Review Kountry Kitchen - Kapaa

My dining experience at this establishment was really good. The Strawberry French Toast and Hawaiian Waffles on offer were delicious and left my taste buds in awe. The Strawberry French Toast, with its golden perfection, fresh strawberries, whipped cream, and homemade strawberry syrup, was a symphony of textures and flavors that danced on my palate. Equally impressive were the Hawaiian Waffles, where caramelized pineapples, toasted coconut flakes, coconut syrup, and whipped cream collaborated to transport me to a tropical haven with each bite. The staff's courtesy added an extra layer of enjoyment to the meal. Attentive and friendly, they ensured a seamless dining experience. What stood out was their knowledge of the menu and their genuine enthusiasm for the dishes they served. For those with vegetarian preferences, the menu boasted excellent options, proving that plant-based delights can be just as indulgent. The pricing was reasonable. In conclusion, this restaurant stands out as a delightful haven where the delectable dishes, attentive staff, and diverse vegetarian options come together to craft a great dining experience.

I ordered your classic Portuguese sausage, eggs and rice. I like my egg yolk runny, but the white fried crispy. I requested that and they made a decent attempt at it. My wife had an avocado toast that she enjoyed. Service was fast and our waitress was very nice, efficient, and professional. The only complaint that turned me off is an accumulation of dust that I noticed on their fan blades. Devil is in the details "restaurant" owners!

This is a great spot for breakfast. Best loco moco I found so far. They have an option to substitute fried rice for white rice so I had to try it. Delicious. Meat very well seasoned. Wife had the pineapple French toast. The coconut sauce it came with was over the top. We also tried the fresh pineapple juice. So refreshing. The restaurant really starts to pick up by 8 and we struggled with parking mostly because we did not realize you can park across the street. Service was quick and food came out quickly.

This place is a gem. I've heard about it many times, and the hype was real. We went for Sunday morning breakfast, and the place was supper busy with several people waiting outside. Pro tip: Reserve your spot using yelp or call and reserve a table if you're a table of 6 or more. Our server was super kind and also gave us tips on near by beachs and hikes. The food was amazing. It's probably the best breakfast we had on our whole 8 days trip.

Husband had the sampler special best part was the huge pancake and fresh fruit. I had a Mediterranean omelet full of a ton of veggies a little too many onions for my liking. Probably should have went with the French toast or pancake. The hashbrowns were crunchy which was great and very good wheat toast. Servers friendly coffee kept coming. 2% discount with cash. Get there early long wait if you don't show up.

Had heard about this place during a previous trip to Kauai. Was finally able to go during this last trip. There is a LONG wait, but it's definitely worth it. The food was great! The pancake was huge! Coconut French toast with coconut syrup was delicious.

The food was great... Our waitress was also nice... However my only gripe is that when asking to substitute the bacon that came with my meal for Spam (ya know being in Hawaii and all) I was told a hard no... That they do not allow substitutions... Here's the deal.. if she would have told me it was a $2-$3 upgrade fee...I would have said that was completely fine... But a hard no when you're paying a decent amount of $$ for breakfast was kind of shocking (my husband and I each got 1 meal and he got a coffee and the total including tip was $75) I personally have never had that happen at a restaurant like this before so again.. It took me by surprise... The waitress did apologize and said it was from strict instructions of the owner/boss... So my hopes in this... Is that the owner/boss reads this and reconsiders this situation because he/she could have made a little more money off me and would have had a completely satisfied customer and a 5 star review... Hence why I gave 4 stars... The food was great though.. Bacon was a bit under cooked for my liking so most of it went to waste...

We loved this place! It was a bit of a wait, but so worth it. The food was great and the service was exceptional. We wish we’d have eaten here every morning instead of trying out other places. I got the ube French toast and my husband got the Idaho omelette and both were delicious!

Food was decent. I had the Ube French toast, my husband had the eggs Benedict with pulled pork. Probably our second best breakfast we had. I would recommend both items we had. We also got coffee! If you pay with cash you get a 20% discount. Our waitress was nice.

The breakfast we had at Kountry Kitchen was very good. The portions - like at most Hawaiian breakfast places we've visited on our travels to the islands - were huge and the foods we had were fresh and flavorful. We had good service and the atmosphere was laid back and inviting. It's very easy to see why lines form outside the restaurant on most mornings. Kountry Kitchen would be a "must-visit" for breakfast if you're staying on the east side of Kauai.

$15 is steep for an omelet, though the luau omelet was good (not $15 good).
Limited hours & lack of Aloha spirit (feels like a mainland diner), coupled with high prices means we will likely not return.
The pancakes were a step up from ono family restaurant in taste, though the ono pancakes are also good.
Lowered my rating as I am waiting at table & noticing just how guests are ignored.

Breakfast was fantastic! Staff was nice and friendly!

Good Food Bad Service. I ordered the Denver omelet and they brought out the wrong omelet and i told the waitress and she told me that " no she didn't bring out the wrong omelet and no she won't bring out the one I originally wanted." Didn't get discounted or anything. Luckily my friend ordered yummy pancakes and shared them with me! The pancakes were a home run! Keep the cooks, get rid of the waitress!

