Came for lunch with my daughter and friend. It was a perfect spot to go coming straight from the airport. Atmosphere was excellent, cool & breezy & the food was excellent. Everyone who was working was really friendly. :)

Side of the road? No beer? Roadside and not drowning in tourists? Who cares if you love some great smoke bbq meats. I couldn’t believe the ribs were pork they were so meaty. They were so good my partner orders a half rack and clumsy resist taking another sampler platter to go. The chili could use some extra flavoring but I like deep heat and spices so I can appreciate they made this for the masses and not for me.
A special shout out to Keoni for taking care of us and laughing each time we turned around to order more while making us feel like we were getting served from a long time friend at a backyard bbq.

Chicken In A Barrel was a terrific find. Prices aren’t cheap but it was good. Where to start.. clearly the quarter chicken was the best. It was piping hot, moist, and delicious. You eat here for the chicken! No question.
At first I thought the baby back ribs were dry and too lean but then realized it was just the first piece. The rest of it was juicy and had some fat. And their homemade baked beans with bits of meat was awesome.
We had one more dish: the pulled pork was juicy and fresh.
Both plate lunches came with the beans and dirty rice. There are five picnic tables in the shade. And the owner and worker were really nice to chat with.
One last pro tip: the BBQ sauce is incredible! Both the regular and spicy. I may come back again later this trip!

The meats were really great. The pork and the chicken were incredible. The coleslaw was very good. The sampler platter was enough food for two of us, but you can see the picture and judge for yourself. The man working was really kind and was very good to us.

I stopped by quickly not knowing what to expect. I had two minutes and asked the guy if he had anything. He ended up giving me a Chicken plate only to blow my mind with Chicken. The smoke combination he used is amazing. Coming from Texas I eat a lot of BBQ. I'm not kidding when I say it is AMAZING!! Blew my mind with the quality of the chicken. God you need to try it. Best food I've had in Kauai so far.

We stopped in here for a quick dinner after a busy day. This restaurant is basically a small roadside stand, but don't let the appearance fool you. The food is good. There were a few tables outside for "dine in" or you could order to go. I ordered the sample platter which came with various BBQ meats. I'd recommend ordering a side of Mac salad as well, it was delicious!

This place was amazing! The 2 guys were friendly and the food was soooo good. It's a little place on the side of the road so don't expect anything fancy... just fun and delicious!

We visited this location 6 years ago. We came back and had another wonderful lunch. Chicken was huge and very moist. The two guys who works there are super nice. Will def come back.

Wow, this is great food. Don't miss out. We had the combo plate and all the food was delicious. The smoked chicken was probably the best I've ever had and I've been smoking meats for over 25 years. It is tasty and not dry. Indulge yourself and eat the skin too, it is soooo smoky good tasting. Likewise the pulled pork. Boy! Was that cooked to perfection. A+

Juicy, flavorful chicken! Chili beans, mac salad, and rice were all delicious. We weren’t even looking for a meal, but we saw some ribs coming out of the smoke barrel as we walked by and couldn’t pass it up!

This barbecue was so good! I got the sampler platter and everything on it was delicious! I especially liked the pulled pork and the chicken but it was all so good I’m sure I’ll just get another sampler platter next time so I still get to try everything!

The best chicken on the island! It’s perfect. The staff was really nice, good wait time. For the downsides, the atmosphere of this particular location wasn’t to great, there were a lot of things that needed to be repaired. Also in my veeery personal opinion, their bbq sauce was to sweet, but that’s just me.

Oh Chicken in a Barrel...I dream about your chicken everyday. From the first moment I saw your tantalizing chicken sign on the main road through Kapaa I knew I had to try your chicken. It’s some of the best chicken I’ve ever had. It’s smoked to perfection and falls off the bone. If I could have Chicken in a Barrel for breakfast lunch and dinner I would. Costco should get rid of its rotisserie chickens and put Chicken in a Barrel in all of their stores instead. If I was on death row, I’d tell the prison guard to bring me a 1/4 chicken plate with two ribs, chili and Spanish rice (pictured) from Chicken in a Barrel as my last meal. It’s that good!

Filling!! So yummy though. We had tacos, one pork and one fish, also a chicken burrito, delish. It is a bit pricier than you may expect, but it's worth it. It's enough for two meals. Very nice woman working there. She was doing everything, alone.
