Such a yummy lunch today! I had the lemon, artichoke and chicken soup with 1/2 a grilled cheese. For dessert my dad and I split a piece of the humming bird cake. It had bananas, pineapple and pecans. Definitely will recommend this place and will be back!
I have always enjoyed the home cooked meal feeling in this local kitchen. The atmosphere is a diner meets a farmers market. Great natural lighting, friendly staff, and excellent food! The biscuits and gravy are totally satisfying and their pot pie is like my grandma used to make!
I love the owner's Mark and Randy. The menu is eclectic and delicious. Mark's magnificent muffins are a must have, the entrees and pastries are made in house from scratch. A hidden jewel and friendly, cozy atmosphere.
Great neighborhood place. Good food. Good coffee. Come in. Stand in line. Order off the menu board. Even though it is smallish, there always seems to be a place to sit. If there is not a table for you, share one with other customers. Everyone is friendly. Only open for breakfast and lunch. We live nearby and go often.
This is truly a hidden gem in Kansas City and I am so happy that we found it! The food was great and the people were so engaging and accommodating. We literally ate our food in the kitchen! I will definitely go back when I am in KC again!

We've been there several times now. The breakfast casserole...yumbo!! Last time, I had the french toast and he had the quiche...double yumbo.
We sat outside with our furbaby Jaeger and he had scrambled eggs and bacon and after he woofed it down, he said he loved it with a very resounding burp.
This place is great!!
Great neighborhood breakfast brunch and lunch place in a cool old building. Great atmosphere and friendly folks. Breakfast croissant was very tasty!
Absolutely love this neighborhood gem! We’re fairly new to the area & also to the Longfellow neighborhood... Very much look forward to walking here, for an amazing brunch on the weekends... Love the atmosphere! Love the food! Love the staff!
Perfectly set up and historic, with an at home feel. The food is amazing and the coffee is amazing, yet cheap. Seriously, one of the best cups of plain coffee I have ever had. The food tastes like they love me like a grandchild. My daughter was grumpy, but they had toys for kids and were kind about it. Today I found one of my new favorite places.
The food was Delicious!!! The staff was very nice and friendly and since it was our first visit, the host helped us with making a decision. They aren't skimpy on the portions and even my picky daughter ate her breakfast. Would definitely eat here again.
I love this little restaurant! The food is great, the people are fun, and they serve the best coffee on the planet. If I lived in Kansas City, I would go there daily.
Fantastic breakfast flatbread and the pecan roll was to die for. Very funky, fun, hippy cool atmosphere. Perfect spot for a Saturday morning breakfast. Oh, and the biscuits and gravy were fantastic!
Great food, order at the counter, and find a place to sit! Eclectic hole in the wall vibe. Fun. Easy going.

Glad we arrived by 9:15 for Sunday brunch. Great options! Bfast flatbread & bfast casserole were delicious, and oh that gravy! Fun spot, and even the kiddos found things they liked.
Fantastic food, worth a little bit of wait. Love the atmosphere, great working staff. One of KC's Diamonds in the rough, and I mean that in the most complementary way.
The breakfast flatbread is the best ever! Thanks Randy & Mark! Amazing!
This is one of our (me and my wife) favorite places for breakfast. We come here regularly. The crew who work here are very nice as so are the owner and his wife. We like their food, coffee and pastries they serve there. If you would like to experience a different atmosphere from the chains such as Starbucks and others, support a local owned business, and would like to be in a friendly neighborhood cafe, you should try this place.
You Say Tomato has some fire breakfast casserole let me just say that... Get it with the mushroom and sausage gravy and you won't be disappointed. I need to go back and get their gazpacho. Its a cold tomato soup with veggies in it... its one of my favorites. Its a unique place to go have breakfast or lunch at and the menu is unique just like the place. I'll be back to grab some Gazpacho...
I recently had the pleasure of dining at You Stay Tomato and I must say, it was an incredible experience. From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a lovely ambiance that set the tone for the rest of my meal.
I had the Quiche with the Mexican coffee and I was blown away by the incredible flavors! The quiche was perfectly baked, with a flaky crust and a delicious filling that was both creamy and savory. And the Mexican coffee was a real treat – rich, bold and the perfect complement to the quiche.
The service at You Stay Tomato was top-notch. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, making recommendations that really hit the spot. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable, and I felt right at home as soon as I walked in the door.
Overall, I give You Stay Tomato a resounding five stars. From the outstanding food and drinks to the warm and friendly service, this restaurant truly exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend giving it a try – you won't be disappointed!
Special ordered raspberry cream cheese rolls. World Class treat. Inlaws came in town. Wanted a special treat. Anne Casper and George deliver once again!!!
First time here and got the breakfast flatbread with bacon. It came out hot and fresh and really delicious! Everyone was super friendly and the coziness inside was delightful. There is nothing not made better with a bunch of plants :) I’ll definitely return to try more of the menu!
YST continues to provide wonderful food and atmosphere despite difficult circumstances. The weekly lunch menu changes based upon what is fresh, and never fails to impress. The coffee is top notch, as well as the espresso. Friendly staff and warm service greet you. The atmosphere is lovely, alive with plants and the iron working business whose wares you can see and purchase along with your BLT or quiche. They also offer weekly Wednesday dinners for 2, with creative creative varied menus each week. This place is truly a can't miss!
One of our favorite breakfast places - be sure to check their hours.
Everything we get there we enjoy, but we make sure not to leave without a cinnamon roll - our favorite best in KC (and believe me, we try cinnamon rolls everywhere we can).
They also have great options for takeout on a weekly basis and even have pizza nights.
The fact that this is so close to Succotash and both are great is spoiling us here in KC. Unique atmosphere that combines cozy home kitchen with corner farmer's market. Great menu of breakfast staples with veggie/vegan options, you know...the staples. Cool community pizza nights and catering as well, look em up!
Beautiful little breakfast spot with kind service. The food was amazing. Be sure to call ahead the next couple weeks as they might have some temporary hours changes. They are very courteous and also do catering.
You have to get the biscuit and mushroom gravy! Seriously, such a cute quaint little spot that's part grocery part restaurant. I've only been for brunch but ended up staying for hours. It's so comfortable and friendly, very contrast to all the busy places around KC!
