The atmosphere is to die for, right next to the water. There’s often live music which just adds to the whole experience. Shipwrecks is a staple of Key Largo (a must!) Highly recommend the coconut shrimp, jalapeño poppers and mahi-mahi quesadillas.

We ordered the blackened Mahi basket, sandwich, sweet potato fries, and coconut onion rings. The food was excellent! Our server was friendly and attentive. The patio dining was breezy and comfortable. This will be our new stopoff when we travel the keys.

First of all…. The portions are enormous. The cheese burger was absolutely delicious. Seasoned perfectly and prepared to the exact time and temperature. The fresh tomato, and melted cheddar really complimented this burger. The Fries were hot, seasoned well and were a plenty! The onion rings were every bit of 6 inches around and very crispy. *We are average eaters, we could have easily shared this plate and been full.

As others say, a classic dive. Also a great place to bring your catch and have them cook it. I've been coming every year since 2018. A few changes over the years but always great food in a fun atmosphere. 😁

The food was delicious and the staff that we interacted with were amazing. We dined outside and were very comfortable. I was disappointed that we didn't make it at a time when they had live music going on but overall it was a great time. We also heard on Saturday evenings they serve prime rib dinners, we didn't ask about specials and they weren't offered to hear about them either. We will definitely go back again and I suggest you go and try the food and enjoy the outside atmosphere, you certainly won't be disappointed.

Food was great especially for the price. The jalapeño poppers were SO good and we highly recommend the coconut onion rings. Service was a little slow but considering she was the only one serving & bartending, she did great. Still managed to to give us a good experience! Our waitress recommended the pork sirloin and it was very tender and well seasoned. We will definitely be back if we’re ever in the area again. Be sure to bring bug spray if you’re eating in the evening!

Great local spot for seafood. The conch fritters, coconut shrimp, and coconut onion rings were amazing. Our son got the twisted cuban and said it was the best sandwich he'd ever had and he's a really picky eater! Locals were friendly and a great view with outdoor seating.

Crab cakes were good and so was the Chili. An extended beer selection on tap and bottle offered. The main building has a huge wrap around bar that takes up half the room and festive decorations. One of the very last "Keys bar" that feels authentic. Like most keys restaurants, you can not be in a hurry and you better know what you want when you have the attention of your bar maid/waitress. Leave a dollar bill on the wall with your name.

Horrible service. We come down to key Largo at least twice a month so we are very familiar with the area and atmosphere. Today was our third and last visit to this place. When we arrived with our friends we were told to find a table and we will get to you when we can! The food was not bad but their service is the worst, We waited 45 mins
Before even the waitress asked us if we had ordered any drinks and when we said that nobody had come and ask she got upset and said they were very busy. Ten minutes before that she was sitting at a table next to us chatting with another clients. I have never seen a waitress with such a lousy attitude and bad manners. When she finally took our food order she talked very condescendingly with my husband about the cut of the fish we were trying to order. We had another waitress bring our food, and she was nice. When we requested another beer for our visiting friends, the first waitress brought it, did not look at us and plopped the beer down while she was still chatting with her friends at the other table. Once we returned to our place we chatted with other people here, who have had the same experience there. Each couple said they no longer go there because of the very poor service and dirty conditions!

From the curb it's not real appealing. However go out back sit on the screened in patio or the picnic tables and be amazed. Good food. Fast friendly service. I'd eat here again.

Someone stated a dive. We agree. Food was not that good and waitresses were so slow. Beer and wine only. No booze. Place needs a good cleaning.

After reading so many positive reviews my wife and I decided to try this restaurant. Service was horrible, no one at the front door, after finding waitress she said go sit whatever you like, however all tables were dirty , had plates, food and drinks still remaining after customer were gone . Overall place was dirty.
Now food was cheap but not really good, reminded me school cafeteria food , fish was cold and dry, scallops were so tiny and just cooked –suppose to be grilled, and everything it was served cold. Bad food and horrible service.

Hidden Gem. I spent two Jan & Feb 13 in Key Largo and only regret that I waited until Feb to find the Shipwreck. After the first dinner we went back for a burger the next day then twice more. I took my sister & B-in-L, who is a meat & spuds guy, there for dinner before I left for the north. He got the prime rib (Sat only) and was very happy. We had 3 beers, one wine & one mixed drink, two appetizers, 3 fish entrees & the prime rib for less than $100. Will be my first stop the next time I am in the Keys.

Great meal, relaxed atmosphere, reasonable prices!. We've dined at many restaurants in Key Largo. This one was one of our best experiences. Definitely feels like a "locals place". Patrons seemed to know each other, have their preferred spots at the bar. There was a mixture of couples, singles and families. Service was prompt and friendly. Portions were generous. Food was delicious! We began our meal with an appetizer that caught our eyes, Coconut Onion Rings with Thai Sauce. Very unique blend of flavors. Very tasty!

