Went to Kansas City on business. My colleague and I ended up at O’Dowds 3 of the 4 days we were in town

If you're missing the "old" O'Dowd's then you haven't tried the NEW O'Dowd's!! Everything was spectacular from our fantastic table with huge windows that opened to the Plaza... impeccable service from Avery but then there was the food!!!
Appetizers: Shrimp Wontons were so good we could have just eaten more for dinner, the Whipped Local Goat Cheese with honey was simply delicious!
Dinner: We're so glad we didn't stop at the appetizers. Two at our table ordered the Fish and Chips, which were large portions of fish and cooked perfectly. Did not care for the slaw though, very salty. I had the Roasted Beet Salad with goat cheese and I'm going to dream about that incredible salad!!
Dessert: Our only tragedy, we just couldn't squeeze in dessert. Which means we will be back very soon because we know it's going to knock our socks off!!
First time back since the remodel and I fell in love with the place! Open concept, tv’s, plenty of tables as well as seating at the bar. The Reuben sandwich was fabulous - I think it just topped my list (sorry previous fav!). My friend had the chicken pesto flatbread and said it was wonderful too. We tried the local goat cheese appetizer - oh. my. gosh! It was served with honey and pecans and the salty crackers that came with it made the perfect combination. Left stuffed and happy!
Love the decor! My pub burger and fries were freaking delicious and our waitress gave the best service! Can't wait to go back.

Food was good. We sat at the bar for lunch. Our waitress/bartender, Amanda, was attentive, professional and very personable. She did a great job.

Great Service, my first time there with my family, Mallory was very attentive. Great drinks. Hot Wings were delicious, pot roast nachos would have liked my meat hot. Love the atmosphere & live music.
My favorite bar in Kansas City ! Fish and chips is the best in town and all the staff is hard working and make the environment fun. The GM Tony was very engaged with customers and very attentive. And the live music they bring in everyone is amazing ! Would recommend to anyone
Great laid back cozy atmosphere. Has a fireplace, cocktails are on point, friendly staff, in a great location. They stay open til 3am, so if you like something that stays open late this is a good spot to go!
I wanted to go somewhere and sit outside on a roof top, and the plaza was our destination. When we first checked out the online menu our initial thought was oh just bar food. But after further studies there was a bit more. My classic Irish dish of Fish n Chips was very tasty 2 nice size pieces of fish flaky and good with a bit too salty hand cut fries. My friend had never had Sheppard's pie before he thought it was good with a big hardy portion. If you want a nice laid-back outing Sunday evens are good if more action is what you seek Fri and Sat night is more action.
I went to hear some local DJs perform, the rooftop atmosphere was great the music was fantastic. The whole evening was a blast. I heard someone say that every Friday night is like that. I can't wait to go back. The only thing I think might improve the night was the volume of the music, when the music is that great you want to hear it loud. 😂😄
I joined my family on Saturday and went to the Plaza (my first time) After much shopping we had worked up an appetite, and decided to try O'Dowds. We chose to eat upstairs on the patio, and was pleasantly surprised. There was live music, the weather was perfect and the atmosphere was amazing. We started with Nachos and let me tell ya, absolutely devine! The presentation alone was mesmerizing. Their food was delicious. Our server, Kylie was kind, funny and a delight to talk to. We will definitely return.
Music was a little loud downstairs for my taste but it still made for a lovely night catching up with friends. I do wish they had more unique house drinks but the drinks we had were good!
Nicest waitress with dark hair and thin and tall young lady i think her name was kayla. Food was great she suggested the happy hour 1/2 size nacho and it was more then enough and tasted .really good. And wing were bussin to. Margurita was delish.

On the second day of my honeymoon, we went to O'dowd's gastrobar for some Shepard's pie (traditionally called Cottage pie, because it is made with beef). The service was a bit off tonight, because the hostess treated my wife like it was an imposition to request a particular seat. After being seated, the server seemed more interested in getting our order submitted rather than waiting for me to retrieve a Yelp check-in special I had for a free item. Her demeanor improved somewhat during our visit, but we still had to ask for straws, and the person who brought our food had to relay that we needed refills as well.
The Shepard's pie was delicious! Hot, fresh, and covered in yummy mashed potatoes. It was made with a red wine reduction. Normally, I might object to that, but the flavor was so good that I did not have any problem with it. It didn't take me long to finish my bowl, because I was more hungry than I at first thought.
After eating, the free item was brought to us (at our explicit request) so we could have a nommy treat back at our hotel room.
Overall, the service needs improving. If I was not an experienced diner, I might take that as a sign to not return, but I do enjoy a good Shepard's pie. Upon our return to Kansas City, we will likely get food from O'dowd's again, but it might be a to-go order because we can't count on good service.
