Very nice remodel and super nice staff
You must get the escargot tortellini!
Let me start by saying the food here is insanely good. I came on a slower week night and the restaurant was setting to close early but allowed me to order anyway. There were so many things I wanted to try. The duck fat fries are amazing, the lions Maine mushrooms were cooked perfectly. The fish was amazing. It was easily the best meal I had out in months. The establishment itself has a lot of history. It’s decorated beautifully and is very aesthetically pleasing on the inside. The bartender and waitstaff were very friendly and accommodating. I’ll definitely find my way back here if I’m in KC again.
Top of our list right now after a year+ of exploring KC after moving from Houston. We coincidentally met chef Brandon Brumback at a J. Rieger barrel dinner the weekend prior and loved what he did, so it was no surprise that this was a home run.
The ambience is fantastic from the moment you walk in the building. The restaurant is cozy and romantic. Staff are friendly and helped with anything we asked for recommendations on.
We ordered the beef carpaccio and Caesar salads to start. Both were fantastic, the salad dressing being perfectly balanced with flavorful, crispy yet tender croutons.
Half a dozen oysters were next. They were fresh and delicious. I didn’t totally care for the mignonette but I’m super picky about that, I don’t hold it against them.
This is the first nice restaurant in KC where I’ve seen a legit cacio e pepe, so I had to order it. It exceeded my expectations and I ate every bit of it.
My date ordered the filet and green beans. Both were PERFECTLY cooked and the duck confit is to die for with the beans.
Cocktails are a blend of traditional and creative; our favorite ended up being the old fashioned.
We opted for the goat cheese cheesecake dessert, which was definitely different but good as a more savory finisher.
Take a look around the museum after, it’s a great all in one date spot and you will not be disappointed with the quality. We will be back!
Some local bartenders recommended this restaurant. My server was wonderful and suggested the roasted duck. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The tomatoes were delightful with the aged balsamic vinegar. I will definitely stop by again on my next trip to KC.
The specialty cocktails are so interesting. Ingredients that I’ve never heard of before are used in some. Love the atmosphere and the waitstaff was super attentive.
The scallops on the happy hour menu melted in my mouth as they were flown in fresh from Novia Scotia.
The fries are some of the best fries I’ve ever had! They are fried to perfection and rolled in duck fat.
The Cesar salad was incredible!
The smash burger was a bit over cooked but still very well flavored.
We walked through the art gallery after with our wine.
Will be back on my next visit.
This restaurant is not only awesome but it's in a hotel with a small art museum. All the installations are super cool, thought provoking and incredibly out there with imagination. The atmosphere has a very artsy, posh feel without the pretentious arrogance.
I highly recommend the duck terrine, if it's still on the menu. I've never had any like it. The wine list is really good too. The wait staff is impeccable and all trained very well to know the menu inside out. The entire menu is fun and creative.
Amazing experience. The best meal I’ve ever had. We had the halibut, filet, morel mushrooms, white asparagus and king crab. Delicious, unique dishes. We’ll be back for sure!
Very great customer service from the waiting staff, the experience is one you won’t forget. The food was good, salmon was cooked perfectly (not over done and the skin was properly crispy) however the pork chop was very undercooked and did not sit well with me or my friend. Very creative menu and would be willing to try again
Not as fussy as I thought. The server was so friendly and down to Earth. I felt like I was eating at a friend's house, if that friend was a gourmet chef. Dessert was a modern pineapple upside cake and it was divine.
Run, do not walk here! This place is absolutely amazing. Mike, the bartender, is a drink connoisseur- man, does he know how to make incredible cocktails! He is knowledgeable and even let me try a drink he's been working on and it was delicious! The food was so good - ordered the dover sole, French fries and grilled broccolini. For dessert, I ordered the pineapple affogato. Man, it was all so scrumptious!! Your taste buds will thank you for coming here.
The setting is wonderful here, I felt like I was dining in a midieval castle dining hall. The giant penguins snapped me back to present day though. Our server was great and offered wonderful suggestions for our meal. I had the skirt steak and my wife had the chicken. When I say that it was one of the most delicious chicken dishes we have ever had, believe me. The quality of that chicken and the way it was prepared was literally perfect! The cocktails were also great and reasonably priced. If you are in Kansas City I highly recommend you stop by to enjoy a meal, order the chicken!
