Ice Cream AND pie?!? Wow!!
I decided to check Maxim's out after I had a delicious dinner. I wanted something different, so I was delighted to find out Maxim's specialty; their Pie-cone.
It was a little hard to find as Google has their location by the pier but they were actually set up behind Old Vine. So be aware, they may be in a different location as they are a food truck.
I arrived a little before 9pm, the perfect timing, as there was a group leaving & another group on my tail. The gentleman running the truck was very kind and helpful. He helped me decide on the best ice cream pairing with their Maine blueberry pie (an absolute must because Mainah). He suggested the strawberry cheesecake, which was my second choice.
I am so glad I went with the strawberry cheesecake. The strawberry complimented the blueberry flavor while the cheesecake flavor balanced out the sweetness. I can't tell what's better, the ice cream or the pie?!
Both were so delicious which begs the age old question, is pie meant to be paired with ice cream?! After experiencing Maxim's, I must attest that yes, yes, and yes, the pair is a match made in heaven!! I cannot recommend this little dessertery enough. Incredible dessert for a fair price while supporting a local small business. Doesn't get sweeter than that :)
Don't forget to tip for their trip to Italy! A well deserved vacation for running such an awesome food truck. I hope you come back with some crazy flavor and dessert combination ideas. Hopefully I can make it back before their season ends!
Maxim's: Home of the Pie Cone. These one-of-a-kind deserts entail a waffle cone with pie in the cone, ice cream added, then more pie on top. The only thing that can make the Pilot House Restaurant better is sharing a parking lot with Maxim's. Throughout the week, my friends and I enjoyed many pie cones and we highly recommend to all. We kept craving more. The pie they use is amazing, the ice cream they use is amazing, even the waffle cone itself is amazing. So you can imagine how great the combination can be.
Very unique dessert that was amazing. Maxim was very helpful in offering us some suggestions as well. Looking forward to getting another pie cone here on vacation next year!!
The pie cone was awesome! I highly recommend it!! The gentleman working the truck was very helpful and had great recommendations for flavor pairings.
Wonderful dessert and owners!!! Ice cream was absolutely incredible and the people behind the business are so kind and genuine. 10/10 recommend. May go back 2x this trip.
There are other spots in the port if you want new-age flavor experiments with ice cream...Maxim's has said that ice cream is good, pie is good, screw it let's combine them. It's pie a la mode in a cone or cup. And it's outstanding.
So good!! I want another pie cone right now! The employee working when we went was so kind and helpful since we hadn't been their before. We recommend stopping in Kennebunkport and making a stop for dessert while you're there!
Blueberry pie cone was fantastic!!! Never seen this before anywhere. Great idea! We loved it. Can’t wait to see you expand and open a store on Main Street. You are on to something here!
Went there today with my son after a kayak trip. Best ice cream I’ve ever had. Ice cream mixed with pie is crazy tasty. Can’t wait to come back again!
The key lime pie and vanilla ice cream was a delicious treat.
