Walking up to Thou Mayest you already know it’s going to be a vibe. The atmosphere is great. The perfect place to catch a coffee alone, with friends or for business. Then there’s the coffee itself. I went kinda basic, but even on basic drinks you can taste the difference. My latte was made perfectly! I also splurged on one of their cinnamon apple pop tarts which was super good. Trying that cinnamon roll next!
Ps. They have a unique cereal bar which is kinda fun so if you’re a cereal lover this is your spot!

I happened to go when there was only one person working so it was fairly slow, but the vibes were wonderful and the whole store is very aesthetic. I had the Harvest Moon latte which was a PSL but not as overly sweet. All in all it was a great experience!

The atmosphere is a perfect blend of curated kitsch with a fishing vibe. I met a designer friend here for coffee ☕️ & scones, and we agreed that Thou Mayest nailed their River Quay aesthetic.
The seating vignettes are comfy & semi-private. Some spaces are designated with river rock, others by an indoor wooden "shelter." This is a terrific place to work, gossip & and get your caffeine on.
I'm looking forward to coming in the evening when I'm back up the hill in River Market. What? Coffee at night? Plu--ease. They have a fully stocked 🍸 bar, too.

Loved the vibe of this coffee shop. It is a hidden gem for sure!
I did not get a chance to try the coffee, the line was long, I was there on a quick business meeting. But my business partner was able to have a cup and said it was delicious.
They had great music playing, I swore it was my own spotify playlist 🤣
The atmosphere is an old hunting cabin feel, old road maps on the wall, board games, fishing rods, a little dark and woodsy. It was the perfect spot for a quiet and simple meeting.

I want to write a song about this place. It's the best. Like, I love the building and the staff and the coffeeeeee. I think it's the best cup of drip in town. Price is right. Especially the bottomless, 6 bucks, drink up. And the London Fog, c'mon. It's just up the street from my girls' apartment, and I would absolutely drink this coffee every day for the rest of my life if they'd let me. That's the dream.

Great cappuccinos. They also have lavender to add to your coffee if you'd like. The staff is friendly; the atmosphere is relaxing and unique. They also have great taste in music.

My husband and I have a lot of memories centered around Thou Mayest (the original spot in the Crossroads) We had some of our first dates there, great times with friends, tiki parties and we got a lot of our wedding pictures taken there. We were absolutely devastated when they had to close that location. When River Quay reopened and I walked in for the first time, I tested up. It was so similar to the original place. It had the same vibes. Felt the same. It was warm and cozy and felt kind of like a cabin in the woods. Trees and plants everywhere, a bar, ample seating for everyone, eclectic decor and such a friendly staff. They had brought in these vintage green pockets that had been at The Crossroads location and we had gotten some wedding pictures taken in front of. Everything was just… perfect. The coffee and beverages were just as good as ever! This is somewhere I will come back to over and over again ♥️

We have always loved Thou Mayest and this location is beautiful! We had the immersion brew and the Spirit of KC cocktail.
Quite delicious! For anyone needing a drink of nearly any sort this is the spot… plenty of seating and just an all around beautiful spot.

I had the barrel conditioned cold brew, such a craft cup of coffee. It was unique in a really good way. Great atmosphere, modern, good music, and excellent coffee.

Decent prices, probably the best Irish coffee in the city, but fair warning, cream and coffee are heavy on the Jameson. I personally prefer my coffee a little more Irish than coffee, but to each Their own. Staff has always been friendly in the almost year I've been stopping by.

This is a great coffee shop in a historic part of Kansas City. We had the 12 oz mocha and 8 oz americano and both were very good. They had more seating than I expected. Friendly baristas who know how to pull a good shot. Not surprising given their reputation in KC. Quite a bit of on street parking nearby and the light rail system has a stop just steps away. Definitely will go back!

Just fabulous. Friendliest and most helpful baristas when I was a weary traveler dragging my luggage through their beautiful space. They set me up with a strong cold brew, offered to stow my bags for a while, shared many local recommendations, and let me know I could post up in a comfy chair as long as needed. Will come back here anytime.

It was my first time coming to Thou Mayest. The ambiance was good, coffee house vibes in the best way. The decor is eclectic, and a bit funky in the best way. The space is kept immaculately clean, it's a bit on the small side, but what commercial space in River Market isn't. The employees were professional and relaxed. Very much the epitome of the apparent slogan of "take fun seriously" which I appreciate. Food offerings were on the slim side, but the space just recently opened. So your options are some packaged foods like protein bars, pastries, or a good old fashion bowl of cereal. The coffee was also immaculate, you can choose which type of espresso you'd like, a light, dark or decaf which is nice. Their seasonals and home made syrups are super good. Also interesting that you can get CBD oil added to a drink. I did with my drink, the bee pollen and lavender latte.
10/10 experience hands down. I'd definitely go again, the only thing I think could possibly make my next experience better is more food options, which I am sure will be sorted out by the next time I visit. If you are looking for a great coffee house experience at River Market, Thou Mayest is my top choice for it.

Great atmosphere, delicious drinks! Someone in our group got an espresso martini which was excellent and my wife and I got the red chai latte which was pretty good but needed a little more flavor. Overall, neat experience!

First time trying Barrel conditioned cold brew and I have to say I’m not a fan of that. Sorry I really can’t appreciate it and I ordered the lavender latte. It’s good. Maybe next time I’ll stick to the safe choice

My mocha was really good. The employees were really nice and the environment is comfortable and inviting. We checked Google Maps before going to see how busy they were. They didn't look busy. When we walked in all the seating, while there is a lot, was taken except about 4 seats at the bar. We decided to sit at the bar. After about 10 minutes several seats opened up and we moved. It was between 3:00 and 3:30 on a Thursday afternoon. We will definitely go back.

Second time in this nice place. This time I got my cortadito with a sparkling water (pardon me, it was my first time) anyways, found out that it was to clean the palate which it was so nice. Great experience one more time!

This was a cozy environment with very delicious coffee rated about an average of 1 to 2 dollars cheaper than a starbucks.
Parking is always a pain in the downtown area, but once you're there it's comfortable.
A good spot to go for a date, and the music is at a low rumble so hear people you're talking with and the bathrooms were alright. Same with the toilet paper.
Also, very close to the city market!
Drink in the first pic is a vanilla latté; they don't have hazelnut flavor but they change their coffee types every 3-6 months.

Always a great experience at Thou Mayest! This is the best place to work, study or even hang out alone of friends.
The coffee is great, and the service is friendly.
Definitely make this place especially this cozy location a regular spot.
