Review Sam's Ocean View - Kapaa

We got perfect seats with ocean views. The menu had Waygu sliders,loaded Belgium fries, and they were OK. You're paying for views and great wait staff. Parking is best across the street. Be careful when crossing the street.

Went here based on a recommendation from our Airbnb owner and I’m sure glad we did. Super fun small little restaurant right on the coast with absolute amazing views of the ocean. Open air and fantastic island vibe. The staff was friendly and efficient. We did small plates splitting the Wagyu sliders, Mediterranean toast and grilled cheese. I must say the grilled cheese was one of the best things I’ve had to eat in a long time, but you can’t go wrong with any of these dishes!!!

Had a great dinner at Sam's with a perfect view of the beach during sunset. Pretty much all of the seats have a great view of the ocean. The restaurant faces East, so you don't see the actual setting of the sun, but the view is still georgous as the clouds and ocean turn colors during sunset. And if you are lucky or time it right, you can catch a spectacular moonrise! The sea lights up like a bed of diamonds with the moonbeams glistening on the waves. For dinner, my wife had a chimichurri wagyu steak that was simply fantastic. One of the best dishes we had on our entire trip and definitely the best steak. I had the ahi tuna special which had a wasabi ginger preparation over an avacado cucumber salad- also delicious. Definitely plan a visit to Sam's if you come to Kauai- reservations are a must if you want a sunset or moonrise timeslot.

Ambiance, service, food & drinks were all amazing. My husband & I love it so much, we went twice during our trip. Highly recommend the crispy cauliflower appetizer and Parmesan crusted island fish. Also recommend going before sunset to benefit from the amazing view!

Wow! We sat at the bar and it was the best experience and the most delicious food! Our bartender was the BEST (sorry didn’t catch his name) - kind, attentive, crafting excellent drinks, and playing the best music (extra points for playing Postal Service). We tried shrimp arugula salad, chimichurri steak, and spicy lilikoi margarita! Mahalo for spreading aloha through your delicious food and most importantly great vibes via your staff!

If you're looking for the hip spot to hang out with amazing food and a chill atmosphere this is it! My party of 4 didn't have a reservation, which we should have, but we were given menus and the opportunity to order drinks while we waited. And it was so worth the wait! We had the poke nachos and boar sausage to share. And all loved our mains. Both were great.

Louie was the BEST server we have had during our stay on the island. He was knowledgeable about the menu as well as the area and local activities. He was informative and appropriate, never too much, consistently considerate and helpful. Everything we tasted was suberb! The "cheese sandwich" was something we'll dream of until next time.

A small restaurant with a big feel. The food is very good, the service superb and the views of the ocean are spectacular. The interior decorations are eclectic but very entertaining. Because of its relatively small size, the bar seating is included within the restaurant seating and the noise level can be, well, rowdy, at times. Also, parking is challenging. But, all in all, this restaurant is worth it.

The positive reviews are not misplaced, this was one of my favorite places I ate for my entire stay in Hawaii. The view and fantastic food make for a really special combo. My large family tried a wide variety of dishes and we all loved it!

Exzellent Dinner with delicious treats, try the Ahi Tuna Nachos or the Wagyu platter. Yummy. Signature Cocktails are outstanding…

Was the first visit and won’t be the last! Sam’s is a bit tucked in from the road, and parking is very difficult…tight and not a lot spaces. BUT, the challenged parking is off set by the atmosphere, food, drinks, desserts, hospitality and view! A must try when visiting Kauai!!

We came here during our honeymoon and the food and service were outstanding! I would highly recommended making reservations. I ate the Thai chili bowl with added Gilles shrimp.

Amazing service and great food make this place shine! Oh, and of course the *view*! Ally was a fantastic server and just the sweetest woman - she made us feel right at home. Definitely make a reservation, if you can, or else be ready to wait a while and probably eat in the bar. But it is worth it! Definitely try the Hemingway Daiquiri and the Parmesan Crusted Ono.

Didn’t have a reservation and was able to get in late. I appreciate that but advise other to make a reservation. The food and service were fantastic. I was impressed with my meal. Keep up the great work and hope to see you again.

The food was amazing, the atmosphere was awesome and beach-like and the staff were fun and friendly. Would definitely recommend!

We made reservations earlier in the week for 430pm on a Saturday for 2 people. Arrived and were seated right away. We ordered a Mai Tai and strawberry margarita for drinks and they brought water and foccacia bread right away. The foccacia was so soft and still warm. We ordered the waygu beef sliders and sea salt fries for Appetizers. The sliders were delicious and fries were hot, crispy, and salty! We both ordered the parmsan crusted island fish. That night the fish was ono. It was delicious..my first time having ono. The asparagus was cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes were great. We didn't have room for dessert. There isn't much parking..only a few spots. We parked in the lot across the street. The view is amazing. Would definitely come back but recommend making reservations. It was quite full even a half hour after opening. When I made my reservation earlier in the week, there were only a few days/times available.

An amazing higher quality restaurant with spectacular service and attention to details. Fast service of delicious food, but at the time we went, it was pretty noisy with high background noise levels that calmed as the night progressed. Would highly recommended and can’t wait to visit again 😁

Great place for our first evening. Got a reservation for 5:30. Inadvertently, that was lucky, as we were able to park. The rest of the evening was adrenaline inducing as we watched near misses with people nearly hitting our rental car (the black one). As they tried to park. Enjoyed mai tais, ahi tuna, and flourless chocolate cake . Really enjoyable. Great atmosphere.

This is a great place for amazing views in a laid back environment. We had 4 people in our party with a baby. Our waiter, Allen and the staff were all very kind and attentive. Only giving 4 stars because the fish and chips weren't the best. The parm fish was really good. There was also only one option for the fish dishes. Fairly certain you need reservations to eat here as well. We would recommend, just call first to see what fish they have that day to make sure you like it.
