Review Doc's Diner - Key Largo

Bronson Kurtz
My son loved it here for breakfast. Since we were up early diving docs was an easy choice. They are definitely a diner and I can’t vouch for the quality of the ingredients but I got a simple omelette with veggies and coffee and it arrived fast and it was a large portion.

Doc's Diner was conveniently across the highway from our hotel in Key Largo! Perfect because it meant we could get one of their very delicious cinnamon rolls that morning. We called in our order and drove over to pick it up. Our hotel room included a kitchenette, so we did pickups in the mornings at a few diners. We went twice to Doc's, though, because they have the best breakfast! I ordered the Eggs Benedict with hashbrowns, which was ok. The bernaisse sauce didn't taste quite right to me, like there was a touch of vinegar added. My daughter got the 2 Eggs breakfast and was very happy with her order. The BEST part of the breakfast was the Cinnamon roll - yummy!! It was so big that we were able to split it. Good coffee too! Parking is free in front of the diner. It's right in the main highway going thru Key Largo. We will order again next time we are in town. The staff were very nice too.

Very tasty breakfast (waffles and omelette with hash browns are great) and nice clean comfortable atmosphere. Friendly staff. Happy to return.

Typical diner...on steroids. Staff was amazing. Food was amazing...and large portions. Easy parking in both front and back. Easy location to find. Great place, I highly recommend. Oh, if it is crowded and you don't want to wait...sit at the counter...quick service.

This was an excellent find driving to Key West. The food was excellent and the staff was super friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed this pit stop and will definitely come back.

This is a great breakfast place. The service was amazing. Had 4 different people trying to help us. Food came out lightning fast, it tasted excellent, waitress was on top of everything, and everyone was friendly. Highly recommend the cinnamon roll and the hashbrown casserole. Can't wait to try them again.

The breakfast food was really good. The prices were cheap for the amount of food you got. The menu is actually expansive for a breakfast menu, so if you are a pick eater you are sure to find something you would like. Our food came out not ten minutes after ordering (although we did go at about 7 am). I also got a hot chocolate, which was about average. My fiancé ordered the coffee (average) and Flagler's Train Wreck, which he said he would 10/10 order again. One thing that irked me is that for our waitress we had to repeat ourselves a little bit, and she gave me an unsweet tea instead of a sweet tea (which if you are from the south like me that's just a no, unsweet tea is so nasty). And she didn't put ham on my GBS like I had asked. That's the only reason I gave 4 stars. Also if you are obviously a tourist expect to get side eyes from 1 or 2 of the locals there. *if you really like their coffee mugs and want a souvenir you can buy one for about $11!

Very simple and friendly diner that knows exactly how to be that quintessential neighborhood diner. Also have some very unexpected and tasty breakfast dishes outside the regular bacon/sausage/eggs/potatoes that you find at most breakfast places. Corned beef hash is pretty good. Their breakfast burritos are next level and will fill you up for 70% of your day. Great portion sizes.

I have been here twice and I keep falling in love with the restaurant, excellent service, great food and price is also affordable compared with other places where price are sky high and quality are shy diving, I recommend it 100%

Service was excellent and the food was delicious! Their tagline is "Come hungry" and they mean it! Very generous portions. Reasonably priced too.

Breakfast was very good. Packed house at 10am on a Saturday. Noticed that the back room had large parties and the midsection had comfy booths. We sat at the counter, so plenty of seating offered. Service was quick and friendly. English and Spanish spoken, no surprise. Our eggs and sides were tasty. Lunch menu looked great. Coming back for sure.

This is a LOCAL diner. Busy, of course because your getting home cooked style and flavor. Place to rub shoulders with the Key Largo Conch's.

Hearty Breakfast!. The homemade banana bread is delicious! The portions were both large and very tasty. The service was lightning fast. I order the huevos rancheros, and I would go back again and probably order the same thing. Great place with local feel and friendly service.

:-). Be forewarned though, you will leave STUFFED. The food is of rib-sticking kind but when you are about to spend a day in the ocean snorkeling your little heart out it's a good idea to fill up so you have the energy to fend off any jellies that are waiting to sting.

Good breakfast location;lots of choices, large portions. Reasonable prices. Fast efficient friendly service. Can get very busy. Very accommodating to special orders. Eggs cooked perfectly as ordered;creamy grits (not dry or lumpy!), sausage patties well done, etc

That Tower Looks Fruity. We shared a Tower breakfast ( 3 slices of French toast with blueberries, banana, and strawberries between layers ) and a side of bacon. It was more than large enough for the two of us...and very good. Service was prompt and pleasant even though the place was busy. Recommend.

Awesome food! Generous portions, courtesy and friendly service, and the pancakes are perfect for breakfast or lunch! If I head to Key West again, I will be back!

Service was poor. My water sat empty throughout my entire meal until I could finally get someone's attention for a refill. My waffle was way too dark and crispy. The eggs were runny when I ordered them over medium.

