Hawkeye Restaurant

Food was good and good size portions. We all got the Sunday Special which came with a meat of choice from one's listed, 2 sides, and a dessert. Was best bang for your buck, otherwise prices are higher here compared to similar type food restaurants visited elsewhere. Waitress did well. Place was clean. Restroom was also clean and didn't smell bad, huge bonus!!

One of the only places open on Sunday and it was a great find. Reasonable prices and the food is awesome. No wonder the locals come. The wait staff are welcoming and super knowledgeable about the menu. I opted for one of several Sunday specials and my boyfriend got the rib eye. Not only did we need a carry out we needed to be carried out. The chicken fingers a huge and delicious (appetizer). Truly a gem in IA

Took my family in for lunch. We were quickly seated, made our order within 5-10 minutes, and received our drinks and appetizer within 15 minutes. This was during the after church crush that occurs most Sundays, so being served quickly and efficiently was a great opening! Our entrees and specials arrived fresh and tasted wonderful! Kudos on the onion rings we had as an appetizer! The light, crispy batter was seasoned just right and was crispy, just the way we like it! Thanks to Kristina for her keeping orders together and ensuring the level of service we've come to expect at the Hawkeye!! Merry Christmas to you all and we'll see you again soon!

We had a fairly large group and we got seated right away. The food took a little time coming but when it came it was worth it! The bacon jalapeño chicken bites and fries were delicious! Those that got burgers and wraps were happy and the one who got pasta had no complaints! We will be glad to eat there again if we are ever in the area! The server was amazing too!

I was passing through by myself and decided to give this restaurant a try. The bartender, Sara H. greeted me with a big smile and promptly got me a cold beer. Since I haven’t been here before I asked Sara for a food recommendation, and she recommended one of the steaks and told me I can’t go wrong. I ordered the ribeye medium rare and she was right. Very flavorful, prepared correctly and it was delicious! I stayed around for a couple more cocktails and good conversation. If your in town, give this place a try and ask for Sara H. to take good care of you. You won’t be disappointed!

Waitress was great. Bad was the steaks. Both mine and my husband's were tough. Funniest part of the whole meal was we ordered a bottle of wine. Was a screw top but they put a cork on it from a completely different wine. Was hilarious . We are not wine connoisseurs by any means but putting a cork in a screw top bottle is going a bit overboard don't you think. Overall, dinner was not worth what we paid.