Best breakfast on the island. This was our hands down favorite place for breakfast on the island. I can't believe I left KK out of my list of Kaua'i reviews! Somehow had my head in the sand. All menu items we ordered were done correctly, timely, with a smile, the coffee kept comin', and the fruit cup is a must. I've tried to replicate a few of their menu items since being back home but it's just never the same. Upon next trip to Kaua'i, we may not stay in Kapaa but will drive there from all points. Go, stand in line, your other plans for the morning can wait a little longer.

Great breakfast. My husband and I went to breakfast here last week. I got two pancakes which are the size of a dinner plate (one coconut and one mac nut) - both were good. My husband got a two egg breakfast with frecnh toast and a half of a papaya. Everything was cooked properly and tasted great. A definate reccommend.

Amazing food, worth the wait. We had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. It was worth the wait. I had the luau omelet and it was huge and delicious. It was served with either rice or hashbrowns. I had hashbrowns. It was also served with either toast or corn bread. I had the cornbread. It was a great big meal which was perfect since we went kayaking afterwards and needed a big meal for our trip.

I always try to eat breakfast here when I'm in town. The Luah omelete is my favorite!! This time I also bought a piece of art!

Breakfast ..... One word......Awesome. Only place I have seen where leftover box for breakfast is needed ! Idaho Omelette and breakfast burito. Loved them. Worth the wait !
Tia
The pancakes are the size of a dinner plate - easy to share ONE pancake! It's 1 $ sign if you share 2 $$ if you don't share! Skip the bacon, not great! Yummy coconut syrup!

Great Pancakes!. I had the banana & macadamia nut pancakes. They were amazing with the coconut syrup. If you don't go here for breakfast at least stop in for a snack for a pancake. One is more than enough for two people!

Friendly staff, wen't for the banana macadamia nut pancakes, which didn't disappoint. Wife's omelet was overcooked and nothing special.

Great breakfast. I had a delicious omelet and my wife had a pumpkin pancake with coconut syrup. Best meal we had while on the island.

Ok... Big portions, but food was greasy!!

Including a three hour layover...... The last time I had this generic of a breakfast was when I was on a plane. I have no idea why people are lined up outside to get in here. Would be cheaper, better and quicker to buy the boxed stuff at the supermarket and cook 'em at home. Sorry.

Decent food, friendly wait staff and okay prices. I had the potato salad as a side. I make mine a little on the dryer side but they added a secret ingredient to their recipe that hade me craving for more. If anyone knows where that flavor is from please let me know

Awesome Breakfast!. I went here with my husband 4 times during our week visit to Kauai. You must try the Loco Moco. It is rice topped with a ground beef patty, an egg of your choice, and brown gravy. Totally did not sound appetizing but after tasting my husband's order of it, I had to get it! I also had the macadamia nut pancakes which were great.
The only cons of the restaurant are that you most likely will have to wait for a table and I would not recommend getting the coffee. It did not taste up to par with the other restaurants and was pricey.

My fiancee and I decided to pick based on how full the restaurant looked. Great plan. The Luau omelet did not disappoint, filled with spinach, cheese, onion and loaded with tender pork. Definite hit. The pumpkin pancakes were on special. The pancake was the size of a platter and the taste was phenomenal-nutty and full of flavor. We will be back.

They aren't kidding about huge portions! I had the banana Mac nut and they were the size of the plate. These are what lesser pancakes aspire to be when they grow up! My husband had the luau omelette and he rated it as top 3 omelette ever. The plate sized omelette was stuffed to overflowing with fall apart tender salty pork, crispy sweet onions, and fesh spinach. This is a popular place so expect to wait on the weekends.

Delicious. The best sweet bread french toast ever!!!!!!!!!! Amazing coconut syrup :)

Someone from Dollar Rental cars suggested this place to us when we first got here. At first I was kinda hesitant but decided to go for it since it would be our 1st meal in Kauai. Well, I'm just glad I had the chance to eat their coconut French toast! So Ono I didn't need to put syrup. My husband ordered the eggs Margo, it had turkey, tomato, eggs over easy on top of an English muffin with their delicious hollandaise sauce. Breakfast was very satisfying and their decor reminded me of home with their rooster paintings (which were also for sale).
FTW
Very good.

Awesome food, huge pancakes, good prices, tiny toilet seats. I'd use the bathroom next door if you have a butt at all. :)

The breakfasts are good diner food. Don't expect to count calories here! The pancakes are enormous and delicious, and they have a huge variety of egg dishes.

The macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup are amazing! The omelettes are great too.

I can feel my arteries clogging just thinking about them. You know when you eat something so good that your get a little sweat and your face feels greasy. That’s how you feel after this meal and it really isn’t that expensive. I think it was around 40 bucks for all this food with drinks. By Hawaii standards that’s a good price. Actually by New York standards that’s a good price.
