Went again recently for dinner, we ordered more dishes and had a great time. My understanding now, is they have levels of spice that range from 0-5. They don’t inform you about this which is unfortunate because lack of spice (heat) is my primary complaint. Original: So I’m not sure what everyone is raving about here, the food is good but not fantastic unless I ordered the wrong things. Let me say also that the service was excellent and the atmosphere was cozy and really nice. We ordered the roti with chicken, chili shrimp, the Malaysian fried rice and the black pepper beef. The roti chicken was outstanding, the shrimp and fried rice were good and the beef was just okay (lacking in spice/tenderness and was not hot enough, pot dumped into a sizzling pan).

The food here is delicious. The service is top notch. Jackie did a great job helping me understand the menu on my first visit. There were many options for my diet preferences and the quality of the food was very good. I can’t wait to come back and try more items on the menu.

Some amazing Malaysian food with casual ambiance and friendly staff. We ordered the roti and chicken curry appetizer, veg dumplings and flat rice noodles. Roti and chicken curry was the best of all and the roti was crisp and flaky and tasted really fresh! Rice noodles were good with the right flavors and not too spicy and had the right amount of veggies and was not heavy at all . The veggie dumpling was not upto the mark and was oily so would not really recommend it . The juices were outstanding - we had the guava with camu camu and passion+dragon fruit drinks and worth getting them ! Overall great experience with good food and ambiance .

The first time I came here I was blown away at how good the food was and have since been back with so many folks - it's the place we want to take friends when they come into town because everyone LOVES it. After trying several things, I've never had anything bad, but my FAVES are the turmeric defense beverage, the salt & pepper calamari (best calamari I've ever had), roti canai, kerabu prawns, and the dim sum dumplings: take your pick.

Phat Eatery is a terrific place for delicious Malay food in a great neighborhood and a well kept restaurant. We had a wonderful server who made recommendations, and ended up with the 'feed me' tasting menu for our party (~50-60 a person?)
The appetizers we had were roti and the salt and pepper calamari, which were both very well received. Our entrees were the Malay chicken curry, CK Teow, sizzling beef and pepper, and the salt and pepper lobster tails. The chicken was tender, the noodles in the Teow were delightfully springy, the beef was juicy, and the lobsters were creamy - all of which were absolutely amazing. So far, the flavors have been the best of any Malay restaurants I've had in this area.

I happened to be visiting the area during Houston’s Restaurant Week, and the food was delicious after a day of traveling. It was 4 courses (2 small bites), full size entree, and dessert. Flavors were present and the food was not bland. I can’t wait to come back and try other items.

I ordered the Curry Laksa and the BBQ Buns. The amount of noise in the restaurant should depend on what day it is. I went on a Tuesday around 2 p.m., and it was a nice, quiet environment. The Curry Laksa was worth it. I added chili sauce paste (I love spicy food), and it elevated the taste for me. I wish the BBQ Buns had more meat. The bun itself was soft and a bit sweet, which I didn't think was overpowering. I would go again if I was in the Katy area.

Had a nice time here. Was a bit taken aback by the prices but the food was quality, tasted good, and portion sizes offset a bit of the sticker shock. We enjoyed the roti with curry - the roti was buttery flakey goodness. Followed by the Malaysian fried rice, Rendang, Hainanese chicken, and ck teow flat noodles. All good. Wish the Rendang was a bit more Indonesian in flavor (more coconut) but that’s personal preference and this is a Malay restaurant. Plus points for the men’s restroom having a changing table - which I put to use for my boy. Will be back as Katy Asia Town is a fun area.

I had a wonderful lunch experience with my aunts and cousins today at Phat Eatery in Asiatown in Katy, Texas. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was lively, and the service was impeccable.
We arrived at the restaurant around 12:30 pm and it was already quite busy.
Once we were seated, our server was very attentive and helpful.
We started our meal with Roti Canai and Roti with Chicken Curry. The roti was flaky and buttery, and the chicken curry was rich and creamy.
For my main course, I had the Sizzling Tofu with Shrimp Sauce. The tofu was perfectly cooked and the sauce was savory and flavorful. We also ordered the Char Kway Teow and the Hainanese Chicken. The char kway teow was stir-fried flat rice noodles with shrimp, chicken, and vegetables. It was perfectly cooked and had a great balance of flavors.
Overall, We had a wonderful dining experience at Phat Eatery. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was lively. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great Malaysian meal within Houston.
Keep it up Phat Eatery!!!