Decent food, they could stand to watch a few episodes of Restaurant Impossible or Kitchen Nightmares for some cleaning tips. Ceiling fans and vents had visible dust on them. Stools were disgusting but yet the rest of the place seemed clean (but I'm glad I didn't order a drink with ice in it, my gut tells me the ice machine hasn't been cleaned in ages). Could use a design update as well. Had breakfast and the eggs were cooked perfectly, sausage was tasty too despite lack of even a hint of salt. Prices were very reasonable, but for some reason the tab was not totaled which resulted in a poor tip for the server since I don't do math in my head well. Server was professional and was friendly and fast. Will probably go back.

Not horrible. Wasn't overly impressed, but wasn't horrible food. Only go if you have some time to kill though

I walked into Doc's at about 10am on a Saturday. They place was packed, but no one was waiting expect for me. About 4 employees made eye contact before the 5th finally greeted me. It was ones odd those moments where you do not know if you are standing in the right spot and 30 seconds feels like 10 minutes. When I said I was a party of one I was shunned into a corner bar seat. Two more people came in and, because of the layout, I was trapped in my corner. There was always at least one group of people waiting to be sat. When I asked an employee what the fish of the day was she said they weren't serving lunch yet, not that there is a fish of the day listed on the breakfast menu. I ordered a coffee and the Key Largo Benedict and for an extra charge got the hash brown casserole. The individual creamers that sit out on the counter says on the container, "keep refrigerated," oh well. The food came out quickly. The coffee was average. The hash brown casserole was the size and shape of a slice of tiramisu (huge). The Benedict was was good, but the English muffin should have been toasted longer - it was still soft and combined with the sauce was too soft. The amount of ham was much larger than expected. Overall an average diner experience. Nothing stood out as spectacular and the service is typical Florida diner (meh). I might come back for lunch. I will say that it is family owned and operated. From what I observed there is one family member who runs the entire front operation mostly by herself - she was they one who finally greeted and took care of me.

Amazing. Go the recommendation from the manager at a dive shop. His praises were nothing but true. Spend 7 to 8 bucks on a massive meal. Gonna eat my leftovers for lunch. Love how its a family restaurant.

Good place for breakfast! Local owned.

Very Good!. Took the kids for breakfast at Doc's today. They were all begging for pancakes - Doc's did NOT let them down. Very large portions, high quality. Friendly service. We will most likely eat here several times this week during our stay in Key Largo.

Outstanding Meal.. Since I was driving I asked my daughter to search and find a breakfast joint so we could stop to eat. She found Doc's Diner, read some reviews to me and our decision was made to go here.

So we pulled in and sat at the counter. It's a basic diner with no special bells and whistles to it. They did had a mural painted on the north wall that looked pretty cool. The restaurant was also nice and clean.

Our server was Gina who happened to be the owner's daughter. She was very friendly. I read the front of the menu and it explained about her family and how they arrived in the keys and never left. Just a good vibe to read that. Makes you appreciate Mom and Pop joints even more.

So I ordered, the Gina's Kitchen Melt with extra cheese (see pic) which is a Denny's Super-bird. I added a hash brown casserole and a small order of biscuits and gravy. My daughter had the Waffle Platter which was one Belgium waffle, two eggs, and some bacon (see pic). Holy smokes this was good. my sandwich was as big as a double decker and it was the BEST off shoot of a Super-bird that I have ever had (see pic). The sandwich held up nice and firm while I was eating it and it was down right delicious. The hashbrown casserole was a nice big square slice of goodness. This blew Cracker Barrels little baby hashbrown casserole away. As a matter fact I think Doc's hashbrown casserole's ate two of Cracker Barrels, maybe even three, lol. Good mixture of cheese, potatoes, onions, My daughter loved the waffles and her scrambled eggs were prefect along with the bacon. Gina forgot to submit my Biscuit and gravy order, but she actually did me a favor since I was stuffed. Overall just some great chow.

Well you ask, why five stars if she messed your order up. The answer is simple, Gina was very apologetic and last time I checked your not perfect, she's not perfect, and I'm long way from being perfect thus the 5 stars folks. Remember to tell Gina that Dan sent you and Stay Hungry!

Awesome! Service was nice and food was good. Stopped right off the HWY on our way to Key West for breakfast. Docs Breakfast Burrito was great'

Breakfast was just average - portions were large, but omelet was bland and pancakes chewy. Belgian waffle was good.

Avoid the lunch menu. We ate three items off the lunch menu (Cuban, ham and cheese and nuggets) all were very bad. Service was good and atmosphere typical diner.

Waffle. So good! Cooked perfectly ... Tons of fruit and whipped cream..... Best I've had anywhere....perfect....
And the coffee was good too! Will go back for sure... Wish this place wasn't 20 hours away from my house!
