I read about this historic burger joint online and my family and I came in before goig to watch the Royals play! We were absolutely thrilled we choose this place. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was like going back in time! If you decde to try this place you must get. Malt they are so good! We will be coming back! Oh the waitresses were so nice ours evn showed my son how to eat his root beer float(she fed it to him) he loved it!
This place is classic Kansas City. The decor isn't much to look at, but the food is surprisingly good, especially the burgers and shakes. The shakes, in fact, are perhaps the best I've ever had. My one complaint is that it's a bit expensive for what you get. Lunch for two was $30 after tip, which is on the high side for this kind of place, at least in my opinion. We will be back anyway, of course.
FIVE STARS all the way! A quaint little diner with terrific food (cooked right in front of you) and even better hosts! Justin and Jerry took great care of us and our breakfasts could not have been tastier. The sausage Pattie was crisp on the outside, tender inside, the hash browns were delightful and the bacon was cooked to perfection!! Next we will need to try the burgers, they look phenomenal!!
In town for a wedding and stumbled onto this "Kelvinator" classic joint. Did the breakfast "Haystack" samich and was fully filled. Quick and fast service with a very friendly staff. Do yourself a flavor and eat here as soon as you can!
Fun little old school diner restaurant. The building is old and it has the dated look to it, but the inside is clean and well-maintained. The party melt I had was very good and the staff were very nice. I will definitely be back to try a shake and the breakfast menu.
Excellent burgers ... they are patted out by hand, and have all the special taste that comes with that. The burgers and fries are served wicked hot, and so they are as good as it gets. The staff is enthusiastic and kind, such that you get great treatment, good food, and a great time. Sure, it is a small diner in the middle of KCMO, but that it part of the package. Gotta go here and try the burgers!
A perfect cheeseburger. It’s not an obnoxious gourmet burger, but rather a simple, single burger like I had growing up in the 60’s and 70’s. Grilled to perfection (crisp edges). Golden brown home made onion rings to top it off.
a good example of the motif "if it ain't broke don't fix it", this place is still in the unbelievably tiny bldg it started off in the late 1930s. your usual outrageously American-diner style menu items, burgers shakes, floats, pies, and their breakfast items are pretty impressive - and this is one of very very few places in KC that's open 24 hours. Anyone on any sort-of sodium restriction or just average healthy diet minded individuals probably ought to just eat somewhere else. If you're needing comfort food, there's no shortage. B.y.o. antacid tablets.
The service was more than spectacular, everyone was very kind and attentive. I got the triple patty cheese burger that was pure bliss. I 100% recommend to everyone even people who don't like burgers would love this place.
Burger was small but good. Fries wasn't for me. My kids looked them though.