My husband ordered one of the daily specials, a prime rib platter, and I order from the regular menu, a Mahi basket (blackened). Both orders were terrific! The prime rib was extremely tender and perfectly cooked (medium-rare), the blackened Mahi was a nice size portion, still moist, not over cooked, and well seasoned without being too pepper hot. Dessert was a yummy slice of rich, dark chocolate cake. Our bill including tip was approx $50.

The restaurant offers indoor or outdoor seating and is situated on a navigable waterway. We plan to dine at The Shipwreck Bar & Grill again very soon.

Hole in the wall, off beaten path, and totally worth it. Try the coconut onion rings. If you're sick of seafood, they have a big juicy burger that's just the ticket.

Great food and service in casual Florida Keys atmosphere. Need snorkeling advice? Jenn will provide that too! Awesome place. We will be back.

Great food and service! Very impressed.

Awesome! Great outdoor atmosphere and awesome beautiful waitress! Beer and wine only. Lots of beers to choose from tho! Food wasn't spectacular but it was good and well worth the visit! For dessert get the bourbon pecan pie! Highly recommended I would definitely come here again!

Dinner and a show I think .... Dinner and a show
I think we were the only non locals in the screen room overlooking the canal.
The crowd was colorful.
The food was good. All you can eat Mahi special. Fried, grilled, blackened. All were flakey and moist. I like my blackened a bit spicier. They made us a couple Caesar side salads that weren't on the menu. The onion rings were perfect. Crunchy outside tender inside. We're going to swing by on our way north to try the coconut onion rings. Waitress, Jesse was very good too.

Great surprise!. Yes it is a dive, but worthy of diners drive ins and dives. The staff was so friendly, and so were the locals dining there. They helped with directions we needed and even one gentleman went out and picked up a guide book for us. How cool is that! We were just getting down to the keys from the airport, and we decided to try this place since it was close to our rental. Boy were we glad we did. Don't be put off by the looks, as it is not as clean as I would like, but the coconut shrimp was to die for, and my Mahi Mahi sandwich was the best piece of fish I had the whole trip. My hubbie ordered the burger and he said it was even better than the Kobe beef burger at the famous Burger Bar. I believe it was our best dining experience we had on our vacation, as most recommended restaurants were overpriced and overrated. Take the time to find this great hole-in-the-wall...Hey Guy Fieri....hear they have a mean all you can eat fish on friday nights...wish we hadn't wasted our time eating at other places!

Best dinner I had in Key Largo. My husband and I love to hit the local spots whenever we are on vacation. When the locals are drawn to a spot, odds are its for good reason. So we asked around town where there was a good place to eat and we kept hearing about Shipwreck's. We decided to go on a Friday night for the all you can eat fish fry and oh my gosh it was amazing. We started out with the recommended seared tuna, it was unbelievable! Perfect! Then we had to try the fish fry! For the fried Mahi it was $9.99 and for the grilled or blackened Mahi it was $11.99. We each had a side with our fish. I had the homemade potato salad and my husband had the sweet potato fries, YUM! We couldn't believe the portions for the price, so much food! The all you can eat was no joke, the girls that were working had our plates full before we finished what we started with. I had the blackened Mahi and my husband had the fried so we can try one of each. It was delicious. The beer selection was great. Whatever they didn't have on their many draft selections, they had it in a bottle A - Z, you name it. The atmosphere was so cozy and Jessi and Jen were so sweet. Such good service and food. We will definitely be back soon!

This place isn't worth it. Dark and dingy. The tables were dirty and the food just thrown at us. Bathrooms were the grossest ever with no toilet paper or towels. The waitress even got in an argument with the next table about cheap beer. The food was so so but the atmosphere was gross.

So happy I went there !. Didn't wanna pay oceanfront prices for mediocre food, so we went off the beaten path. Still ended up by the water, but way more affordable and super delicious ! The conch chowder was awesome (and big), and so was the Phillie Mahi Sandwich. But the absolute best was the Shipwreck Burger. Wow, huge ! Super fresh tasting & juicy.
The place has plenty of atmosphere, the waitress was super nice, and the cook even created the right size burger for my son (so we wouldn't have to choose between sliders and adult burgers).
Can't wait to go back and taste the rest of the menu !

The best.... I am not sure about the previous comment about a bad hamburger or any of the other negative comments. First of all, you don't go to the keys to have a hamburger; you go for fish. I have only been to Shipwreck's twice but they make the best blackened and beer-battered dolphin that I have found anywhere. The service is great and they have a wide variety of beer on tap. If you are in the area I would highly suggest eating here because you won't be disappointed.

Relaxing atmosphere& awesome food. Had a mahi basket and 2 beers and paid $12. Everything was delicious. I will definately be back with friends. The outside area was perfect for watching all of the dive boats come in and go out. I had a great time.

Gross food. The hamburger was the worst i ate in the keys

Great food. Shipwrecks is a great place to come and eat the food is great thanx to Lo Lo & Marie come on in sit down and just relax the only thing you will need to worry about is running out of bait
Kip
Great Local Place. This place is hard to find, but well worth the effort. The burgers are not only the best in the keys, but the seafood is mostly caught by the local fisherman. It is a locals place! Don't expect the service and price you get at a tourist trap!
